    The thing that made this better than some similar videos was that a lot of the other tutorials chain the tasks but they are all visible immediately and you can assign them to yourself imemdiately and jump a chain. This is a proper sequence of unlocking. It's surprisingly under documented and misunderstood and I am very grateful for finding it, thanks!

    This was a really good breakdown and I'm glad I watched this before other videos. However, one thing you don't go into any detail about is WHY so many triggers and create tasks and set task states are needed -- is this the default workflow for the editor and how the game works or is this just the way YOU do it? It was also a little confusing to me why you were placing them where you were placing them -- is there a reason for having them where they are, or is it just "they have to be on the map and nearby is convenient?"
    That said, this was a great breakdown and I can see how this can branch out to other missions and uses. I'm reminded of using the Starcraft Map Editor way back in the day... it always starts off so simple...

    • @OnlineCombatBN
      @OnlineCombatBN  Před 4 lety

      The triggers and task and state modules are required for each task. It is essentially how the workflow goes for making a mission with tasks. There are other ways to do it which are a little more complicated but in this video I wanted to keep it simple. The placement of the triggers is important if you are using them has activation triggers because they need to be placed where your players are going to move. The other triggers that are linked to the set task state modules don't have to be in any particular place. I have laid out the tasks and triggers in this video in a particular way to make it simple for people to understand. If you pay attention to the video and understand how the triggers work with the tasks you will understand that those triggers are required for the task to be a signed and completed. I didn't use more triggers than I needed to.
      The create task modules need to be placed where you want a marker for that task to appear visible for your players. You can of course choose to hide the markers for the tasks in the attributes of the task create module. But that will not allow your players to see whether task is. So if you want your players to be able to see where the task is with a marker to show them where they need to go to completed you need to place the create task module on the location they need to go to complete the tasks. I don't see why that's difficult to understand.

    • @OnlineCombatBN
      @OnlineCombatBN  Před 4 lety +1

      Yep, that's easy. In your trigger in the "Condition" section, you can have more than one variable (object name) to check on whether it's !alive or not.
      Example. You want a task to finish when you destroy two trucks. Name them truck1 and truck2. In Condition in the trigger put:
      !alive truck1 && !alive truck2;
      Now the task will not complete until truck1 and truck2 are destroyed. I hope that helps.

    This is a great explanation for beginners like me. Thanks dude. When you destroyed the truck in the video, can the same task be applied to a building? What text would you write? I was also wondering if there was a database for common scripting lines to use in the game? I dont see how the developers expect players to know this because the game does not offer any examples of how to aquire this information. Like when you changed the parameters for bill to "!alive" Other than seeing this exact example in a youtube video, how are we expected to learn this when there are so many options that we dont know?

As in when Unit A complets a given task then Unit B, who is elsewhere, could be assigned a task with the trigger being Unit A completing its task. In terms of combat I'm trying to replicate a scenario where when Unit A secures a given vantage point Unit B will then proceed to their task under the cover of Unit A

    I am trying to make my first mission and I have set up so far 2 of the 5 tasks I want before I end the mission. right now I have set up a move task (task 1) and a kill task (task 2) but I am cant seem to get my third task to activate after the kill task has been completed. my third task is another move task where at the move objective I have a task set up that says Find and destroy the Fuel Truck. I just cant seem to get that third move task to assign I have tried everything (I think) to get it working but cant. If you know how to I would love to hear from you. Love the content keep it up and Ill reply to this comment if I figured it out as I am just gonna keep trying and trying.

    This tutorial is no doubt easy to follow, but do you know how to switch between editor mode once clicking play mode? Other than that this is a great video.

    I have a question that's really bugging me. What if you want to make another move task after a kill task is completed? What do you need to do differently for the next move task? For example, in my scenario after moving throughout a few locations, I got to assassinate a target and want multiple more targets in various locations following more move tasks. If you get what I'm asking lol. Thanks! big help man

    • @OnlineCombatBN
      @OnlineCombatBN  Před 2 lety +1

      Just add more tasks and triggers. You can add as many as you like. The kill task doesn't have to be the end of the mission or the first task. You decide which tasks are completed in whatever order you like.

    Quick question, how do we make a task where we have to kill ALL the hostile forces within the certain area?

    • @OnlineCombatBN
      @OnlineCombatBN  Před 3 lety

      czcams.com/video/MmRiU8X-mlU/video.html&t
      Or you can set a large trigger with activation "OPFOR not present" for your end task trigger.

    How would I sync a task where a player and a particular ai were in the same couple meters to complete it?
    I have a waypoint where a team goes, and I come from another way. I want the task to finish when I group with him.
    I already have it triggered for him to move after, but I just started on tasks today and am not sure where to start

      Just check the variable names of your triggers. It's possible you have doubled up.

    Hi! Great video and also up to date since most of the videos I watch date back to 2016 and older! I am currently working on a small Co-op mission and one objective is to destroy a small building. Problem is, the building is a preset (Already part of the map, I did not place it) so I cannot use the ''!alive house'' command... Any idea how I could make the destruction of this building to be the trigger for my ''Task complete''? Thanks :)
