Spot on. I always have my finger on my laptop's right arrow key so I can fast forward past the intro and them spending a few minutes explaining why they haven't made a video in a while or telling everyone all of the social media platforms that they're on and blah blah blah. Customer service tip: Thank your buyer for their interest when they ask your about an item and let them know when you will have the information they asked for. I agree, It's a great platform. Great tips! I have all 4 badges! I had never heard that listing more makes your listings higher on others’ lists... I did notice the more I listed, I sold, :) so makes sense. Questions: when I change a price of something... been changing some to free shipping and lowering the overall price... do the likers get
that notification under their “my likes”, or does it actually promote it? Also, how long do you wait to promote something or give a private sale? Like, I have a pretty desired item, have 10 likes within a few hours, but I could lower the price a little. Should I do that the same day, while their interest is up? I’m not in a hurry to sell it, but my likes are not increasing for about 5 hours. maybe wait and I might sell it for the listed price?

If you are using the promote button it should be sending an notification to those who have like the item! I do think it also promotes the Listing up the regular search algorithim a bit since its no longer stale. As for how often you want to promote the item, it is totally up to your personal preference! I usually wait about 30 days before I start promoting and lowering the price, but that's just me!

Also as a cosmetics seller it is hard to compete with the counterfeiters it is a counterfeiters market they can list as much as they want & don’t get red flagged for a while it’s absolutely insane
Yikes, I haven't sold cosmetics so I don't know much about that market, if they are counterfeiters hopefully they will be reported and shut down!

Thanks for much for the helpful tips, Cooper! My favorite tip was customer service. Good service and positive communication has been working for me. I have been selling on Mercari now for a few months and am doing great. I'm looking to move a lot of my ready to ship party items from my Etsy party shop (my shop has tanked over on Etsy and I am tired of fighting their ever changing algorithm of the Etsy platform!) moving everything over to Mercari to sell it off- but my party supplies have not been selling very well. Any tips on selling the same item with lots of various designs and/or colors (I have a few hundred popcorn boxes all in bright colors in stripes, dots and chevrons) that I need to move. Willing to clearance them low too. Maybe list them in sets of 5 as smaller quantities? List in mixed colors and designs (rather than a set of 10 boxes in one color, one design)? Any tips on how to reach that 'mom planning a party' market? Currently I market on Instagram and on my blog. Thanks again. Great helpful videos.
No problem! Customer service is key! I'm not very familiar with the party supply niche, but I like your different ideas. I would give each of them a try and maybe try to do some bigger lots? Also would post to facebook marketplace/offerup/craigslist to get some extra local eyeballs. People are always looking for good deals on there even if they have nothing they are particularly looking for! :)
Hey. Great advice. When you suggest deleting and resisting items that have been listed for a while, do you recommend that for items that have linkers on them as well? Thank you.
That's a good question, if the item has a lot of likes I would send them private offers a few times to see if they bite. If they never bite then I would delete and relist the item to try and get some new likes who will bite or buy straight up
also if you feel uneasy about deleting a listing, what i do is if i want to relist an item, ill just deactivate a previous listing of the same item. it makes me feel more secure that i can just reactivate that previous listing at any time!

Be careful though if you ever have to go on vacation, you have to deactivate all listings and then reactivate them all at the same time and might be a pain to go back and deactivate the duplicates. Unless there is a legit vacation mode added that I havent found yet!

Hey there !! Thanks for the tips. I recently have taken up online sales. I have all types of stuff including collectables such as sports cards, comic books, and many other types of antiques. Where would you recommend me to sell those? And any other tips or apps you use ? I of course have games (tons of electronics both new and old) and clothes. Lots of things with the tags still on them. Good question! This is usually very rare when an item sells on both platforms at the same time, but if it does happen you have to end up cancelling on one platform. No way around it unfortunately, and definitely send a message to the user saying why. I would always be honest with them. Also I would alternate which platforms you cancel duplicate sales on because they can negatively affect your account if you have too many cancelled orders on one site :) Just be sure to delete items off other platforms as soon as possible when they sell on another!
Heres what i learned from another great video , never list your item on more one venue , keep each market seperate . So you have an izod polo mens shirt , you only list that one item on best venue . This way you never run into this issue . Ive encountered this an its a no , no . For me now is tryin be more power seller , im at stalemate an need figure out finding hot items to sell . Happy selling ..

Correct, shipping in 1 business day, selling the item friday night will give you until monday night to ship it out! :)

Great video question when you recommend hiding sold listings I feel like they clutter up your page but they also show people that you have things that sold so I don't know which is better
Solds are good social proof, especially if you dont have a lot of reviews, but either way I dont think it really matters. As long as you have good items at good prices you are good to go 👍

Yeah paypal shipping is usually is cheaper now that mercari raised their shipping prices!
Nice, I learned this tip from a woman who blogs about Mercari. It's much better in most cases. I did get 1 $5 Shipping on a Funko Pop, but it was 13 oz going to California, which made sense because I'm in New York. Most items should be $3.65 to $4.80 shipping. *Also tip for you guys, when you buy inventory, use sites like Ebates, Retail me not and or buy stuff in bulk if where you buy from has deals so you have more margin to play with when you post. If an item is $10 and free shipping is at $35. Wait till you have some products you want to buy that reach the free shipping minimum, use a cashback site for 1%-3% back AND use any codes they have or deals when buying. It's super dope.

Tried selling on Mercari. Got my first sale. Mercari tells you that you have until a certain day to ship the item. I had until tomorrow, and they cancelled the order today when I was preparing to ship it because they said I did not ship on time. Their email said I had until Wednesday August 21st (tomorrow) to ship the item. What BS. Don't trust Mercari. What happens if it was already shipped and they cancelled.
Yeah that is a bummer, in my experience people expect you to ship within 1 business day of purchase or they get antsy!

