Wonderful staging, wonderful voice, wonderful , wonderful, wonderful! I couldn't imagine Wagner could be so beautifully presented! Bravo, Bravissimo!! Now, if Gelb will just retire..

This is about as close to perfection as it comes. Glorious singing. No one could touch Ben on these Wagnerian roles.

This is one of the most colorful and breathtaking productions in MET's repertoire + it's really worth to wait 4,5+ hours for "Morgenlich leuchtend". Overall the whole 3rd act of Meistersinger is absolutely a piece of genius

Wagner's hubris always astonishes me. The opera builds up to the Preislied which has to carry all before it, and win the competition hands down. Simply put he has to write one of the greatest opera songs ever. And he does, succeeding stupendously. Alpha + +

Maravilloso! Qué potencia ese coro! El aria del barítono con el coro es espectacular. Adoro!

Heppner's best and last Met performance as Walther at the Met.
Botha also sang in this same production, which was the late South African tenor's Met debut in the role.

I admit with deep regret ive never really loved this masterpiece. I love this beautiful song , the prelude and the final scene but the rest of it doesnt appeal to me and sadly i rarely listen to it. Its without doubt a masterpiece. I revere wagner like a god. Hes brought me from the edge of death many times. The ring , parsifal , tannhauser and lohengrin are extremely dear to me. He is the greatest.

11:51 Clearly Mr. Levine wanted to get home a bit earlier than did Hans Sachs! Something of a battle of wills going on...

M, Levine had to hurry and get his little friends home before their moms became suspicious.
