    No wonder everytime I hear music from cars passing by, the frequency becomes lower as is gets farther away

    Great example! Most of the time I don’t hear the increase in frequency; I only hear the decrease. In your example, I can hear both. For instance, here I hear the trumpet getting sharper and sharper as the vehicle approaches and flatter and flatter as it goes away. In other examples I don’t hear the pitch getting sharper and sharper; I just hear it getting flatter and flatter.

    OK… Here’s a challenge. Figure out the math and speed, and the correct pitch and try to drive by and make it sound like the same note from the stationary person’s perspective … you know… As you drive by the time it just right and make your pitch go up and counteract the Doppler effect!
    OK, GO!
