  • Adding a hover effect to a KPI card is a very powerful way to provide more context to your KPIs without taking space on your reports. This technique can set your report miles apart from other designs! I also provide a solution to add line breaks even if there is no word wrap or source spacing options for the element to which you are adding text. Try it out and let me know what you think. Brilliant as ever - and I love the way you race through the presentation. Gives us the option to follow through with stop and starting while copying every actions, or just to listen through a great vies (no need to adjust playback speed!)
1 thing you might have added - if you group both card and button using the selection pane, it becomes possible to move both around the screen together.

Solid gold. So many great techniques laid out in this video. I've been using Unichar (10) for a while, but didn't know about the empty space insertion technique. One question - mousing over cards is not a standard behavior. Have you thought about the ways you would provide visual cues to the user to do so in order for them to see the great "on hover" effect you've created here?

I wanted to ask, what about line breaks in a button's tooltip? For example I have an info button superposed to a table, and I want that when hovering over the info button, the tooltip shows the definition of each column's header like:
Column 1: definition of column 1, which is very long.
Column 2: definition of column 2, which is very short.
Column 3: definition of column 3, which has medium length.
I have tried many different things that work for other types of visuals but do not work for a button's tooltip!! Would you have any advice for this? I have looked through your other videos but I haven't found something that could help me on this particular issue. Thanks a lot!!

There is another method that i used - i created a tooltip page with data that i need and used it as tooltip for card, it works fine. And it seems quite right, but there is at least one scenario when it won't work - it's when we use non-standard visualization without tooltip implementation, and there your solution should work. Also, i really like Card with States visual by OKViz - it's really quite powerful card, and there is a dynamic template which activated only with license - but the thing is that you can obtain license for totally free, so this functionality also may work.
Nevertheless nice video, i'll try to keep this thing in mind and try to implement it.

I'm using "SUMX" function for the measure...any tips?
