- Forgotten Hope 2 A Complete WW2 MilSim For Free
Forgotten Hope 2 is an award-winning World War II modification for Battlefield 2TM and is based on the original Forgotten Hope, a modification for Battlefield 1942TM, one of the most popular multiplayer games ever. Battlefield 1942TM featured land, sea and air combat in a way never before seen. It was the goal of the development team to maximize the game experience by adding both a realistic and enjoyable gameplay to FH and now to FH2.
Note:
Before you download Forgotten Hope 2 you may need BATTELFEILD 2 after all, i installed Forgotten Hope 2 a long time ago and i don't remember it asking for BF2. After looking around some said it didn't others said it did need bf2 to work i honestly have no clue, do keep that in mined before you download.

Best thing about FH2 is that it just keeps on growing larger and larger. Theres brand new Belgian and Norwegiam factions being made and loads of other content coming in the future.
Indeed especially the new HUD overhaul, FH2 is unrecognizable now, it's so good.
player base keeps getting smaller and smaller
Very cool video, FH2 needs all the attention it can get. To explain the graphics part: what makes FH2 look so good, even with vastly outdated graphics engine by the 2023's standards, is the attention to details and mostly consistent art style. Those two combined result in a very convincing visual aspect of the game, where everything simply fits and blends together nicely.
True it's very distinct there is a sort of uncanny valley to it but in a good way.
It also offers a type of gameplay realism that you don't get in basically any other game. If you're hit by a rifle, you're either instantly dead or badly injured (which means you're slower, and if you don't take cover and use bandages you will bleed out). If you're hit by a machine gun or a shell, that's it, you're dead. If you want to survive for more than a minute, you have to be able to get into cover at all times and think carefully about your every move - you can't go running around spraying and praying like in Call of Duty, because that will draw fire from all directions and end you in seconds.
Thanks for this video! I've been playing this game since 2011, and it is my favorite fps of all time. The gameplay for me is the perfect balance: the machanics are realistic but you can play it like a Battlefield, just joining in en enjoying. Sound design is awesome, the artillery is great but a lot of their tanks have real tank sounds. They did all they could with the BF2 graphics engine. And it's completely crazy the modders are still building it. Thanks again for the video.
How are the servers these days? i want to play but dont know if people are still playing
Can't believe that you're actually algerian it's a breath of fresh air to see fellow countrymen interested by something other than FIFA, PES and similar stuff
Hey thanks man, glade to see we are the same in this regard
@@TheAlgerianBro and I'd like to compliment you on your pronunciation of English i didn't notice you were not a native until i checked the channel's name
i played or have most of ww2 or just war games but FH2 is still after all that years my fav ww2 game so far
Even though the game is less realistic than other milsims,it is very authentic and immersive.
Nice video. Could've used a little more info about All The Hardware that's available to the players (tanks, planes, boats, bikes, guns, pitchforks, etc.), and also the specific map choices. All based on actual battles, but not usually the ones you'd expect in a WWII game, like Stalingrad. Of course there are obvious maps like Omaha Beach or Bastogne, but not like you've seen 'm before.
That was the idea at first but it didn't feel right to me, i didn't want to overwhelm people instead, i wanted it to be short and to the point, who knows i may do a much more in depth video covering the rest in the future ;)
Oh, and you were right. Your video is not a commercial for the game after al, and there is indeed so much to point out in this mod that it deserves a seperate deep-dive into it. ;-)
Also look for Forgotten Hope Secret Weapons (FHSW) which is a mod for Battlefield 1942 if you enjoy WW2 games with historical accuracy and/or conceptual vehicles brought to a videogame. Youll love it.
Also name me any ww2 Game with 9 factions and around 54 maps outside of forgotten hope 2
And I think this is what makes forgotten hope 2 stand out from other ww2 shooter's and it's best aspect.
Example for maps you have stuff like Omaha beach or point point du hoc that every knows to battle so far I have seen no other ww2 Game represent like tali, operation Mars, mount Olympus and stonne
And same thing with weapons and vehicles you got stuff like the m1 grand, stg 44, tiger, Sherman's to likely never heard of the luftfaust, suomi KP/-31, wurgerat and camionetta 42
Darkest hour? Lol
Thanks for the love ❤
Love it! Spread the word!
