  • Join me for an epic 100 miles of scenic Missouri backroads on the trusty KLR650! This is a route I created via the Gaia app and this is the first test run of it. The route itself is about 70% paved to 30% gravel but feels like a 50/50 split based on time so it is a good mix! There is a variety of well maintained gravel roads, twisty paved roads, low water crossings, historic towns, abandoned bridges, and even Daniel Boones burial spot.
If you decide to try this route and want to cross the river by the abandoned bridge definitely wait until the water is down but I feel it is very possible which would just add to how cool the loop is!

The main purpose of this video was also to test new equipment on the audio side to bring you better quality with each video so please let me know what you think! Do you like me narrating the rides or should I just shut up?

Hey BJ, got a chance to watch this again this morning, all they way through. Nice save on the stop sign, another cool perk of having the KLR! I really love the scenery, the roads there are so cool. I think it was really done well, I may have to look deeper into you set up, sounds way better than mine. Im not sure what speeds you were going, but for the most part you sounded clear and crisp at normal conversation level.

I was really surprised at how clear it was at speed. I have my mic nearly behind the helmet padding but its still open in the bottom which doesn't help wind noise.

More helpful ideas from a new subscriber and Missouri Dual member...
Hang out at the points of interest longer. I could have used a few more minutes of riding around town.
If you can get slow motion shots of the historic buildings/cool homes they would work well with classical music.
If you're willing to ride creek beds then set up a few drivebys on the camera.
Looking forward to seeing more vids!

Well I hear ya there but I just don't have time to set all that up and people complain my videos are too long anyway so thats a tough line to walk. As long as people are engaged a dont click off the video I'm happy

Audio suggestion for you; set the music track to the same level as moderate wind noise. When the wind noise gets loud cut the wind and just play music.
You wouldn't shout at the mic over loud wind noise anyway, so you won't loose much commentary. Maybe come back in with voice-over if you need to.

Noted, thank you. I could have lowered the ride audio while I had the music playing but it just didn't seem unbalance when editing. Watching it on my TV was different as well as how washed out the videos look. Constant battle

If you ever end up in southern rural Missouri and want to go sight seeing pointless things hit me up! I have a terribly slow and fun xr150 😂
