It was un-sporting and unbecoming for the England batter to try and steal a run by giving herself an unethical and unfair advantage by moving out of the crease.
It was not just within the rules but also poetic justice that the English batter was run out and England lost the match.

Truth is gamesmanship or mental disintegration was never in the rules of the game nor in the spirit of the game. Fast bowlers from Western world showed eyeballs, made faces, questioned the integrity of mothers of the sub-continental batsmen, who struggled with English, attitude and colonial mindset to give it back to them. World thought that was all part of the game. When superrich, bullish attitude, super talented and supremely athletic Kohli type batsmen started giving it back, people thought it was mindless aggression, not really in the spirit of the game. Western commentators thought and wondered how long does it last. Now, when someone plays the game following the rules, runs out a Non-striker who is trying to steal a few inches every ball, then the world starts thinking about the spirit of the game. ! Wow!! Heights of duplicity and hypocrisy!! Now that Nasser Hussain , the English cricketer comments that it is in the rules of the game, I hope that the world would not question his place of birth (India) and his ancestry and or his religion. I hope not.
Sharma did the right thing. The British batter was taking undue advantage by leaving the crease early. Sharma taught her the lesson of her life. Sharma deserved the title of Player of the Match . But the crooked officials denied it to her.
