I tell you that the song is based on the real story of Monica Naranjo's grandmother who was taken from her husband when she was pregnant with one of her children in the bloody Spanish Civil War (1936 - 1939) and never saw him again neither alive nor dead 😫 But Monica's grandmother, Mrs. Robledo never lost hope of seeing her husband again and never forgot it or joined another man. The grandmother had to work hard to maintain and educate her 4 children alone during the many hard years of the war and the postwar of Spain ....!
The black water is black milk with bread crumbs that is what many people ate during the war and postwar period of Spain because they were hungry ....!

Monica Naranjo's granmother was pregnant when the Spanish Civil War began. So, she was alone and pregnant while the war, because all the men where called to fight (it was quite dramatic, some families had to fight against each other). She was strong enough to survive reaching 4 little children, during the war and after the war (there was no food enough for the citizens, and everything was a mess many families were killed or had to leave their land and homes).

I think I've seen the clip now 20+ times and it gets better every single time. The first time I was like WTF did I just watch (Though I KNEW I would love it!!). My advise to "ost in MPK" is watch it again...and again...and come back to us!! lol!!

Double heart and the story is about her grandmother's life during Guerra Civil (spanish civil war in 1936). A woman whose husband was murdered and dissapeared till nowadays and she had to live waiting news from him ("Siempre viviré sola, sola, sola, sola, sola, sola..." I Will always live alone, alone, alone, alone....)

La canción está basada en la historia real de la Bisabuela de Mónica Naranjo a la que le arrebataron el marido cuando tenía 3 hijos con él y estaba embarazada de otro durante la sangrienta Guerra Civil de España (1936 - 1939) y nunca más volvió a verlo ni vivo ni muerto, pero la abuela de Mónica, la Sra. Robledo nunca perdía la esperanza de volver a ver a su marido, seguía preguntando por él , nunca lo olvido ni se juntó con otro hombre. What's up :) I like your reaction because you are true to your opinion, perspective, and assumptions. This song is inspired in Spains civil war. It talks about her pregnant grandmother and grandfather who got drafted for war. Her grandmother never remarried after his death in war. The opening scene represents the government and aristocrats enjoying lavish lifestyles while peasants bath in putrid water (black water scene) during the war. Her mother was the offspring, her grandmother never loved again and was never the same
She died alone, waiting for him to come back. 😭😭 The intense sexuality of the video touches on her recent life events. She got divorced after 15 yrs of marriage, presumably due to her coming out as gay. It is also in support of women empowerment and feminism. She has been a gay activist, women's activist for decades. Most of her videos portray women in a power role, with men adoring them and being submissive. As for sexuality, she has always been very visual and hyper sexual when it comes to her "alter ego" stage persona. This video is a celebration of her 25 yrs in the music business. It is a mixture of all her past videos. In the scene when she uses the high register (baby voice) not a flaceto..you can see in the background her older videos playing. The music is unique to her. There are no other artists with this current mixture of melodies, tones, registers and genera combined into one sound track. She was the first to introduce "techno pop"back in 1994 with her first self titled album. Her second album was all about beautiful ballads and house,techno,pop tracks. Her goth side came out after the death of her younger brother who she was very close to and took care of until his last breath (hence her 7 yr retirement from all forms of music) she came back with Tarantula her 5th album. She is a very unrecognized artist. She is unique and refused to work with music labels because she wanted to remain true to her art and not lose her freedom as an artist. She has never been interested in becoming mainstream in fact she does the exact opposite. She was sued by Sony music because she refused to make mainstream albums like her 4th album Chicas Malas ( I will never make an album like that again) She hardly ever sings any songs from that album or even. Acknowledges it because she was forced to do it, she had no control over it, her image, her voice and her music
I admire her so much! She is not just the best spanish voice and one of the best voices in the world. She is humble, true to herself, super approachable, when she came to Costa Rica invited to be in the gay pride parade, she visited inmates in a female jail here and sang to them and with them
