    Superb video!
My Madeline sustained a mild hernia 2 weeks ago. Right after her injury, she was able to limp. 2 hours later while waiting to see the vet, her mobility improved immensely. We kept her in the house for 1 week, and then I took her for a "mild" walk. Mads be crazy. She showed symptoms of a herniated disk after the walk. (Occasional awkward movement.) After 1 more week of house rest, I took her for another walk. No apparent gimpy walking following the walk. All I can say is give time to heal. Time, time, and more time.
Love the massage techniques. I will start using them tonight,. (I don't feel like we are out of the woods, yet.) I also wonder about how this will affect her in her old age.

Hi there, sorry to hear about Madeline but sounds like a good recovery!
A few changes at home could help her adapt like non slip floors, Ramps onto furniture etc to help her get around. A good joint supplement to support her jonints, in Aus we have Antinol and 4Cyte which are good quality supplements. Its best to have a chat to your vet about other specific things you can do to help her age gracefully and pain free

Would these exercises be beneficial for a dog that's being treated conservatively?

Hi, my frenchie of 4 years had surgery on his L4 and L5, it was severe. After a month of acupuncture he regained his sense of deep pain, but still couldn’t move his legs, we went on with passive range of motion exercises and acupuncture. But after 4 months of slow progress, with the reflexes, a dog attacked him and he had another surgery on his neck, he recovered from that surgery in 2 weeks. We put him in a wheelchair so he could regain his overall strength back, and was in it for 2 months. After two months we put him in the harness and for therapy we are going for hydrotherapy and acupuncture and exercises. The problem is that while he was in a wheelchair his so to say reflex got turned around. He can feel his legs, he can stand on his own ( not long ), he sits and stands up and also pushes himself when starting to walk, but his pull reflex, to make a step, instead of pulling his leg up he stretches it back. So everytime he stands on his legs, and starts to walk instead of pulling his legs towards him and forward, he just pushes them back and holds them in a superman like position.
Do you have any recommendations on how to help him with his back legs?

Sorry to hear of your Frenchie’s troubles. We dont have any other suggestions apart from what we’ve shared in the video. Passive range of motion exercises are usually the start point & then if the nerves recover enough into hydrotherapy to re-educate movement. Sometimes the nerve damage can be too severe to retrain normal movement. But hopefully your vet & rehab team can continue to guide you ❤️🐾

My two Frenchies both had to get spinal surgery. So upsetting I didn’t puppy proof my house for them. Both girls are recovering well. Mochi is 4 and is continuing hydrotherapy. Maui will start soon.

Sorry to hear about Maui and Mochi. Spinal conditions are very common in Frenchies unfortunately. I hope they are doing well in their rehab journey

If it is ivdd, do you want surgery? Without surgery, can you get better if you give message help like in this video?

Can I do these exercises on my 4-year-old french bulldog without having surgery? Sadly, i can't afford the surgery costs of $12,000.

I have a English bulldog who has this exact condition but he cannot control when he goes to the restroom so stretching him causes him to go instantly. If there anyway I can help him out with this?

You will need to express his bladder before stretching him. There are videos on CZcams showing you how. I have a frenchie with ivdd and he has the same issue.

      Hi there,
The hydro is a great start. You could ask your vet if there are any strengthening exercises you could do at home. The types of exercises would depend on the condition and any underlining issues in your dog. Thanks

How soon after surgery can we begin these exercises? We are 3 weeks post op and he walks but of course is a bit wobbly.

You can start the massage & toe pinches asap after surgery. From day 14 onwards, you can start the assisted weight bearing exercises. Good luck ❤️

We don’t hold that kind of information. The owner covers veterinary bills separate to rehab.

The cheapest would probably be about a thousand dollars. Most are 2 or 3 thousand.
