The wow lore used to be so good and something I actually enjoyed and cared about. I feel like it deteriorated over the expansions and by the time MOP came out I just couldn’t care less.
I thought even in MoP it was pretty good, WoD time travelling was really dumb since the only influence it ever had was bringing Gul'Dan back, then in Legion it was pretty good again but since BFA its just unenjoyable. Dragonflight is a littlebit better than the previous expansions but it doesnt excite me anymore

ironically MoP lore is one of the best lore of the warcraft licence. Turn the Panda theme into idk secluded druid theme and dare to tell me it's bad. Ypu just don't like the aesthetic because in term of lore and how we experienced it, it was peak !

I believe the story of Varian is not only in the books in the game, you know those books laying around everywhere you can read in-game. It ties it all together.
I would like to mention in one of the books, I dont remember which one - probably Day of the Dragon, Neltharion aka Deathwing was disguised as Lord Prestor as well. This women in Stormwind next to Anduin was very suspiscous for me!! Mystery solved.
Some chatter said in the video "Deathwing is smarter, he just attacks head on"... kekw, chat doesnt know.
Lord Prestor was a thing before Arthas happened so thats why he cant ever be seen ingame as the storyline you mentioned had been completed already... the whole prior debacle in Lordaeron was orchestrated by Deathwing, including the fall of Alterac. Then deathwing got his ass kicked at Grim Batol and had to run away to heal, 4 fully powered dragon aspects are no joke and he got jumped by them. (demon soul was destroyed so they got their powers returned at grim batol and deathwing got surprised)
I like how Neltharion continued his father's experiments in creating the perfect dragonflight while Onyxia continued the subterfuge among humankind.
Daddy was licking his wounds in Deepholme while his kids were up and about.
Im not entirely sure about the events in the timeline but i believe during Lordaeron stuff Lich King was already building his influence in Northrend... fighting the vrykul and nerubians so the plague wasnt anywhere close to Eastern Kingdoms yet.
Its my favorite era of stories in WoW. Just before the arrival of the orcs. Medivh also deleted the entire Deadwind Pass (hence the name) and killed dozens if not hundreds of Stormwind nobles who were there visiting in an invitation-only banquet, which Medivh hosted regularly as per request from his butler Moroes to avoid becoming a hermit.
It would have been impossible for Onyxia to do all this if Medivh was still active... such a powerful mage like Medivh wouldve seen through her disguise easily, but alas he was dead by then. Its interesting to note how everything went to sh*t around stormwind after Medivh happened/died. He was their Gandalf or Dumbledore.
Single player content that teaches lore of the game :add in Scenarios where you play as different important characets in WoW Lore and play through some important and defining moments
Give a decent cosmetic reward and make the combat fun to play as (playing ass varian should feel like a supped up warrior) Almost like the raid of undercity quest that was frickin fantastic.
Wow has so much interesting lore that NEEDS to be implemented in the game for it to retain people and stay healthy

My head canon is that the player character is Lo'Gash since he loosely follows the alliance player characters arc after the initial zone quests
The game can make it work by just slotting in any given player created character as needed, whether into a block of text or a cutscene but other forms of media can't really do this.
Comics came after. Another point was the Ashbringer comics. It changed the players storming Naxx in vanilla to Darian. Hence why he had the Corrupted Ashbringer in the Death Knight starting quests in Wrath.

Back when WoW lore was still layered and complex enough to be entertaining but not so outlandish that you could still follow it.
I have no problem with an actual character doing what the players did in-game. When reading lore about WoW bosses, i often saw that in the end, they got killed by random adventurers... It got a bit boring and anticlimactic.

I miss the whole Xaryu & Pikaboo dominate arena arc
the resolution is that varian killed onyxia, but they changed it to make the game more interesting and fun for the players because its was a cool boss fight. Cannon lore is that varian killed her. The player characters in the actual cannon lore of the game dont exist. Its an adaptation of a universe that already existed, at least in the first 3/4 expansions or so.
Player characters DO exist... they just arent heroes or champions, they are just adventurers who may or may not die randomly... which is accurate. :D
There have been mentions of adventurers a few times in the lore, but they never do anything significant because that would be boring if a no name character kills a big villain so there must always be actual characters with names and history.
@@Otakahunt your right, and so our player characters dont exist. Other, nondescript and inconsequential adventurers do, but our player characters are champions and have done great things, even in classic wow. We killed onyxia ragnaros etc etc. None of that is cannon in the original world of warcraft that the game is an adaptation of

Absolutely not. Its no really worth it my guy. A pointless time sink. If you like the story, read the books rather then playing the game.
Classic WoW yes its a slow process but that's kind of the point of classic. Retail is harder to get into as a new player.
Try it for yourself. Dont listen to the people commenting here who are watching WoW CZcamsrs but saying its bad.
You should make that decision yourself, however as a player I strongly advice against starting.
Lore wise the game has really gone to shit.
The biggest issue however is blizzard themselves. If you ever run into issues that needs help from the support team at blizzard you will not be treated well.
If u start play wow vanilla era , sod or wotlk. Then try a lil bit of retail if u like. I play wotlk and retail, pretty fun. Doing mythic raid rn

Xaryu most of this lore is in books and not in game sadly, It would've taken way too long to put every ounce of lore from the Warcraft universe into WOW... admittingly there is quite alot of lore if you READ the quest lol. I'm guilty of it myself although I read the books
