Pickford.... Any love???
The boy is solid!
No keeper was stopping the flukey strike by Simons.
So he was as good as possible.
Astonishing that it's Jordan Pickford being singled out for the Dutch goal... Declan Rice was as weak as water to lose it and the pressure on the ball was non existent yet, Pickford's apparent lack of height is used as the reason for him not saving a rocket.
Both were at fault. But i still think that pi kford is too short when it comes to long range pile drivers. Same no real presence on crosses. But hey...the spanish don't cross a lot.

Truth
With Kane in the team we are in the final, how exactly are we held back?
@@jasonburder3963 Without Kane weâd be in the final and would probably have scored more goals. We havenât really played anyone significant. Kane appears to be wandering around not sure heâs a center forward.
We have to give Holland credit for the change after half time, its wrong to slate England. Holland totally changed their shape and tactics. There was no space in midfield because of the Dutch.
They got lucky with that because he was forced into it. I said at the time, I hope this doesn't end up being one of those moments and it was.
Rewatch the game everything is down the right no balance whatsoever.played ok first half had 3 shots on target one was a penalty.second half non event got lucky with a great goal
Agree. The Dutch formation in the first half is how they wanted to play. But after being dominated, they were forced to change to a low block and clog the midfield aka park the bus.
Well said! Something that ESPN Extra Time completely missed. They are absolute trash.

I donât see how choosing Watkins over Toni is a bold decision - Watkins was (please correct me if I am wrong) the top English scorer in the EPL last season & was a significant factor is upsetting the pundits and earning villa a well deserved top 4 finish & I may add, the occasional mention on the back pages đ (one day they may even make a headline!!!). He hasn't been a 9 for years and is being played out of position. Bellingham is playing in his position and Kane should be there feeding Toney or Watkins, Bellingham has done nothing all tournament apart from one moment
Still can't believe the Villin was o the bench whole tole! Give him a start! His earned it!
You pundits were all critisising England in past games - Gareth Southgate - Saka and Foden ! Kane and Foden off
Well suck it up and give Southgate his due,
So were all plastic fans
Ollie Watkins showed in 10 minutes what Harry Kane wasn't doing - running in behind the opposition defenders, and running fast to get into position to receive crucial passes. Watch the replay : Watkins started his run as soon as Cole Palmer got the ball. I haven't seen that lethergic lazy Kane doing it in any game for England. Kane doesn't run, he has no movement - he just jogs in his centre-forward position, always wants to the ball to be spoonfed to him in front of the goal. He spends up to half an hour without even touching the ball once, does not win the ball, does not win a tackle, does not pass, does not receive a pass. Clearly Trippier, Saka, Bellingham or Foden do not want to pass to Kane. Remember how many times Saka put a cross in the box and Kane was well short (or too slow) to latch on to it? Most of his goals are from penalties, can someone tell me how many are from open play? Southgate should show some guts to drop him and Foden for the final and put Watkins and Palmer in the starting line up. Otherwise we have little hope of winning against Spain.
where was van dyke when watkins scored lol im so glad we sold kane
it was like playing with ten men a lot of the time
Kane is not fit he looks slow and laboured his legs have gone. Watkins has to start the final.
We have to attack Spain in the final. If we stand back and admire Spain and allow them to play then they will overrun us. We need pace and we need to be fearless. Only way we win is if we go for Spain and shock them.
Agreed, we are not going to have the ball. Netherlands were poor, couldnât break England down and lacked patience. Spain will enjoy having all the ball and will be dangerous with it. Rodrigo is light years ahead of Rice at picking out passes, the CBs attack through the middle and backs overlap both sides. They have wingers on both sides that are a threat⊠we have Saka! Itâs going to be a bloodbath unless he hooks Kane early and plays a winger on the left like Gordon or Palmer
@@Spocklogic1 youâve nailed it. Youâre right though the Spanish play with two 16 year old wings! England would never do that. Southgate treats Gordon as if heâs a speciality footballer who can only be used sparingly. Ridiculous. Get him on the pitch and allow him to get to that line and cross the ball in. That is the only time Kane will be effective. The fact that Gordon wonât play means that Kane should not play in the final. Start with Watkins and bring on Tony in the second half. Letâs be honest we have very good players on the bench. They must be so frustrated.
I've watched Kane all career. That mate is as fit as he has ever been. Captain slow. Drop him.

Ollie Watkinsâ goal has knocked Michael Owenâs 98â mazey run and finish vs Argentina off of its perch. Spain might be the favourites, but we would have put a seed of doubt into them, with our multiple match winners over the knockout section.

Thought Bellingham was lucky not to be substituted instead of Foden
Thought the same, nothing was happening on the left side. I think that was more a Trippier problem. Bellingham needed someone to play off and got Trips and Shaw⊠needs a Gordon or Palmer out there⊠an actually winger
Maybe because Bellingham has a goal in him. Foden doesn't look like he's going to score, he had many chances.

