Several people I watch have been talking back end stuff and yeah. There's some that's understandable, but they do manipulation too. The Billboard and Rotten tomatoes people do it, as well. It's just sometimes, something goes so mega viral, it overrides it.
I don't even get where that notion comes from. Jon's been uploading almost only original songs or metal stuff for a long while and a lot of that gets millions of views.

The last video to break 1 mil views, that wasn't an original song, was Children of the Night 10 months ago beyond that it fluxuates between 150k and 600k views. Unfortunately what he said is right though he worded it a little weirdly. Basically the way CZcams works is that if a certain percentage, like 80% or higher, of your subscribers aren't watching ALL of your videos, then you are actively punished for it. Basically CZcams says well not enough people were watching this so we'll stop showing his videos to people until eventually just barely anyone can find your videos. And don't get me wrong is is an awful total BS system that I can almost confidently say every creator hates, but unfortunately those are the rules if we want to play the game. Like he said CZcams doesn't want Variety it wants you to be really good at one thing and focus people's attention by watching every single video.
You didn't make a mistake, you experimented, and you learned from it. I will be subbing to every channel you do for the music. Lots of music. No complaints.

Yep as terrible as it may sound I actually prefer his covers to the original. Mainly because I speak English but it should be pointed out how he does a really good job translating not just words but also into a way that doesn't sound weird to English speakers.
Yeah, anime music may get a stigma, but it's just music that can be as good or bad as any other music. Some seriously amazing composers have made music for anime and created masterpieces that transcend the medium or the language barrier. Jon's covers show off some of that brilliance in a more digestable way to some people.
I don't think the One Punch Man S1 intro cover will ever be bested in terms of anime music covers. And I love anime music covers. It's a downward spiral from now on! :D

Unfortunately, CZcams is not favorable to channels that don’t have a focus but that just sucks because I came to this channel because of an anime song then branched out and explored the other types of songs and really liked them but that’s something you can only really get with a variety channel. If all you listen to (watch) are anime songs then that’s all the algorithm ever recommends and you never get the chance to branch out and discover new things. This is really just another “CZcams’s algorithm sucks so I need to change to not get lost” sort of thing. Good luck with the new channel I wish you the best.
Makes sense man. Do whatever you have to do to make sure your channel stays alive. Anything it takes to make sure that as many people as possible see and like your music, because it's tragic to miss out on any of it, anime, viking, or whatever.

This makes sense to me. I obviously can't speak for anyone else, but for me personally, I get really into a specific subject and hyper focus on it. So specializaed channels definitely do better with people like me. I found you during a Disney music binge, then stuck around for the other covers for awhile, then came back to the original music. In the past several months, I've been hyperfocused on classical music. So yeah, I haven't been super actively watching here for a bit.

Beau of the Fifth Column (US news / Ukraine-Russia news) did that a few years ago and saw his main channel skyrocket. Initially he had short content mixed with long. The long content was spun off to the second channel, then his main channel surged in popularity.

Do what you must, though I really hate that the algorithm requires you to do such overly specialized channels. To me, music is music; so long as it all comes from the same creator, it's all probably as good as the rest. If only discovered one of your channels after you split, the other channels would probably fly over my head, and I'd miss out on a lot of content from you.

I was going through a relly bad breakup when i found your channel. It helped me through it. This is the channel I subscribed to for awesome cover music, dropped off recently because of all the original works I didn't vibe with. If anything the second channel should have been for the original stuff. I have no attachment to the second channel.
This is the point that channels/creators explode but lose their soul and become slaves to the algorithm. I'm still sad about Good Mythical Morning/Rhett & Link being transforming into the creepy food network.

Great idea - seems like a win for everybody. I have no interest in anime music but a lot of people do, and I'm sure many of them have no interest in your rock/pop covers that I'm into. This way we both get what we like while never being bothered by the other
YES NEW ALBUM!!!! Starship Velociraptor is by far my most listened to album since its release. Cannot wait for new original music. This is what the cover grind has been for and I hope it pays off

For me I’m not a big anime fan to begin with so making a channel for only anime covers I think is a great idea for everyone who loves that stuff while me and others continue to enjoy covers of songs from animated movies especially ones that are forgotten or ones that don’t get much attention, and of course more ORIGINALS.
Personally what I liked about this channel is precisely its diversity. When I received a notification I never knew what to expect. But I imagine that not everyone thinks like me. Will there still sometimes be video clips of your Anime covers on Villainous or just video lyrics?
Good question! I've found that anime fans typically don't care about seeing my actual face on video, and are usually much more concerned about seeing the characters in the thumbnail with lyrics in the video, so unfortunately I'll be doing a lot less performing on camera for anime stuff.

