    Surely you could have an altar railing for the laity to receive the Blessed Sacrament on their knees and on the tongue above the paten "to give glory to God?"

      chanan mattison Some people do still kneel if they choose too. A lot of the monks are older though and struggle. And very few churches use a handled paten under the mouth anymore. Communion bread isn't as crumbly as it used to be!

      We have a communion rail in our local parish church (Church of England), and in my local Catholic Church, people normally stand for communion. I always offer up my hands to receive the bread rather than in the mouth. I don’t like the idea of germs going directly into my mouth, and also the risk of catching germs from the chalice when receiving wine, especially now because of the pandemic.

    who'd have thought Monks working towards peace and tranquillity make a product that creates such pain, anger and sheer violence in Scotland, its almost irony?