We have had the golden generation but these bunch of players are the platinum generation that's what they should be known as from now on. I've now got 100% faith in the squad and manager from there performance today against the Dutch. The Spanish will be a harder team to beat but I think the England squad have still got another gear they can step it up to which they will do in the final .they have improved in every game they have played now the best is still to come in the final. From Justin in West Midlands, England đŽó §ó ąó „ó źó §ó ż. (P.S.) it's coming home, the euros are coming home.
england really do need to play 10 times better against spain. They are such a well oiled machine and have beaten top teams this tournament. I hope england can do it.
Cucurella is shite. Laporte was decent. Le Normand is average. If our front 3 can't smash them on the counter then we're done.
It's a 50-50 game imo....
That 1st half performance was what we've all been waiting for: exciting, fast paced, forward passing and Foden Kane and Bellingham making things happen in the final third. If we can play like that for the whole final then we can definitely win it.
They have to play like DIAMONDS on Sunday; everyone has to shine.
Stuart had similar shorts in 1990! Legend! đđ
Put Kane on bench and we have a chance.
It was great to get the win in spite of poor selection and subs. Needed luck with decisions I didn't think it was a penalty.
With the rules as they are (and with VAR), it's a penalty. It shouldn't be but it is. It's like when someone smashes the ball into a defender's hand who is stood 1ft away. Shouldn't be a penalty but the rules currently state it is.
Well done Stuart on the penalty comment.
that wasn't a penalty!
Subs did for us again. Kane is past his best simple. Saka was trying to play the balls behind the defence but Kane was again dropping deep!
Jim Proudfoot is a superb commentator, and what a superb review of the game and Southgate's time in charge. Well done sir....
Whatever happens on Sunday the England team have finally come through and made the nation proud.Well done to Gareth, all the squad and staff and good luck in the final.
Great performance, the Dutch changes put us off our rhythm from the first half display but it was a brave move by Southgate to replace foden and kane but he freshened it up and Watkins delivered. We can win this and Southgate is proving he is astute enough to get the job finished.
Gareth sucks however he lucked into a golden generation of England players who play well in spite of Gareth.
Luck or world class players?
Yeah, because they're all playing in spite of Gareth, aren't they. đđ
Right....I'm welsh but don't talk rubbish.
If it was as simple as that your last "golden generation" would have done the same.
The manager has done a fantastic job simple as that
The stat we have won 6 knockout in history and 9 under Southgate!! We have had world class players in every generation but none that could do what Southgate teams have
Sorry, but this whole thing smacks of uninformed fans being over-influenced by pundits, and now some of them think they have to double down because they can't admit they were wrong. Forget England's history, a manager who has 4 international tournaments and makes a quarter final, a semi, and 2 finals is good by any standard. Someone who gets that out of one of the most mentally fragile teams in international football, after taking over at possibly their lowest point ever, is clearly doing something extremely well. If anything, the most you can really say as a critic is that his tactics are not great, but he obviously compensates for that in other areas (eg, this team have come back from behind 3 times, and scored 6/6 penalties so far- something England have literally never been capable of before now, at least in my lifetime)
Mainoo is getting his props same way but obviously Ollie and Cole deserve more flowers now tbh . Bring it home pls England. Our hearts and love is with you all . Make us proud Pls as I was 1 when we won the World Cup in 66 . Itâs coming home ..
Palmer assisted it and Watkins nailed it. Start these two heroes in the final.
It's used to be called made the goal not assist
stuart those shorts should be in the 80âs đ pearce, is spot on
Palmer has to start in the final!
No. No way.
Week point is trippier with no offensif power. Shaw is outpaced in defence though. Whole left side is week. Maybe saka swapped to the left. He can play that too. In this case palmer can start on the right. Is somebody else than saka able to play left wing back. Shaw and troppier are not the solution against Spain.
Netherlands goal was also brilliant!! We beat a very good side that was playing extremely well.
Brilliant - fantastic content.
I canât believe they have convinced themselves that was a penalty. Kane booted Dumfries. Weâve had a lot of luck in this tournament. Hopefully it will continue in the final because we will need it!
Dumfries himself has said it was a foul đ€·đœââïžđ€·đœââïžđ€·đœââïž
If a player hangs out his studs and an opponent makes contact on the follow through when clearing the ball, it's given as a foul everywhere else on the pitch. So why not in the penalty box?
Phenomenal

Way better reflection than ESPN Extra Time, which is appalling.
Was never a Penalty.
Everyone keeps staying Spain are the favourites. Man for man England are way the better team. We will win the final.
When the players stopped giving it to shaw and went to the right we improved...
Shaw was really negative when he came on, the couple of times that he was actually positive and passed/went forward he done well, he needed to try more.
We can all agree the shorts are the real stars of the video here
stuart pearce always had massive thighs.
So much better than the BBC/ITV analysis.
With respect to Pickford, he may be shorter, but his reactions are 5% better than most top class keepers, so his movement compensates for reach. Occasionally he'll not reach a ball but he will also react to balls that Shilton & Seaman have not been able to react to.

Although most of us were crying out for Shaw to come on for balance when he finally came on he didnât work along the wing with passes or runs or crosses he mostly just turned the ball back inside, slowly and predictably possibly more so than Trippier! Whatâs going on?!
Someone tell Pearcey to cheer up, weâre in the final!
England were proper good in the first half but the Dutch were too open in the middle and shored that up. Foden, Mainoo and Walker were immense. But it was never a penalty in a million light years. They are both entitled to go for the ball and their feet clashed. Has anyone bashed their toes off a door coming out of the shower and how much agony is - is that a foul on the door? Thats what happened with Kane - his pain came from his follow through.
Love the shower analogy... very true đ
Koeman changed his formation for the second half, playing just Weghost up front and placed 5 players deep in midfield which strangled England's midfield. That was the reason we lost control of the game.
If at the end of the tournament Harry kane fails to win the golden boot then at the very least he should be handed an honorary oscar for his performance in winning a penalty against the Dutchđ
To beat Spain we will have to play well for the entire match. I think the subs may have to be used way earlier, as we will be running after the ball for the majority of the time. We had some tired legs out there in the second half.
I disagree Iâm a Westham fan and under Moyes we played awful in most matches with moments of brilliance that would win us a game, Iâm hoping for a Moyes masterclass in the final
