If it’s an outdoor tv that has the backlight it’s supposed to, then it’s not $300. They’re around $1k to $2k for a 50” TV that’s for outdoors. That’s not to say they can’t buy a bad tv and put it outside.

Had a dude from geek squad give me a great price advice...was going to buy a high dollar outdoor TV for our covered patio, looked at enclosures, etc. He said outdoor viewing is never about quality of picture or sound so simply buy the cheapest TV you can. If you have to replace it even as frequently as every 24 months, you're still money ahead over the next 10 years due to the high cost of the outdoor tvs.... was in Houston so hot and humid too...

You can put ANY tv outside as long as it's in a cover any, meaning it won't get wet from rain, no need for a case!! Leave it powered on ( especially in the winter) .. they have screensavers!!
