If you were in North Carolina I'd come dig through all that for the clothing, that's literally what I do for a living. Plenty of vintage clothing nerds wouldn't bat an eye digging through that
1st row of 3: Red ribbon on the left with 3 stripes each end is Army good conduct award for 3 years of active service with exemplary behavior on or before 6/28/1941. center is WWII Victory medal the yellow with red, white, and blue stripes is an American Defense Medal for men who were on active service during a national emergency preceding our entry into war and is referred to as a "before Pearl Harbor" medal. 2nd row of 3: on the left, National Service Defense Medal center Korean Service Medal with 2 bronze stars. Each star indicates how many campaigns they performed in. on the right: United Nations Service Ribbon for men who served between 6/27/50 to 7/27/54. The badge with the "US" on it looks like a Signal Branch insignia badge. Check the back to see if it has a torch and 2 crossed flags. These bages denote that the soldier is assigned to a particular area of service and qualified for that service. The blue and parch is upside down in your video. The center white stripe goes from upper right to lower left. It identifies a soldier in the 3rd infantry division class A. The 2 badges at the bottom I can't see clearly but I would guess they belong to the 2 Korean era soldiers. So we have an Army soldier who served in WWII AND because you have 2 UN service medals and 2 Korean Service medals I would say we have 2 different Korean War soldiers, a father in WWII and his 2 sons in Korea? If these were found in my home I would try to figure out who they belonged to and they would be displayed in a shadowbox with the info on the back, and I bet that would dispel some of the weird energy in the house.
My father was 3 I.D. served from mid 1942 to November 1945, 4 Invasions from North Africa to Southern France. When Korea started many 3 ID retreads were called up again before Inchon. The man who received those could have possibly served in 2 wars..
I hope that as you begin to sift through the layers in this room you feel phyically and spiritually lighter. I'm sure the previous occupants would be proud of the progress you're making.
Do it your way, Robert. In your own time and in whatever way honors the past and those who were important to you. Thanks for bringing us along on the journey.
Did anyone else have to fight, just for a millisecond, the urge to physically back up when asked to? Also, plastic totes, or even laundry baskets, are the best thing ever when going through piles of stuff.
I remember when I looked at the front of the farm, and I thought he'll never clear that. It's not 100% cleared but you made major dent. Look what you have done. The addition are off. The new roof is on. The garden is growing. Wisteria is 80% or more gone. The Barn is gone. You put up fences and gates. You fixed the farm road, and fixed the drainage. Don't sell yourself short, you've done a helve job so far. Your also one man, so be happy with what you have done, and don't worry about the ones that question you about time.
It is most likely the room where folks passed away in. Just make sure you speak aloud that your intentions are good and that you have stepped in to save this beautiful home and save it. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, is really besides the point. You and others can feel the energy in the house, that room in particular. Everything was important to someone and respectfulness is the key.
When I was younger...and not strong in my faith.. I lived in a family home that 2 generations of grandparents died in. I always told myself that they were family and that they loved me. That always made me calm...especially on dark stormy nights. 😂
I know how difficult the process is having gone through it with my grandparents and parents. You're forced to re-live the bad and the good, and maybe learn some things you never wanted to know. I can say that you're going to feel amazing when it's all done. Something tells me that when you're done with that one room, progress on everything else will be swift. Git 'er done!

Thank you for inviting all of us to watch as you make these videos.
You see a tomb I see treasures. I about cried when you put the shovel through the old tin. I collect them. So many memories and love was in that room. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Robert for “smells like sorrow, depression, and alcohol” … reminds me of time I went to see a lady with MS who couldn’t leave her bed, just looking around outside, seeing inside it was “this looks like a broken dream” and it was
When I see videos of that house I'm reminded of my grandparents' house in Ocean County, NJ (which was actually nothing like that house). My grandfather and his first wife had bought in 1922 and he built a thriving poultry farm on the property. The chickens were sold out in the late 50s and then my grandfather concentrated on produce only. My grandmother came into the picture in 1938, as grandpop's second wife. They moved out in 1988 and the farm was sold. But the buyer only wanted it for the land. So the house and all the buildings were leveled. It was so sad. The house was in excellent condition inside and out. It was said to have been built in 1900.
This is your house, you decide what to keep and what to give or destroy. The fact that that it has such age and decay is not unusual I love old homes and I appreciate that you are trying to preserve what you can and give away things to people who will respect it. I love the old denim jacket it’s amazing! Please don’t worry about judgement of others what counts is your opinion and what matters to you. I saw the home in the beginning so it’s a transition and will take time, thank you for saving it and trying to do what you can. Be safe!
By the way, you’re doing a remarkable job clearing that overfilled house out. I always get so excited when I see on CZcams there’s something coming from the old bird farm.
The green pottery bowl is called orange grove or orange tree...........orange something. My grandmother had a pair which were given to her as a wedding present in 1930. Good find.
