There's nothing new in this. The British codebreakers that eventually broke Enigma, even before they knew what the encrypted messages said, tracked and predicted German troop movements just from the frequency and length of the Enigma messages. Cracking it merely added details. (by the way this technique was classified until like '98)

Well yes, but...I take issue with the implication. Thinking that Silicon Valley is a bad actor in this is a misread.
A butter knife can be used, misused or abused.
Use: spread butter on toast.
Misuse: screw-in a common head screw.
Abuse: gouge someone's eye out.
Silicon valley may have created the technology which is the basis for this scenario, but with no hostile intent.
And you know damn well that there's a room in the Pentagon or some other secure facility, that has a little dot for each cell phone in the U.S. Click on the dot, and see everything you need to know about the person holding the account. Don't be too quick to point a finger in contempt, when intelligence agencies (foreign and domestic) are the ones weaponizing these things.
Irrelevant but a funny story about butter knives, when I was 14 I made a horrible joke, absolutely dry, to my friend. He took one of the butter knives from my drawer and pretended he cut his wrist because the joke was so bad. I watched him literally ever so lightly touch his skin with the blade and it split open like...butter. we were both in shock at how well and easily it had cut him, then came testing the knife on random objects haha.

Money talks, bullshit walks. Silicon valley creations might be made with good intentions but the creators are bought out with unrealistic amounts of money.
Silicon Valley would sell their dead grandma's panties for a dime. While initial discovery had no "ill intent," it became "ill" quickly and Silicon Valley was lining their bank accounts and looking for additional ways to sell users down the river. Facebook is an excellent example. Their intent, from the start, was ad revenue using people's info. The "connecting people" was a BS smoke screen.

You are outright lying. All of this is well-known and documented publicly over the last 10-15 years.