Personally, I think that if your covers of Unravel (Tokyo Ghoul), One Punch Man or Attack on Titan have garnered so many views, it's on the contrary because we can see all the energy you put into them on camera. Seeing someone who looks so passionate about singing my favorite opening makes me want to watch it multiple times and share it. If we look at your opening of Attack on Titans which has the least views it's opening 5 and it's a lyrics video.

Its kinda like a restaurant with only 1 kind of food... if they made more varieties, more different people would come.

Working as a data engineer, to me the rules make sense. But data rules do not make sense from business rules. So I get it.

Now I'm working on movies and the Celine dion heart will go on cover would be the most perfect theme for the end of movie 1 in this trilogy. I plan to reach out to you in the future to use that.

Do what you must, though I really hate that the algorithm requires you to do such overly specialized channels. To me, music is music; so long as it all comes from the same creator, it's all probably as good as the rest. If only discovered one of your channels after you split, the other channels would probably fly over my head, and I'd miss out on a lot of content from you.

Ok, why is there a picture of Caleb next to bottles of milk on Jonathan's monitor? Why is it just that on the monitor? There's not even other tabs open, it's just that picture.
I was going through a relly bad breakup when i found your channel. It helped me through it. This is the channel I subscribed to for awesome cover music, dropped off recently because of all the original works I didn't vibe with. If anything the second channel should have been for the original stuff. I have no attachment to the second channel.

Yeah that checks out, you built a channel around variety but anime did better and so when you dont do anime the algorithm burries you. That's all channels that upload any kind of anime content and it's perfectly reasonable.
Yeah makes sense to separate the two so the variety channel is actually variety without being punished for no good reason.

Yeah, as a general rule of thumb, things that try to multitask tend to do worse in each individual area than things that specialize. It's not just on CZcams.

Great idea - seems like a win for everybody. I have no interest in anime music but a lot of people do, and I'm sure many of them have no interest in your rock/pop covers that I'm into. This way we both get what we like while never being bothered by the other
YES NEW ALBUM!!!! Starship Velociraptor is by far my most listened to album since its release. Cannot wait for new original music. This is what the cover grind has been for and I hope it pays off

I think it's a great idea, youtube works in a weird way. I hope this works for you because you're great and it's unfair that the channel suffers because some people (like me, no anime for me sorrry) have narrow tastes in music. I'll stay here for the metal and pirates and Disney covers and super great collaborations with Colm

Honestly the algorithm is hard to follow a lot so glad you seem to be figuring out or at least down to experiment and figure it out, can’t wait to see what you have in store for the album and the new channel! Though I swear the name sounds familiar as well.

For me I’m not a big anime fan to begin with so making a channel for only anime covers I think is a great idea for everyone who loves that stuff while me and others continue to enjoy covers of songs from animated movies especially ones that are forgotten or ones that don’t get much attention, and of course more ORIGINALS.
Personally what I liked about this channel is precisely its diversity. When I received a notification I never knew what to expect. But I imagine that not everyone thinks like me. Will there still sometimes be video clips of your Anime covers on Villainous or just video lyrics?
Good question! I've found that anime fans typically don't care about seeing my actual face on video, and are usually much more concerned about seeing the characters in the thumbnail with lyrics in the video, so unfortunately I'll be doing a lot less performing on camera for anime stuff.

Personally, I think that if your covers of Unravel (Tokyo Ghoul), One Punch Man or Attack on Titan have garnered so many views, it's on the contrary because we can see all the energy you put into them on camera. Seeing someone who looks so passionate about singing my favorite opening makes me want to watch it multiple times and share it. If we look at your opening of Attack on Titans which has the least views it's opening 5 and it's a lyrics video.
I really both like yours and Natewantstobattle's channels so much they've sort of inspired me to make mine recently so I'd love to hear about your experience collabbing sometime in an interview if that exists somewhere lol.
It wasnt a mistake, it was the perfect way to reach a ton of different people wjth different interests, which made more people see and love your music , and helped other people even discover music they never knew they liked. I'm not an anime fan, but i really enjoyed some of your anime covers, in which i otherwise wouldn't have ever seen or known about..... Its kinda like a restaurant with only 1 kind of food... if they made more varieties, more different people would come.