I wish I had seen your comment before I made mine. 😕 I have one I bought at an antique mall. I have the bigger size and have always wondered if it was part of a set. I have mine near the fireplace with scented pine cones in it. I appreciate knowing what the pattern is called, so thanks for the info.
@@TJ-id6ee What I'm describing is a green glazed bowl with a drapey tree motif . The outline of the trees looks a little like Newcombe Pottery, but these were mass produced by somebody. They are a heavy pottery.
Understand how tough it can be--but the real treasure in there is finding the items significant to the family history and getting those back in condition to be appreciated!
“Those rooms” are the toughest ones. I found things I laughed about, things I was surprised about, some I cried about, and even one I was shocked about! Everyone should do things in their own time and way. It’s no one else’s business how you do these things, anyway. I just enjoy seeing the treasures! Like that bed frame-I have one just like it that I kept to remind me of the special lady that once owned it. The creepy Barbie can go though!
Wow what a job you have to do 😮but I really like the old bed but it will all look beautiful before we know it amazing fireplace such a shame it’s in sad shape but one day at a time thank you for sharing this room with us take care and be safe 😊😊
I giggled when you said you don’t believe in ghosts. What about the heavy footsteps that were above you and Dan, while you two were checking under the house, experienced in the creepy two room house? Best unexplained video.
That was this guy?? I saw that video on a paranormal channel (I think I'm talking about the same clip). If so, they both crawled out backward from under that house so fast, like it was an Olympic event. Very creepy!
God bless you people have no idea how long it takes to redo a old historical place. I am in your shoes. I am trying to save one to on a limited budget.
I completely understand how you feel about the need to go through everything and not just shovel it all into a dumpster. I inherited my Mom's house after she passed which she had inherited from her parent's. I had, at least, 3 generation's worth of stuff to go through. Three outbuildings, an attic, three closets, and 5 dressers and chests to go through of clothes, papers, pictures, tools, furniture, kitchenware, memorabilia, and memories. It's hard as hell. Especially when you have to do it all alone. Then, my Dad passed and my step-Mom sent me a box of his stuff,. When my great aunt passed away, she left me all of her pictures, so there was another treasure-trove to go through. You just have to take your time. Don't let anyone push you to hurry, even yourself. It'll take as long as it takes. I wish you well.
Listening to the rain on the tin roof is so relaxing and knowing that it is sound must please you as much as it does those of us who have followed you for a while.
It's amazing how you can almost see the different generations that lived in the house from all the little treasures you find. It would be cute if you could take a piece of that old wall paper and frame it to hang back in that room when it is done. (A clean piece of wall paper if there is any.)
Robert, if I was in your situation and the house was part of my family /history, would be doing exactly carefully going through and not worrying about it being messy , as they are memories, you're learning about your family, they might be personal in some cases and a mystery to you , however they meant something to those family gone , it's deeply personal, having to sort through, much like losing a parent and having to clear there house , I have a lot of respect and love in all you do Robert including finding the lost or forgotten cemeteries, be yourself, I have a deep passion for history past and ones that went before us , especially ancestors, don't change for nobody Robert 😎👍
I'm sure she would be proud of Robert, and happy with everything he's done. I have a feeling that was her room, and I can understand why it's hard for him to go through her things.
Robert you keep going and eventually you are going to have that house cleaned out. Yes some family history is hard to go through. Remembering the ones that have passed on. But I'm sure they wouldn't want their room to be full of stuff. I can't wait to see the finished product. ❤❤
I love your videos Robert, and now my husband watches too. We are retired and get worn out just watching you! Whether you believe it or not, the spirits are guiding you. Don't give up and don't listen to all of the backyard lawyers! You are doing a fine job, one box at a time. I am so glad you are going through the items individually and saving what you can. I would do the same.
I suspect it's a bit overwhelming, but I so respect your decision to take your time sifting through the remnants of previous lives. Years back, poking around at a Great Aunt's home, I found a small brown bottle hidden in her well house. Inside was a receipt for sale of eggs and property with the money (over a hundred dollars) rolled up inside the old pink toilet paper. She didn't drive, so no telling what was hidden where. On a shelf in the only closet, I found my Granddaddy's slate school board.
Well Robert, there's nothing that I can say that hasn't already been said. I know the emotions that surface when I go through family photos. It'll get easier, the more that you're in that room. You'll make it into your room, the way YOU want it. Keep what you want in it, change what you don't. It'll be your room, in your house. Take care.