I recommend giving ebay a try! I usually make a lot more sales on ebay compared to mercari, although I think the mercari expereience is better as a seller

If you deactivate and reactivate its as if you’re just changing the visibility it doesn’t reshow your listing as new

If it didn't work you might try sending the message on the desktop or mobile instead, whichever one you might not have tried yet, if you tried both already you might just have to wait and try to send it again at a later time :)

I dont have a video on that but I might have to make one! I think bundling is super smart for certain situations! For example, I've seen kids clothes bundles that do very well!

Hello! I don't believe there is a save draft option on desktop at this time, there is a way to deactivate all your listings at once if you are going on vacation, on the app go to your listings, hit "select", "select all" and then deactivate :) then do the same thing and reactivate when you are back :)

Hahaha thank you, I dont have a link to my account now, but I recommend starting with selling things around the house. Then using those profits at thrift stores and garage sales and keep the snowball rolling into more items. Defitneily research anything and everything before buying to make sure it will sell!

10 each for public, i don't use private very often but I think you can do more than 10 a day
My things keep getting prohibited but I don’t understand! I read all prohibited items but mine are literally not and other sellers are listing THE SAME item but theirs is still up! Mercari keeps sending a dumb automated prohibited item message so annoying! I have over 180 5 star reviews so I know what I’m selling!
What is the item/items getting prohibited? There are certain weird things that set off triggers that prohibit items, the word velcro is an example of this on ebay for sure and maybe Mercari
Cooper The Reseller I always list item on whats weekly trending, So I’ve seen some dog seat cover gets sold and I had them in stock so decided to list them. Mercari then proceeded to delete and send me an automated “ Your listing is considered prohibited from out community “ I was very confused cuz others are also selling the exact Item! And this happened for many of my items they keep sending its prohibited and its removed my marketplace when they don’t fall into the prohibited item category not only that but some of my competitors STEAL my image for the exact item and mercari doesn’t care them never remove those! I have selling and get some sales but honesty hoped the customer service would improve!

How does Taxes work?
For each calendar year, if you have at least $20,000 in unadjusted gross sales and 200 transactions or more, a Form 1099-K will be provided to you.
If you do not meet both of these requirements, you will not receive a Form 1099-K from mercari. This is the main tax for used from mercari, if you sell less than those thresholds it is your responsibility to track and do taxes on!
I have over 200 items listed & it’s just sitting in my closet there’s people who sell like crazy for higher prices than mine I don’t get it
There could be a lot of different reasons for this, it could be your SEO, how clean and bright your pictures are, are the items you are selling highly in demand? Is there a ton of competition? Are they long tail? Don't get discouraged! Do some research and figure out why those other people are selling like crazy and try to implement some of their strategies! :)
@@cooperthereseller I'm not selling like crazy but I shouldn't expect to as I just started posting on 10/14 but I have 6 sales so far. I mainly list things related to Funko Pops, Anime, Super Hero and gaming stuff. One strategy I used was looking for sold listings on Mercari that sold recently that has at least 4-6 likes and checking what the title was. Takes and description seems to play a role in SEO (duh) But people don't see the impact unless you mess around on Mercari. Before I list I search for the same item I'm selling to see what comes up. I notice my items not getting views are not really getting likes are not demand or a bit pricey. As I'm refining them, more views and likes are coming. it's pretty cool, I like it so far. @@mrfred1000 Mercari is changing the game on selling online, agree on checking before listing and then be ready to act (I have a new respect for my phone since getting off the ebay app and installing MERCARI instead, (yes closed my ebay account, it is dead there unless you are selling mountains of the same item from your china wholesaler and have a warehouse... anyway for a smaller seller MERCARI will be FAST and FUN and you can finally see SALES action with MERCARI, just give it time learn it and enjoy the app, I certainly have!!!

If using mercari labels, Always enter the correct weight before posting the listing, otherwise it's a pain to fix it after it sells!

Repricing is very important! I like to use the promote to everyone public sale on items that have been sitting a while!

@@indioskinner7768 I recommend looking at sold listings on eBay in different categories and seeing what sells, or you can go to thrift stores and look up every item to see how much they sell for and how often as well!

I think it can help boost your items in the search results, which theoretically can help boost your sales, but at the Same time I don't think its do or die

I have had limited success on Mercari . There are a lot of lowballers. I sell across multiple platforms and Mercari has to be the worst

@@lawhispersasmr6124. I sell successfully on facebook marketplace. However some high end items will sell better on Ebay, Amazon or Mercari. Just do your research. I also created my own local facebook group and provide free online clearance deals while promoting my items . I also hold a liquidation sell once a month at my residence on items I buy wholesale. I allow members of my facebook group first dibs on the items with a set time and date. I open it to the public at a different time and date. This creates a sense of urgency, competition and impulse buying. It works for me but each market is different depending on your area.
I do all that but don’t have all my badges. And I ship fast and respond fast and all me reviews are great. Just one good and one poor but they was the customers fault. Real moody if u will
Yeah it took a bit of time for my badges to pop up, just keep making more sales and eventually they will show up for you!
How do you get followers? I only have 7. I get likes no sells.
Have super great customer service. Make friends with them when they message you and you are more likely to get a follow!
I block the myriad of low ball offer people in Mercari.
I literally don’t want to work for free for them.

I have a sell thru rate of about 30ish % a month, so 70% has got to sit somewhere until it sells! Walking into a retail store has a bunch of stuff sitting around too 🤔
