1.GATHER
•Gather awareness, embrace what is on your mind
•Don't automatically view the thought/feeling as something negative but more so as a natural reaction to life's stressors, events etc. It is simply a "sign"
2.REFLECT
•Name the feeling/ thought (1-2 min)
ie. I am sad about... (be as specific as you can)
Ask yourself: Whats happening? Why? What are the warning signs? How is my body reacting?
•This process weakens the particular toxic thought/emotion
•Thought then becomes malleable
3. WRITING
Write down the information you have just assessed in your gather & reflect step
•You take control over the thoughts
•This process increases your insight
4. RE-CHECK
•A mental autopsy. Review all you've written
•Quickly visualize the worst case scenario and then immediately move into solution mode
•Write down the worst case scenario and beside it write down two or three solutions
•"How would you handle it if this happened?" Aka pre-plan
5. REACH
•Put your plan into action
•Establish positive affirmations to keep you anchored in a safe space

I did some of this and when I woke up I was feeling "chill" all day but didn't quite realize it was the 5 step process. I did some more and I feel I had spent 6 months meditating in a monastery. I am 77 and for the first time I know what it feels like to be an adult.
