- Let me tell you, it was quite an effort to put this one together, so I really hope you enjoy it! 3 days of recording and editing went into making this vid, but it's always such a pleasure to read one of Michael Whitehouse's stories. This one is drenched in atmosphere; it's nearly an hour long, but stick with it!
I'm putting that Q and A vid together at the moment, too, so it should be with you this week or next!

Thanks so much for narrating my story, Doc. You did an amazing job as usual. A lot of narrators avoid the longer stories, but I think there is something to be said for setting the seen and creating dread. A slow build and chill is more effective to me than a short literary jump scare. I need to finish that story I was writing for you!

Ghastly Tales I'll be honest, the ending sort of lost me. it seemed like you wrapped up the story quickly and the focus on the big issue of them being homeless seemed to not be present at the end. loved the rest, just consider elaborating the ending.

Holy shit, I literally live a mile away from that castle in the thumbnail. I drive past it every day. I had to do a double take, this is so surreal.
I know the story is set in a cottage, but that image was the kind of imposing setting I felt would fit the story. Where is it?

Funny how you discover a channel on CZcams. I was listening to Creepypasta jr, fell asleep with automatic play on, woke up hours later hearing another creepypasta was on and thinking to myself "damn, what an awesome and interesting voice". Subscribed and fell asleep again :D now I got even more videoes to go through!

Doing long stories like this are really exhausting, but knowing that it helps people get through household chores keeps me motivated.

Doc I've been a subscriber almost since you started. Unlike others I've listened to you have never lost my interest. What do i mean by this? Every story you've read for us, is worth any price of admission. No weak links in your chain at all. Your narrations are simply flawless, except for an accent here or there. Whitehouse's words are like food for my soul. I drink his descriptive wording in like water. So sweet!!! So inspirational!!!
I always think of one memory in particular... I was super young (maybe 5/6, possibly youger again) and i was sat in my living room with ny grandmother. She took her fake teeth out behind my mothers back (as she didnt like it) to show us. Good times.
My grandmother used to do exactly the same!

Just listened to this again, as I have done several times. This, dear doctor, is the tale that got me subscribed, addicted.... I stopped listening for a while, due to a severe illness, I didn't want to associate your work with bad feelings, but have recently picked you back up again. I enjoyed the "fiance" series, and ' helltown" . Unfortunately i am unwell again, and need soothing, which you are, so I went back ty o the beginning for me; here . Thank you for being not to mention being dependable, great to your fans, and being gifted with your velvety expressive voice.

Hey Doc, I really enjoy the long stories, so I was listening again and picked up on something I missed the first time through. Beth aged two years from their first night at the peak to the two suitcases against the door to keep her from opening it. Again, appreciate your effort and talent.
I kind of have a feeling that might be deliberate, as in time has passed in a much different way for her as a result of being there.
what a richly done horror tale! I like how I get alarmed "what's wrong with the house?!" (in the style of the box in Seven) but it's a the perfect pace to keep you waiting for the answer! great narration as always!
Really brilliant and creepy...My dad bought a cottage in the village where he lived as a child. Dad and Mum used to go out for weekends and the garden and field were beautiful (so was the cottage). However my sister and I spent more time there than anyone and myself and my kids actually lived there full time. Over time there were many weird and scary things about that hill and we heard some terrifying stuff from locals about. presences and the crossroads just past the garden had a bit of a reputation for people seeing demonic beings there day and night. My son was gifted the cottage from my dad before dad died (he didn't like the idea of inheritance tax) Anyway, Ben(my son, my sister and I having downplayed the spooky aspect so this wasn't us put ideas in his head, judt so you know. ...he managed to get the creeps all ny himself and believe me he isn't particularly imaginative as an 'adult'. lol). He went to look at the parish records about the place and a couple of hundred years ago, a woman was run out of the village for 'Unchristian' practices and they built the cottage to banish her from the village. The other really creepy thing was that the old shed/byre in the garden had this kind of false wall and someone had been living in there for a long time. Ben sold it to the man next door who was trying to buy all the property on the hill adjacent to his cottage. ..Its not there any more but whatever used to scratch under the floorboards at night (and believe me I know that rabbits cannot make noises like that!) is still there and I hope his acquisition makes him happy. ..it is very beautiful but I don't think I could have walked along thst lane in the dark after getting off the last bus (at teatime) ever again. ..it was really creepy!

Absolutely LOVED it... the ending was twisted. Wow, he is, probably, on his way to becoming the next H.P. Lovecraft. That was so cool! You read it beautifully, thanks for the great narration!!
This was exceptional. The superb imagery was nothing short of marvelous. The Doc's narration was hauntingly intoxicating, perfection personified. I'd say the collaboration of Creepen and Whitehouse is as sublime as the pairing of Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett.

Dear god what a great story and read with the usual perfection. It had it all - desolation and misery and suspense and pure horror. Absolutely amazing. To top it off it made me feel sympathy and pity for an ancient shambling corpse - the poor other ‘Daddy’ trapped forever by the crone child. What terrible things had that man done to be consigned to an afterlife like that ? A story that can make me feel sorrow for basically a zombie is powerfully written and told indeed.
Now I can't get the word "undulating" out of my head :-)

I listened to this story a week or so ago. Over the days since, I find myself thinking of it, or being reminded of it at odd times. Wonderful job to the writer, and to my absolute favorite narrator, our dear doc in bringing so much atmosphere.

Creepy story here. I'm usually not hit by creepypastas, but once in a while, one comes along that puts a chill in me, and this was one. Michael Whitehouse certainly seems to be a skilled author, one of many who I could only imagine aspiring to.

Quite good! Strangely realistic for a tale. The author knows how to weave a haunting tale with reality.
Really great job on this one. Creepy, moody and very scary. I like how the main character had to deal with two levels of fear in this story.

Lovecraft did an Amazing job of painting the picture but you,JD, brought it to life!! I honestly felt like I was right there watching all this unfold!! Guess you can't tell I liked it,,,well, I didn't,,, I Loved it!!! Best one so far, it may have taken the place of the one about the kids in the woods calling for "Creeping Horror" to come.. Loved the story and narration! I did find it interesting how Beth began the story 7 years of age but by the end, she was 9.....
I'm guessing it was a deliberate lot point that was easily overlooked... time had moved by much differently for those in and around the cottage.