Robert, rather glad it is raining outside for you to be once more cleaning out a room of your OBF, and honestly see a lot of potencial in this room once it is cleaned out. Would be so neat to save a large or even a 5 x 7 piece of that wallpaper and frame it, to remind you of what was there. Some of the walls, sadly look like they will have to be taken down and sheet rocked. I see things outta the box, as you do Robert, I see what it was and what it could be again, I see, like the vintage clothing, things to be saved and reused, i see a bunch of papers in the corner, that again could be family treasures and memories to keep. I admire and comend you for pretty much all by yourself taking this on and moving forward with this project. Look forward to your next video. BTW I truly understand why that room feels like a tomb.
While clearing up in there, imagine you are Howard Carter excavating King Tuts tomb. What can you see? "Wonderful things." Some of that furniture might be real keepers. Fingers crossed for you. Thanks for sharing.
I gather someone you loved died in that room. I get it. I had to help clean out my grandma's apartment when she died. It wasn't in that condition, but it is just mentally hard to do that, and I'm sorry you are having to do it.
Robert, my dad and his siblings have been cleaning out my grandmother's home. She is 97 and can no longer live by herself. In cleaning out her house they discovered that she had never thrown out hardly any clothes and had so many vintage things that were able to be sold. The nice thing though is they were sold to an organization that does sell the clothes but all of the profits go to help homeless mothers and women. It is possible to have those clothes cleaned and used in that purpose if no one wants them. There are many organizations like this. Regarding ghosts...I lived in a house that was haunted. I didn't believe in it till I was faced with it. I saw it. I was physically pulled from bed. Pictures were moved. It was so bad. Unreal stuff happened. There is good and evil in this world. I moved, btw. Fast as I could! Love your history in your house!
Lol, probably no confederate gold, but maybe some family gold. Pictures, trinkets, a Bible with family notes. Enjoy the process of putting life back into that room and house!
I love watching both your channels OBF AND SS. As someone who keeps family heirlooms and treasures to keep their memories alive, I understand what your going through. Take your time, digest all you find have fun and relive old memories. Most of us understand. The ones who don't they can hold on for the ride or there's the door don't let it hit your backside as you go out it. Thanks for sharing. I relive a little of my past with you. Your doing just fine. ❤🫂 from🇨🇱
I know you get a lot of comments when you clean out the house. I 100% agree with your process. This is your family house, and it holds a lot of memories for you. You do what is best for you.
It’s your house Robert do it your way people always put their two cents in but you do you. I’m sorry for your feelings of this room when we have loved ones and a history to a home it can be very hard I know whoever owned the home would be so proud of the respect love hard work you do to bring it back to life. Well done Robert 🤗💪🙏
I get it and completely understand. Once you begin, you will move along so quickly that you will wonder why you waited so long, I'm one to talk, I HAVE TO WALK THE TALK. Take your time. You crack me up, bandaids for when i cut myself later. 😂
Well Robert, there's really nothing for me to say that hasn't already been said. I know he emotions that surface when I go through family photos. It'll get easier the more you're in that room, the more you make it a room like YOU want it. It'll be your room in your home then. Take care.
I would have to go through everything too. You never know what history you will find or treasures. Plus some of that old stuff like the bed, may be original to the farm and should remain there. Even if it's not original it fits in with the age of the house. Same with some of the old decorations/nick knacks. Oh my gosh Robert, you made my back hurt watching you with that table. That basket looks more like a purse. It's kind of small for a picnic basket I think. It's really pretty. I agree. You can't rush these things if you want it done right. You have done so so much already. It's a huge difference from when you first got it and now. It's getting there.
Remember the good times!! Use the rest as "stepping stones". You are strong! I know it is a difficult process. It's a process I have gone through and still am going through. Your courage and determination have inspired me to keep working on my "projects".
You are doing a great job Robert I think the purging of this room will also be a cleansing of sorts for your mind The feeling of lightness will be mixed with gratitude 😌
Anything worthwhile takes time. And I'm not the type to just scoop up piles of things and throw them away when I see that there are items with saving that tell a story or have a connection, so I get it. 🤗 It's a nice room and it definitely has an energy to it but not bad. A little melancholy maybe. Looking forward to more chapters on this project. 🌞
The "Raggedy Ann" might even more valuable because she is a he. That's a Raggedy Andy lamp. Maybe they are a set, a pair of Raggedy Ann and Andy lamps?
God bless you Mr. Robert. I'm so proud of you for restoring your family's home. I'd give anything to restore my family home. However it is not available to me.
It's not an easy job. and you have to do the work as you see fit. Many people would see "junk" and not really know if they were sitting on something important. Others just want to get it over with quickly. It benefits you to take your time and go through it to see what's important and what's not, especially with family things. It's the historian in you. I really enjoy seeing what turns up. Thank you, Robert, for this peek inside.
I loved Raggedy Ann and Andy when I was little. Take your time and let your heart guide your mind. My dad passed 20 years ago and my family still struggles.
Robert I respect the words u use when talking about the ppls clothes and things in the old Byrd farm.u r doing a great job bringing the old place back to life.u have a big heart full of respect.always keep that inside of u.Thank u for the videos.
