I just got the Nelson this Christmas, and I can see why a lot of people like the ship. It is a fun ship to play.
GG man I've never struggled to pen a Nelson before but seeing the shots land was kinda miffed during the stream. I was chalking it up to bad RNG.
Those DDs on your team spent the entire game trying to torp me and failed until the end

I was really excited to get this game because I thought it was a great demonstration of armor angling and it also shows just how useful the armor viewer can be.
The game is so good right now loving wgaming updates and design the CCS are all open and honest and I really feel the community is so much healthier than pc
I agree. I think, even in spite of any issues that people like to complain about, the devs do an overall fantastic job on this game. And I like all my CC colleagues. Spartan, Tbull, and Tacticangel are the ones I regularly watch and have been since long before I had a channel or became a CC myself.
@@Xarkun i think it helps that our biggest cc is a scrub, so we can't take ourselves too seriously.

Wasn’t even thinking about the scoreboard frankly. Basically everything in the game apart from the armor angling was irrelevant to me lol. I thought it would make for a great demonstration of what I’ve said about the Nelson for a long time and give me a chance to really make the most out of the armor viewer.

I'm angling as you've stated in multiple videos, just until the third turret is about to become available. I'm still getting citadelled by 16inch guns. I've also tried angling a little more and a little less, still getting slapped.
My only explanation is that I'm facing experienced players, who are aiming for my bow, rather than my belt, despite my angle? I can't confirm that it is a citadel I'm taking, could be full pens, but a N Carolina just slapped me for 14k per salvo, twice.
Probably. The shells need to hit the side armor to bounce. If they hit the bow or the stern, they’re still going to go straight through. Or else you’re very far away and plunging fire is just going through the deck. Also, American BBs get improved penetration angles, so it’s a lot harder to angle to them.
@@Xarkun Thanks. I was under the impression that only the Massa and Alabama got the improved pen angles?
Don’t think so. I’m pretty sure it’s all of them. One of the unique characteristics of the ship.
@@Xarkun I haven't felt it when playing them to be honest. I've just spent a little time researching both PC and Legends. The only lines listed as having improved pen angles are the RN CL's and US CA's, with a select few other ships, including premiums such as the Hood having the trait.
I'm unsure about the recent USN BB line though. I have seen enhanced pen angles mentioned in one recent legends video on the Tenessee, by Monk, but nothing else.
Sorry, I’m new to the game. What happens when they shoot the green bow? Are the shots going right through it and hitting the bulkhead of the big yellow bit (and it’s the yellow taking damage) or is it that the green bow it self is taking damage (ie it is not a sacrificial part)?

If I had the PC version, I would probably buy it just because it’s my favorite ship and I know it better than probably any other ship in the game.
@@Xarkun that is true. You do know her her bow to stern for sure! I have been absolutely loving the Massachusetts. I almost have enough captain skill points to unlock Manual secondaries. But I’m still on the fence if I wanna do that. I have seen trying IFHE but that’s full meme build lol. I may try sticking with a hybrid fire prevention/tank build with a little secondary power. (I already have my range out to 11.3km haha 😂) and it’s pretty accurate already with them and reload on them is like 4sec I believe on my build or 3.8. But I just wanna get that accuracy buff from manual secondaries of 60% increase haha 😂

Im at a debate between choosing the nelson or the graf spee, can someone help me to choose which one to buy?

Thanks for all the good information. I agree the nelson is a underrated ship and that is everyone elses loss. It taught me how to angle as did you. For those of us without unusual commanders who would you recommend. Could you do a best commander build for Nelson, for normal commanders. Currently I use jellico but I am thinking of madison.
I think I would use Madden for the extra heals
I don't have AL Nelson. I've tested both Madden and Cunningham. Honestly, I would recommend Cunningham. Being limited to 16km range with Madden in a Tier VII match is a huge disadvantage in my eyes. The heal is so huge, I've rarely found a situation where I needed or even got to use the third heal.
I find the range and accuracy of Cunningham to far outweigh the benefits of one extra heal.
@@cheesetoastie9678 There are many good choices, depends on how long the game lasts and how big the map is. I agree Nelsons heal is so good that often 2 or 3 are enough seldom need 4. But I do like the quicker reload especially under 25 seconds as that really helps with Battleship HE spamming as I call it. It's a British speciality.
@@Notthecobracommander See, that's the thing I've also tried. I personally cannot get on with a range disadvantage on anything other than KMS BB's, brawler or no brawler on Madden. Usually I end up in games with 3 or more destroyers per side, blue team doesn't shoot destroyers. So I've got to close in to get in range to use my guns, that then puts me uncomfortably close to their front line of DD's. Meanwhile my cruiser support is 7km behind me spamming BB's rather than screening and deleting DD's as his first priority. I'm a cruiser main and that is one of my main gripes with the meta, cruisers sit right at the back and spam HE at BB's all game. No, they should support their DD initially, hopefully blap the enemy DD then they can go farm BB's.
Maybe it's the fact I only got the Nelson this update, coupled with the flooding challenge going on at the moment, I'm regularly seeing 4-5 DD's per side games.
Funny thing is, my Scharnhorst with Brawler has 0.5km more range than Nelson + Madden without Brawler.
@@cheesetoastie9678 I agree the game is not always as much fun. I have decided to use the engine boost as it makes nelson more fun to use. I actually used brawler specifically because of destroyers. As Nelson is too slow to get away so you need to keep shooting. Plus British BB have great he alpha. I agree it's frustrating when 6 inch cruisers shoot at BB and 16 inch bb shoot at destroyers. Makes no sense. That's why I try to set the BB on fire my self so they switch targets.
Xarkun how do I do the Yahagi challenge
The mission that came with the ship? You play the Yahagi and do whatever those tasks are. Gotta get around to doing that. Whole thing is like worth 6k icebreaker coins or something.
How do u know the win rate for each ship
You don’t. The Nelson is just my most played ship and it shows me I have 300 something games and 200 something wins so I just had to do the math to get the win rate for it.
I will never get tired of watching the Nelson deleting dds in a salvo.
I'm so pleased they added armour viewer it's already helped me a lot understanding armour layouts that have puzzled me a bit....cough...Jean Bart....cough.
I'm really hoping to see some spotting ribbons of some sort soon to help promote more dds helping out.
I'm happy with were the game is at tho to be fair, I just really hope they implement carriers with balance.

Im seeing alot of players stern angling and you better know what your doing because some of the players are just sitting still and can easily get torped or citadel
Very true. Moving is important. The Nelson turns tightly so it can change direction easily. But it’s slow so you have to be very careful
