It's insane how high the skill ceiling is for this game. Even within a group of the best players in the community, Shoujo was demonstrably dominating this race.

This race was AMAZING. And Shoujo's sight-reading skills are scary good. I've never not been impressed watching her play.
I love that even though Carl is wearing a mask and you can't hear his voice at all, you can still tell that he's having his mind blown by that Mode 7 level

@@d4s0n282 anything is possible in modding. they could add a power up that turns you into sonic and suddenly transforms the stage, making all the pipes become tunnels you roll through, and loopty loops appearing, etc, then it goes 3d and you're running through a tunnel dodging spikes, then get a power up turning you into donkey kong and hop in a mine cart collecting bananas, then you make it into the real world and you're playing street fighter and then wake up as link realizing it was all a dream. lol

There were two races?
She was carrying for most of the race. Carl and Juz were pretty even in contributions, but Shoujo showed them up big time. Knew she was good, but it's just mind-blowing to see her with no cuts.

There is a cap though, 15 minutes per level and at least a second per level for the animation means each level could never get more than 900 deaths, or 6,300 deaths in total across all 7 levels.
I'd hate to be the person paying out on that many deaths though, $5*6,300 = $31,500. Would make it a very expensive game of Mario.

@@pg-erk3938 Yeah, I get the point of it. It makes for a better show. It's like in Family Feud, the third round is the only one that matters. We're not here to watch a fair game, we're here to enjoy the game. But, it's also something people mock a lot about Family Feud.

That Maddy level was hilarious 😂. Absolutely fantastic, I loved the whole thing.
this race was. amazing. i was on the edge of my seat the whole time and seeing Shoujo clutching out level after level had me so hyped. the feeling of "i can't believe you've done this" when Cyber Kenisis first changed up the level was unmatched. and as a huge Crypt of the Necro dancer, seeing what that fucking mad wizard DToTheFourth had done yet again was so hype. i also loved maddy's level and how she threw in some comedy over some of the most solid and tight gameplay i've seen since VVVVVV
This race was not only fun to watch, but to commentate as well (I'm part of the Brazlian Portuguese's Restream team), super cool levels, awesome players, and what was that Maddy's troll kaizo block

re: reward system for winning levels, i think it's a neat way to keep the players motivated! no letting down your guard bc you think you're ahead, and no giving up because you might be running behind, AND it keeps viewers invested because the outcome could swing either way!

I have been watching you compete in these for years and I go back once in a while just to rewatch these races because they are just that entertaining. I hope they keep doing these and I hope you keep attending, because seeing you compete along side your friends and other members of the community never gets old
Love the Legends of the Hidden Temple theme. "On the left we have the Green Dinos, on the right we have Purple Dolphins. They'll be competing in the Shrine of the Silver Koopa."

Those levels were fantastic. Favorites definitely go to the rotating/shrinking level, and the flipping level. But every level was so excellently designed.

What were your favorite levels on this, Carl? It looks like the Ferpy level was a particularly high point. I really liked the Tungsten boot.
They all had awesome moments. The pipe literally connecting itself at the end of level 1 was hype. The boots were so awesome, the shockwave and sound and everything I just FELT while playing and the ending troll was hilarious. Yoshi fly is a favorite tech of mine so I really enjoyed that. Ferpy's level is probably the coolest level ever made. Maddy's alleged level had me allegedly ROLLING, she is allegedly SO FUNNY. Who doesn't want to hang out with a lesbian worm. And, well, we just played necrodancer on real super nintendo hardware, because apparently that's possible if you're an actual wizard.

It's amazing how you can tell when Shojou is playing because of the way Mario moves. I don't know how to describe it, but it's like you feel she not wasting a pixel when she moves. Does it make sense?
