  • Joanna grew up as a Jehovah's Witness. Her mom was a paranoid Schizophrenic.
    It fueled her to keep Joanna and her siblings under control. Her family switched congregations often because of her mom's illness.
    In this interview, she shares her experience of being sexually abused as 14 years old by two men who were 21 that were best friends inside the organization.

    Can you imagine how limited this woman would be if she remained a JW? Pioneering with toxic people, reinforcing relationships with people who barely see her? Broken and ignoring her brokenness.🌎💜

    Watching this interview was tough. I immediately see how dysfunctional her mom was and effected her. The organization members the..two guys saw an easy opportunity to take advantage of this young lady. They use their narcissistic teachings to pass her around and blame her. I am sure they all had a part on it.. but the guys took advantage. These religious cults are terrible and a clear example what they do to people. I hope this you lady find peace all around.. I really see her to be very unstable. Find a great therapist and keep learning about whatever you want without restrictions. Thank You for sharing and sure will do amazing now that you are free.

      @Omar Seneriz -- yes, it takes a "village" of dysfunctional people to contribute to a young person's downfall. Unfortunately this young woman had no one to turn to or talk to; she also found herself in a misogynistic institution and culture that contributed to her being taken advantage of. It's heartbreaking to hear her story, but I am glad she is in a better place. I had a very similar experience, but not to the extent that she did. There are so called "brothers" who will destroy another person's life and well-being and think nothing of it. Really sad!

    Glad to see that you have broken free & living your own life! I do take issue however with your take on the elders being lustful. That is your "opinion." I encourage you to keep living your life & find what brings you happiness. So sad that you were in a toxic congregation. I was asked only once to write a letter of disassociation & I told the elder that I was not going to do that.

    Thank you Joanna for your courage to share your sad story and the inspiring messages. My biggest straw waking up from this org is CSA problems. I understand we are imperfect human but this org was telling us that we are the only pure and true love org. So I believed from bottom of my heart there is no CSA in this org. but it was no different from other religion org! The worst is they were hiding it! And your story tells it all, so so sad and sorry you went through those trauma. Even God and Holy Spirit ignored CSA! Unbelievable! I’m free now from religion. Thanks Vevian for this video and please regards to her.

    This is an horrific story. This shows the incapacity and self pride of the Organization, any pastor or elder , priest etc. the first step would have known your mom's problem and direct her to a professional, who really would take care of your mom sickness.

    The watchtower needs to get in trouble regarding human rights violations. I hope you went to authorities anyway. You were just a child. This was a crime. I was abused at 4. I didn't know to do anything except sit still at meetings or I would get spanked.

    I too always felt very ALONE. "Spiritual paradise?" "Spiritual brotherhood?" I NEVER felt it & I too always thought there was something wrong with ME. Plus, I also had a controlling, emotionally neglectful, mentally abusive JW mom. Glad this person is in a much better place, still feel terrible hearing her story I almost wanna track down those 2 piece of 💩 "brothers" & show em some street justice 🤬

    • @Ava2969ny
      @Ava2969ny Před rokem +1

      @JeMz -- yes, I feel the urge to exact some street justice on them too! Hearing this story made me so uncomfortable; difficult story to hear...that human beings who were supposed "taught" to love one another treated her so vilely and poorly, and then tried to blame her for it.

    These situations piss me off. I went through similar. I am the one with mental illness. But the witnesses are damn nosey so I understand what she went through.

    Being a victim of deceit shatters your faith and the next time around, you find it harder to trust. However, you shouldn’t allow lies to change who you are and how you live life.

    I noticed Joanna used the word "shit" in her conversation.(foul) Speech.Maybe the congregation felt it has to be protected and there children because of (foul) speech.Maybe this is why they were stand offish.In any religious setting no one wants,s their children picking up foul speech like "shit? I got offended at you using this term shit.My child of 5y old and automatically said "Mom she just used a not so nice word.And I am not from JW,s.But my son found it offensive.So this is why I sd maybe the congregation was stand offish.You used the word F..k also.Parent,s have to protect their children from such (foul speech you are using in this interview.🤔☝️💯
