PEACOCK BASS FISHING IN NAPLES FLORIDA!

  • I have been planning to do a Peacock Bass fishing trip for some time now and it finally happened! A lot of research was involved in planning this trip and ensuring we found the fish we were targeting. Most videos I came across on CZcams did not disclose their exact location, so it was no guarantee we'd even be in the right body of water. We loaded up the boat and headed to Naples hoping to find THE SPOT. The first place we found was the exact same spot that I had seen in videos days before our trip, so I knew they were at least here! It was incredible to see how natural everything was down here, from the lime rock shore to the thick vegetation under water. The waterways here just seemed untouched and lively. We used a ton of artificial lures and had no luck. Fortunately we brought out a couple dozen shiners which seemed to be the only thing the fish were interested in. The bite was definitely off for most of the day, to the point where the fish wouldn't even touch a live shiner. We were able to land 4 Peacocks with my PB being 3.95 lbs. We were really hoping to hook into some snakeheads on this trip but didn't have any luck. We will be planning a trip further south into the Everglades to target Peacocks and Snakeheads. Both species of fish are brand new to me and I can't wait to get back down there. Thanks for watching!

    Awesome that your throwing them back I went peacock bass fishing the other day for about three and a half hours in the water was completely dead I didn't even catch any largemouth so that tells me that this area is being overfished (Naples)

      Yah we don't keep the Peacocks although I'm sure they're good eating. Actually we don't keep many freshwater fish, just mostly do it for the sport. We're going to be doing another video in May, most likely going to be a Peacock video. Another CZcamsr shared a place with me in the Naples area that is supposed to be loaded with Peacocks. Hopefully we can land quite a few. Thanks for watching!

    A buddy and me drove down from central Florida today and fished that exact spot. It was a rough day super hot and storming. We wasn't fortunate enough to catch a peacock however he caught an oscar. Next trip we'll definitely have shinners. Congratulations to y'all on a great video and very successful trip!

      That was my first time ever catching a Peacock and it was definitely a great experience for me. They are all over southern Florida and I just so happened to find a place close to home that has plenty of Peacocks. If you ever get down this way you have to catch a Peacock while you're here. It's truly a fish of a lifetime in my opinion. Thanks for watching!

    I was lucky enough to make two trips to the Amazon for peacocks. Both trips were great. On the second one I caught a world class 22 1/4# peacock. What a beautiful fish it was. Between the 8 of us we probably took 10 fish over 10. The cost of those trips have gone up significantly but if you can ever afford it, very worth while.

    Did you guys try the lake part on the west side of the canal? Everyone tells me to go east and fish the bridges. Do you guys use bobbers with shiners or free line?

    • @hookin-n-cookin6451
      @hookin-n-cookin6451  Před 3 lety +1

      It was our first time fishing in the area so we weren't familiar with the waterways. We did end up fishing in inlets rather than the main canal, as we didnt have any luck anywhere else. My buddy mostly free lined his shiners while I had mine on a bobber. There was a ton of vegetation about 8 feet under the water so I wanted to keep the shiner from swimming into it. Apprecaite you checking out the video. Finally went out fishing for the first time in 10 months just yesterday. Will be off shore fishing on the 20th. New video dropping soon after.
