Liuwa Plains is a little known but HUGE wilderness area in North West Zambia.
It plays host to the second largest migration of Wildebeest/Gnu in Africa.
Each park we have been to seems to have a rhythm, and it took us a while to understand Liuwa, but once we did, it opened itself to us and rewarded us with our first ever Lion kill which was incredible.

I have absolutely loved every single video on your journey and it was amazing to see all the places you visited.
The fact that you traveled with your children makes it more relatable to what I want to do.
I was just wondering if you guys did a TIP for every country including Kenya as I hear its expensive or if you had a Carne de passage? If so did it include the trailer or do you have a separate Carne de passage for the trailer?

Hey there, thanks for the kind words. We did have a Carne, which did help, but also sometimes was confusing for border officials. Kenya is the only country where it is mandatory. Cost wise, I think it may average out, depending on the value fo the vehicle. We had to get one for the car and one for the trailer, although I would not get for the trailer again. No-one seems to care about the trailer. The other thing we did was get a Comesa yellow card which covers your 3rd party insurance. #rd party was always a pain to get at borders and was always a price haggle. Really worth it.

@@4ina4x4 thanks for the advice much appreciated.
If I'm not going to Kenya I will just do the TIP.
Where did you get the Yellow card insurance from as yes I also find it a hassle to get at the borders especially Zambia wich was the most expensive and time consuming border so if they accept the Yellow card insurance it would be a great idea

How man lions live in Liuwa now. Wasn’t that the place where ‘the last lioness’ documentary was recorded?

HI, yes that is the same place. Not sure how many Lions are there now, but yes they introduced more Lions since that documentary.

Lady Liuwa was first mated w 1 male but he died during transportation, then another 2 young males (1 was shot) => lone male, then 2 females (also 1 was shot) => the alive lioness named Sepo.
Together they formed a pride of 3 lions => Lady could not have any cubs but support Sepo to raise hers. The first littles are 2 females and 1 male. All reaches adult so the pride was up to 6. But a replacement of dad and son down number to 5.
Later Sepo has 2 more male cubs => pride up to 7 lions
New male was brought to the pride to strengthern gene of lion but bad things happenned
=> lady died due to natural cause
=> Sepo died to protect 2 male cubs as they are not related to the new male
      => Pride of 6 lions
=> recently 5 new cubs was introduced by 2 lioness, Sepo’s girls
=> Pride should up to 11 now
