@gary jones, bollocks. The chief cause of the ruin of Evans' life was his wrongful conviction, which Ennis-Hill had nothing to do with. Moreover, her comments were made before his appeal and retrial were underway: at that time, he was a convicted rapist and she had a right to voice an opinion on the matter, regardless of whether you agreed with it or not. I seriously doubt her words have had any bearing on Evans' fortunes since.

Bronze medals are bronze. Gold and silver medals are 92.5% silver, so both are the exact same medal except that gold medals are plated with 6g gold leaf. Some years had different cast, like the 2018 winter Olympic silver medals were 99% silver.

well to explain graham's inquiry about "7 events = 1 medal". each event, or contest is an event into its own, and anyone (who qualifies) can compete in that event for a medal. jessica not necessarily an olympic champion in any individual event, she does hold 3 british female records, or did, but her event, the heptathlon is specifically a competition of 7 events/disciplines combined. and usually given the moniker of the worlds greatest athlete because she/they are so good in many disciplines.
Thanks for explaining it. Good job. I recall when Jim Thorpe won the pentathlon and the decathlon in 1912 the french protested because they said he wasnt an amateur. He was the first person to ever compete and win both events at the same olympics. His medals were finally restored in 2022. Seventy years after died.
@@zapkvr and jim thorpe considered the greatest athelete of his time, they took his gold medals for playing semi-pro baseball, unrelated sports to his olympic track accomplishments, never would have been taken from a white man.
