little did you know you're an artist. your touches on that site will exist for generations and be functional and visually aesthetic!
A quality concrete contractor takes pride in the finish booming. That show the customer the effort put into the job.
I loved doing concrete when I was a teenager
I've never seen the conveyor set-up. Pretty neat. I'm from south Alabama.
Another nice job Mike! I like the look that the brass edger makes. Really makes the entire patio stand out.
Maine hunting boots. Lived down by york maine while in air force. Left in 1976. Was just back visiting friends this past oct.
Hi Michael 👋
Done lots of brooming. I specialize in helping DIYers in SW Ohio.
Thanks Kurt
Much respect for you my man, you inspire me to make my own concrete videos, really love your videos !!!
hard work mike respect
If you get nice clean crisp edges and joints and an even broom like that it turns out perfect..nice job.
They come in handy!
broom finish came out nice!
Excelente trabajo 👏
We work in east Tennessee and around here one of the distributers do have the convare trucks but I don't remember how much extra they charge. As you say they are really nice. I used them several times for filling block walls. Thank you for the video.
Excelente trabajo 👌👌 excelente grupo de profesionales 💯💯 saludos cordiales desde Chile 🇨🇱👌🙏🙏
Got a 15x36 slab to pour. First timer. Thanks for the video!
Hope it goes well for you.
You got this man! 15’ means you can go right off the forms with a long screed board and not have to shoot any elevation during the pour, takes out alot of potential error out of the equation. Do all your prep work really well , anticipate and prepare for challenges that might come up during the pour and im sure youll slam it!
Very Legit. A blessing of knowledge. Thank you Mike!
You're very welcome ☺
It's all about concrete 👍
I've never seen these except in your videos Mike. At least not here in Kentucky. All pumped at about 500 for 4 hours.
You guys work well together
Thanks Frank
I see u useing a new Cadillac concrete jointer 👀 ❤
I like ur vids
I like the broom finish i use it all the time
Can you do a video on your truck setup? Thanks mike!
Wonderful audio. Wonderful informative video.
great video mike happy holidays
Great content along with a lot of information, keep them coming. lov the channel
Appreciate you, thanks.
Yep
nice video
Thanks Kyle 😊
Seen rock slingers but never a conveyor. I really enjoy your channel for a lot of tools and techniques we don´t use around here. Do you always "picture-frame" your broom finishes?
Who needs a conveyor truck when you got wheelbarrows 💪🥵 says nobody. Having access to that truck is golden. Don't you gotta tap that front form as your pouring where the concrete gets deep?
ya i do broom finish like this.
Superb finish Mike as always 👌👌 yeah I did a vid on a Broom finish on a concrete pathway last week 👍 love watching your vids pal keep up the great work and merry Christmas 🤜🔥🤛
Here in New York around Buffalo it costs about $250 for a conveyor for the first hour and it cost more for additional time. There’s 3 major ready-mix companies and 3 or 4 small players in the area and they all charge pretty close to the same price. Obviously high volume accounts get special pricing and deals.
Thanks Jessie
Another great video. Wanted to just thank you for giving me the confidence to tackle some off my small home projects and giving great advice on using crack sealer and con-flex paint. Thank you much from a big fan. ❤️👀👍
New video I hope you like it sir ! 🙏🏼
That’s all I do really is broom finish
do you have any tips for screeding on the long 2 man straight edge or even the one man
We never left the smooth tool marks at joints and the edges, seems to draw your eyes to the joints?
Hello Mike, great work-just subscribed to your channel and have a question. I am having a small house (1350 sq ft) built in SC on a monolithic slab. The code here only calls for 3000 psi, would 4000 psi be overkill?
Does a steel edger have the same problems a steel trowel does on exterior concrete?
What is this water reducer and how much u put into concrete per truck or per yard thank u mike good luck 🍀
How concerned are you about heavy equipment (grading, vibratory rollers for example) operating near your pour?
hi mike you do work in Massachusetts methuen
I broom finish all my concrete outside because I don't do concrete everyday for living, I use a medium bristle real push broom. Works good but would purchase an actual concrete one if doing allot. Real push broom can load up. The last thing I do is broom finish, no more edging.
Mike love the videos! keep up the fantastic work! ..one thing I've done that works well is to actually use the corner edge of my screed board to mark the line of my cut...works great and once marked, you simply chase the line with the cutter🤙
Also can you please do some shots that show closer detail of what the behavior of the concrete is in different stages?... I'd love to see exactly how the texture and rocks are looking as you begin each process! You guys are the best!
Why do you edge after broom ?
Is there a reason why you don't drill holes to attach the apron rebar to the existing slab? With the slope of the ground that apron is going to over time want to slide down the hill.
He's in Maine. It freezes there. The ground will heave up with the frost. So it's best to not pin the slab to the wall.
Nope all front discharge up here ( UP of Michigan Wisconsin border) and pump truck. Actually one ready mix company has an older rear discharge but it’s sits most of the time, every one expects the front discharge.
Osh kosh😎. I always request those. Plus it saves you a guy.
Never seen one.
Does Broom type matter at all? Or is it all about timing to get a light Broom finish?
It does matter. Stiffness of bristles makes a difference how course the finished surface is.
No conveyors here in my area, Only Telebelts and overhead pumps
Hey Mike. Have you ever poured a floor under a raised or jacked up building?...just wondering...my brother did that once...pretty risky...
czcams.com/video/ASfRoGEUVho/video.html
Have done quite a bit of broom finished sidewalk and patios. But I'm not a big fan of the picture frame look. Only do that when the homeowners ask for it.
700 bucks in Chicago. For the pump
What does a job like that cost?
So I just had a slab poured for my shop. I bought the yellow spacers to hold up the rebar. The slab was about 5” thick. I get to the job site when they are 3/4 done and the whole bag of the spacers are still there. They didn’t put them in. I was pissed. So now that the rebar is at the bottom, what will happen in time?
If the sub-base was compacted properly then it's very likely nothing will happen. Hopefully they sawed some contraction joints. If it does crack, rebar is just there to hold the crack tight. We do floors without rebar all the time, but we do use fibermesh.
@@MikeDayConcrete it was poured over 1” polystyrene foam board, which was on top of plastic. No expansion joints cut, was poured a week ago yesterday.
Were is the insulation
I'm a DIYer and I wouldn't pour concrete when it's that cold.. Two or three yards is all I will handle in one pour. I'm an HVACR contractor and I know my limits with concrete.
$100 is not bad for the conveyor… better than hauling it with a wheel barrel
Much better, yes.
id rather be pouring concrete than have a day off. no better job in the world
Boring
