The point of the name is that the development of the game is going to continue on, even after this first installment. Call them expansions if you want, the one you're seeing on screen is indeed a sequel to Generals, which will be the first expansion and development of the new Command & Conquer series. Later on they might add something related to the Red Alert universe, which may well be called "Red Alert" but it would still be integrated into the new series.

what are you saying? in c&c generals you can build anyway, so you would naturally at the start send builders to bridges and various entry points to your area and create choke points and that protects your main base from any sudden surprise attack

Bison Zubr the way they where going about it was terrible. Games like these should not be free to play. The beta testers stated that it was actually pay to win with paywalls everywhere you looked. Imagine C&C on iPhone and that's what we where going to get. Better they scrap the idea and wait for a developing team to make the game properly
When you are on the younger generation its natural to like the newer games but for us that we are a bit older and grew up with the first red alert games it was mind blowing we used to play online with dial up connection and sometimes we miss the good old days

I have also heard that there will in fact be campaign and that this is indeed...well essentially Generals 2. it does continue the story which is why there is no USA faction. The F2P model also allows them to create a...service that can be updated. It is called command and conquer. It will launch as Generals. But they can add Tiberium and or Red Alert to it later. cont.

it follows the original command and conquer story. which is ten years after the events of zero hour. and in zero hour America was crushed by the GLA and now they have taken a isolation policy towards global events similar to what they did during the 1930s-40s. (until pearl harbor). (basically meaning they wont leave their country. it will explain it all during the intro when u start it up for the first time :).
this f2p model actually sounds pretty good on paper, but previous f2p games have left such a sour taste in my mouth that i actually want to pay for it, even if the game is exactly the same. It feels like some kind of quality guarantee
But we've had new Red Alert and new Tiberium over the years but no Generals. What they've said about this too is that they could see adding in factions from the other game universes. It would be awesome if this was like a C&C All Stars in the end where you could play as any faction from any of the C&C games from the original to Red Alert 3.
Yeah, it's a valid question. This is more of an interview with a bunch of cutscenes of gameplay pieces. Granted, there IS some gameplay in there, but I was expecting to see more of a "playing the game" video.
