  • I went back to my old gym Desert Lights and did a quick little gymnastics practice with Coach Bob’s help! I’ve only worked out a few times since giving birth and I haven’t done any gymnastics at all for 2 years so this was kinda rough. But I’m thinking it would be fun to get back in shape again and play around in the gym just for fun! What do you guys think? How did I do??

Coming back to gymnastics after abdominal surgery is SCARY! I've done it before- you should be so proud of yourself! Keep pushing you've got this!

  • @moavdi756

YOU ARE AMAZING!!! YOU GO GIRL! Can’t believe you tried a back handspring only 3 mo postpartum. You can do this, slowly, carefully, and include Charolette in morning workouts. Lifting baby, yoga 🧘🏻‍♀️ poses, brisk walking with stroller… you’ve got this!

girlie you are not “weak” you just birthed a whole human.. you are SO strong

  • @aliciaschwartz3

You gotta reframe your mind set... you aren't "not strong" you've lost strength in your arms because your strong a** body made a baby!!!❤😍 our bodies are amazing and yours will be as strong as you ask of it. Just be patient and graceful with yourself!

  • @saronsadie

It takes a lot of ab strength to actually do a pull-up. You should be proud that you were able to do 1 after a baby and ab surgery!

Don't worry too much about how hard it's going to be. The good news is that your body will bounce back pretty quickly once you get back into a routine and consistent training, and that's because of all the previous work you've put into yourself. Your muscles will adapt faster than if you were a beginner and you'll be back to where you want to be in no time ♡ just take it slow and stay safe, focus on your form and building your strength back up. The rest will follow!

It’s such a sobering moment when you realize even your easiest, most basic skills aren’t easy anymore. I was in disbelief when I realized I couldn’t even kick over from a back bend anymore and handstands hurt my arms after about 3 seconds 😅

I wasn't an elite recently, just a coach, but I did get my press handstand back at 5 months postpartum! I was pretty proud of that.

After having my son going back to my first dance class I could barely get throu the class and was sore for days. I quickly after a few months got back into my groove. I was so upset with my lack of ability but I'm so proud of where I am now. Gymnastics will always be in you and a part of you, don't be too hard on yourself 💪❤

Thanks for that video! It helps to see an authentic video that shows that even top athletes struggle after givin birth/ a break.

Bob's concern but ability to still push was heartwarming to watch.

  • @InevitableMonth29

It’s so refreshing to see how supportive Bob is! Love your coaches

  • @elizabethw.9042

We love Bob! Great job Myk. Absolutely be safe. You will get there!

I know that feeling! When I returned to leading group exercise instruction after 3 years off from doing anything I was so discouraged and my first thought was to say "forget it!" But several months later, I was back on track and on my way to being in even better shape and condition than I was before getting pregnant!

  • @Erin78G

So proud of you MyKayla. You’re awesome.

  • @katymaloney

As long as it stays fun for you, do what makes you happy my dear! Happy new year to the little family! 😘

  • @surtla01

Such a responsible and cautious coach. Much respect to him.

  • @lonelyhorse5313

You've got nothing to prove anymore so I'm all in support for return(hopefully)! Take your time and do things you've never done! (Increasing flexibility, learning new dance elements, new bars skill etc)

  • @Ktrussman

I did gymnastics when I was young and I have always been kind of obsessed since. Just got my 7 year old a bar for xmas and he has been flipping like crazy on it. Its bringing me so much joy:)

  • @blumberg1982

And stop putting yourself down, you are an amazing gymnast!! You will get back to it!