I still don't understand... how do i INSTALL THIS GAME? I need to buy Battlefield 2 for the PC and then install that, and THEN download this game? please help
It's a long time ago i don't really remember, that's the thing some told me they didn't need bf2 while others said it needs it, sorry i can't help, i should have checked before hand my memories played tricks on me.
I think I should get this when I receive my ssd
It seems a good thing to stick with beside ps and ro2/rs
Does this work on a 2gb ram and 500 gb hdd laptop?
So it's us a better and cheaper version of hell let loose
Wonder how many people played Forgotten Hope 1, that was the gamechanger for Bf1942. Im happy FH2 is still alive.
✋loved playing both!
Hello, is there destruction in this game ?
And a progression system ?
No. As amazing as this mod is, it's still based on a pre-2005 engine (although tweeked to the max by now), so no destruction. And not having a progression system is a good thing, since you have to rely on skill to become anything near decent at it. No shortcuts to winning. ;-)
Sadly no destruction, FH2 runs on the battlefield 2 engine
A progression system in this type of game wont make sense with such a battle scale, the game is team based were everyone is equal, it's all about tactics and communication, your nothing more then a cog in a machine.
For destruction, the others talked about it, although I can specify: crappy wooden fences won't block vehicles, and hiding behind think wood planks won't protect you from bullets. They really did what they could to compensate the old engine.
For progression there is non, since armament in each map is really specific for historical accuracy. Each weapon in a map was actually in this very battle, same for vehicles. The attention to detail is insane, they recreated villages and stuff like that according to old plans and photographs. So having a random Tiger tank and a STG-44 in a 1940 map would destroy this important aspect.
Thanks for the answers all 👍
Just curious, does this have player (me) with bots vs bots? And will this run on potato?
edit: playing bot with bot confirmed.
Yes to both
2:46 Well, it usually that hot
Is battlefield 2 needed to get the mod?
Nope, it is standalone.
It's fully standalone, just get launcher from moddb.
I just downloaded it and it says I need BF2 folder to even install it
@@TheAlgerianBro
is it me or the server is empty? and some of them have code?...
Server is most active during european evenings, reaching up to 100 players.
You will find people in the evening and weekends, you can play singleplayer with bots.
By code, you mean password? Password protected servers are for tournaments only, you need to sign in to participate in one. Those battles usually take places on Fridays during active campaigns. Public servers are free to join by anyone, anytime, although FH2's community is mostly European, so you will find people online in European evening hours.
You can look up how populated servers are directly in your FH2 Launcher.
not milsim
It's not really a milsim though right?
It depends really however, given the historical accuracy in terms of battles, weapons and gameplay i'd say it is a milsim.
Make sure to get some buddy's for some role play lol
FH2 does have an arcade factor.
Weapon realism has to be translated into the engine with its limitations and map scale.
I think this is most obvius when it comes to planes, artillery and anti-tank weapons.
BF2 maps on their largest are 2.4 km by 2.4 km and max altitude for atmosphere also severaly scaled down.
A lot of the uniqueness is the implementation that aims for a realistic ratio according to the game scale and doing so also offers some rather fun arcade element as a by product.
These weapons are not implemented to have "faction equivalence" kits.
Apart from that there is still multiple other mechanics implemented which is more realistic but still feasable in a game where on team at max can only have 32(now 50) opponents each. Artillery being dependent on forward spotters, mines which have to be dug down(with useless metal detectors that REALLY needs a revamp).
This isnt even a standalone Mod and you need a retail version of BF2 to play the game. what a clickbait
U sure??
Weird, i've been playing FH2 for more then 3 years i don't believe it ever asked for BF2.
Standalone is available so you dont need BF2.
You have no clue what you are taking about
You don't need original BF2 to play this mod...
when i use the launcher it asks for a battlefield 2 install
it's not a milsim
