- Due to State borders closure, we ended up going to Tibooburra, NSW Australia to look for gold and were fortunately rewarded not only by finding gold but also a whole lot of Petrified Wood and rocks to use for my succulent arrangements. We also took our budgie Pedro along...

Great video Liz, you and Wal always provide such interesting trips. Had to look on maps to find Tibooburra, it really is out the back of Burke, some great looking gold and equally great petrified wood. Another location to add to my fossicking list. Defiantly try a few closer to home first before venturing that far out with our new campervan.

I finally got to the Weld River last year for the sapphire prospecting and now I'm looking at buying a bush block to build a farm near there so I'm able to prospect anytime I want.

Thanks for watching Rob. Tibooburra is a good place to while the time away. Unfortunately, there's no free camping. For Mount Stuart Station, payment ($10/day for camping $10 for detecting) can be made at the Road house. For Gum Vale Station, you can pay at the PUB at the same rate. I wanted to ask what equipment you use for detection? I am new and looking at your videos to find some places that are not full of people all year 😁I prefer my stones not so much the gold, but beggars can't be choosers 🤣
Unfortunately there are people everywhere in these locations. Some more than others as access is limited to the season. A lot of these places we go to are only open for certain time of the year. I use a Minelab SDC 2300 metal detector.

Just wondering if there is there many places to camp out there and how long did you stay and put up with those damn flies ?
We stayed for three weeks and plenty of places to stay. Caravan park and motel in town (close to the gold fields) but you can also stay at the goldfields. Just have to pay your fees at the Service station for Mt. Stuart Station and Pub for Gum Vale Station. Good luck and stay safe. Cheers, Liz

Just a question, but wouldn’t you be looking for billabong or dry river beds for you gold prospecting?

Got my gaters from a Mining/detecting shop. My shoes are Oliver with plastic capping. Got it from a mining shop at Port Hedland in WA.
just wondering what do you do with such tiny nuggets of gold? do you melt them and combine them into something bigger?
