  • For side-by-side seaming, the mattress stitch is generally the best way to go - all you’ll need is a blunt tip tapestry needle to seam your edges.

I could not go on crocheting without stopping to tell you thank you. I had been searching for an ideal stitch that would work for a new purse I'm crocheting. Because I used crochet panels, its tedious. I became so frustrated and wanted to give up. Actually, I did give up...for two whole weeks. Yet, the Lord encouraged me to follow suit today. Just when I wanted to give up again today, I ran a CZcams search once more, and stumbled across the "best mattress stitch" teacher ever. Truly, my heart is overjoyed right now and I thank you. To some this may not mean a lot. However, to anyone like me, who struggles with perfectionism, this meant the world. 😭😭😭😭😭😭. Thank you so much once again and pray heaven's best over your life! New subbie💖💖💖💖💖

Thanks for showing the mattress stitch running up the side where there are chains. I have a garment with lots of 3 and 4 stitch turning chains on the sides and was insecure about how to seam them.

This is so helpful - I've had such a hard time trying to figure out how to join the chains to a double stitch. Thank you!
