    Hello you guys, Hua's rap is amazing, I love it because it's rock and it's musical. HuaHua has composed several theme songs for movies they're all as epic as the movies. Why not reacting next to other rap songs like My Skateboard Shoes, or Great Sage Equal to Heaven, HuaHua was challenged to rearrange both songs in 24 hours. Cheers and looking forward!

    To fully understand this song, you need to read the Chinese Classic Novel "Journey to the West" (西遊記). It is a novel written by Wu Cheng'en (吳承恩) in the 16th century during the Ming Dynasty. The novel is an account of the pilgrimage of the Tang Dynasty Buddhist monk called Xuanzang (玄奘). He travelled to the west (Central Asia and India) to obtain the Buddhist sacred texts (sutras).
    During his journey, the monk Xuanzang (玄奘) was escorted by three protectors who helped him as atonement for their own sins. The three protectors are Sun Wukong (孫悟空. The Monkey King. This is the mythical monkey figure this song is all about), Zhu Ba Jie (豬八戒. This is the mythical pig figure), and Sha Wujing (沙悟淨 or 沙僧. He was originally a general in heaven). In addition to the three protectors, Xuanzang (玄奘) was given a white steed to ride on (The White Dragon Horse, also known as Bai Long Ma 白龍馬).
    This song, Qi Tian (齊天), is a soulful cry of Sun Wukong (孫悟空, the Monkey King) for freedom and the atonement of his sins. Until his sins are completely forgiven and his freedom granted, he cannot escape the palm of the Buddha, which to him, is bigger than heaven and earth. The Golden Fillet around his head, which he cannot remove, is the magic headband designed to reign in his unruly, rebellious nature. Whenever he gets out of line, Xuanzang (玄奘) can make the headband constrict and cause Sun Wukong (孫悟空) tremendous pain. This is how Xuanzang (玄奘) keeps Sun Wukong (孫悟空) in line and under control. The rap parts of the song perfectly depict the chaos and violence during all the battles that he fought to protect Xuanzang (玄奘) from harm.
    I hope this little explanation helps you all understand the background and gain a better appreciation for the song, which is phenomenal.
    On a side note, the name of the song, Qi Tian (齊天), is rather oddly translated to "Equal to Heaven". Qi Tian (齊天) is normally used in Chinese culture as a form of blessing or to describe the wealth of a person. For example, you would say that a person is so rich that his wealth reaches up to the heaven, or that somebody's ambition is so high that it reaches up to the heaven, or that a mountain is so high that it reaches up to the heaven. The idea is to convey grandeur, something so majestic that it rises up so high that it touches heaven.

    They don't need us, but they do appreciate us. Year before last HuaHua was asked what film he would recommend to his friends. He got excited and said "Joker" Chinese films are available if you know where to look. I re-watched a Wang Kar Wai film last night while I was waiting for HuaHua's concert to start. People were uploading one song after another, bless them. I won't name names, but lots of us were online in the middle of the night enjoying as much of the concert as we could get. It was sensational, as his live performances always are. You're definitely going to want to react to his new song "Flight Mode" aka "Airline Mode". It sounds way more Chinese than most of his songs and is happy and whimsical.

    And I stuck to the closing song! I heard Hua and I fell in love! I searched for his songs, later for him ..and there is no stopping :)
    I follow Hua Haikou's concert on the internet yesterday, today and tomorrow :)
    I'm happy with your opinions and 1-2 more songs, I don't think the Mandarin language will bother you :)My phone is full of Hua songs and I listen anytime :)

    I appreciate your honesty on why you would not buy it because of the language. I think I am like you, understanding the lyrics are important to me. However, for an amazing artist, composer like Hua Chenyu, I have made an exception. He is my favorite artist. It is funny, though, in many songs sung in English, I have trouble understanding the lyrics because of poor enunciation (whether by choice or other). I do enjoy your discussions of Hua's music. :)

    • @nocturnalowl5867
      @nocturnalowl5867 Před 2 lety +1

      Who taught you that the H in Hua sounds like W? If it does then you’re rendering the H silent. They both got Hua ok, with the H sound. It’s Whoo-ah, not Wa.

    • @kristinelson5894
      @kristinelson5894 Před 2 lety +3

      @@nocturnalowl5867 Actually if you listen to HIM introduce himself there is NO Whoo-ah but the H is not silent either, it's Hwa, like Wa but you do pronounce the H first. Consider the word Quality, replace the Q with an H and drop the lity. Listen to him say it, I think he probably knows.

    • @nocturnalowl5867
      @nocturnalowl5867 Před 2 lety +1

      @@kristinelson5894 But did you hear him drop the Hoo sound? It's certainly NOT LIKE Wa and Whoo-ah is more accurate than Wa, which kills off the sounds of H and U. In Chinese language, when they write their names in roman alphabets (pinyin system) they did not expect pronunciations to be like the English language where some H's are silent. Again, let me reiterate that the U sound is also not cancelled but also not very pronounced sound (I used the Whoo-ah to emphasise that the U sound is not cancelled). It's like how we say "Who" then "ah" quickly. Try it ;-)
      Your example using "quality" is excellent, and if we replace the Q with K, do you think the U sound of "oo" is silent? So, same as Hua. Cheers!

In reality, I prefer blasting BlackPink music while doing household chores. I don't listen to Hua because it's all in Chinese and I can't sing along. With that said, this song and Nunchucks are among my favorites.
