  • The Glastonbury Thorn Tree is a fascinating symbol. Tradition maintains it's origination is tied to Joseph of Arimathea who knew Jesus Christ. Where the thorn tree grows, on the Wearyall Hill in Glastonbury, England is where it is believed Joseph of Arimathea started the first church in England in approximately 65 A D.
Every year, at Christmastime, the flowers bloom. For the last 100 Christmases, the Glastonbury Thorn bough has been placed on the Royal Christmas table.
In December of 2010, the tree was cut down in the middle of the night by vandals. As of now, it is still unclear who cut down the tree.

Jesus-"Split the wood & you'll find me there, lift the stone & there I am" from the Gospel of Thomas
Legend has it Joseph planted his staff in the ground & by the next morning it was rooted & flowering. That is because the cup of Jesus' blood was buried beneath it.....the Holy Grail !
I live in the US but my Parents were both from Ireland so you can tell em Sean Thomas Casey from San Diego Ca. found the Holy Grail buried beneath the Glastonbury Thorn, I didn't dig it up but it's there. Figures an Irishman not a Brit would find it !

Actually the tradition is that St Joseph of arimathea had kept the holy crown of throne with him and when he and his wife St Mary magdelin came to England at this place in glastonnburry while they rested he placed the crown of thrones on the floor and while picking it up it remained there on the ground firmly and later it grew Into a tree and it blossomed every Easter and Christmas.

Rumour has it it was the farmer. Typical, considering they always bang on about guardians of the countryside and all that.