Well this video is like a movie that had it all- it made me laugh and it made me cry a bit. It's always an inspiration to watch you tackle this project because you just put your head down and get it done. I struggle with feeling overwhelmed and then paralyzed by big projects like this (still cleaning out boxes plus a house for more than two years now myself.) And I agree with what you said about it being okay to touch things twice (or more). Anything that moves a project forward one step is a win in my book. I think with historically important things (generally or personally) you kind of need that time to see it, touch it, and then sit and think about what it might mean to you and how it needs to be handled. There is nothing worse than the regret of tossing something in a moment of feeling overwhelmed by what to do and later realizing you acted too quickly. I have a couple of things I regret losing that way. Also, you are funny and my goodness you are tactile! Like an idiot, I'm yelling at my TV, "Don't even THINK about putting that in your mouth!" and genuinely not being sure if you are going to do it or not! smh lol
I would be disappointed if you just dumped everything into a dumpster. You’ve already found so much that is important to you. While I get anxious and wish you would hurry it along, I know you’re doing it your way, which is the right way. Besides, when I need some “Robert”, I can go to your other channel and explore Georgia with you.
You talk about Confederate Gold all the time. I wish that just once you could find a real gold bar or something that would really truly be Confederate Gold. This whole adventure is very emotional for all of us, I think.
I know what you mean. It will get easier. We who have enjoyed your videos up till now and know some of your character, understand this house has meaning to you and your family. We don't have the right to judge you or what you do. We're just watching. You cracked me up when you came out with that table.🤣🤣I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself, but that was funny. Oh Lordy!! I agree you need help. Love from Ky.😊
Grab yourself a spot light and a milk crate to sit on. Mask and glove up then slowly go through everything. Love that old metal bed frame. I have my great Aunts metal bed. Nothing is haunted. Thats a raggedy Andy. Ann has a dress! LOL
I feel like this is the beginning of an epic journey! The square patch with diagonal blue stripes is a WWII 3rd infantry division patch in the US Army. I did a little research.
Hi Robert, thanks for taking us along with showing us the starting of rhe clear out of this special room. I get how u r feeling this way about it being hard and feeling like it's a tomb to start the clear out .Many of us have been with you from the start and we understand .Keep your memories close to your heart. Its your place now ,so do it your way and on your terms .Whatever u find in rhe room,I hope your subscribers remember that at one time they were special and were something your gramma or someone else who lived there treasured .❤
I’ve said it before n I’ll say it again. You do what you want to do. I would feel the same way in wanting to go through everything first before it gets in the trash bag. Just that bed alone is a treasure (at least with me). ♥️😊👍👍👍🌟🐾🐾🐾🐾🐈⬛
Watching videos like this encourages me to keep going on decluttering my house. I am in my 40's and recovering from being bed bound with a list of chronic health challenges. I'm still basically house bound and need lots of breaks in between working. Im not likely to die anytime soon but I also don't want to leave a big mess for whoever has to come after me and clean my house out. As the eldest female of my generation I have inherited many heirlooms from extended family including antique furniture and crockery (plates, teacups, serving platters, etc). I love to use them as often as I can. I have a lady who comes to help me for 2 hours a week. She helps with moving stuff around and getting bags or boxes of stuff out of the house to either the rubbish tip or to family, friends or charity. She also helps keep me focussed and gives me ideas of what I can work on while she isn't here to help me. We call it "homework". Having someone else to work with and to bounce ideas off makes it easier to make decisions. So far every time we have worked she has left with stuff to donate or to get rid of. We are about halfway thru the house now. Take the time you need to process the physical and mental/emotional weight of items. Don't rush and then regret it later. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot
Aloha 🌺 Robert! Slow & Steady like the rest of the house! The bed is beautiful! Haven't seen one like that for a long time. I had one like it in Australia. Aloha 🌺🥰
Robert, I really admire your patience with going through this old place. It’s pretty overwhelming to actually dive in and start the tedious process but it will definitely be worth it.

I've been a landlord for years. I hate cleaning out other people's stuff. I don't envy you at all.
I'm sitting here by myself watching this video. The rest of my family is asleep. Robert, you have me laughing so hard about that jar of "sorrows" 😂😂😂
Old Byrd Farm House "SMELLS LIKE SORROW and DEPRESSION with a hint of ALCOHOL" 😂😂😂 WE NEED SHIRTS
😂😂😂
Love the bed and the fire place! I get good vibes from the room. Feels like someone with lots of love. A woman.
Listening to the rain on the tin roof is so relaxing and knowing that it is sound must please you as much as it does those of us who have followed you for a while.
Yogi Bear and BooBoo loved pic-a-nic baskets
I'm glad you showed us all this. Now I feel like I understand the process you're going through in this renovation😊
It's amazing how you can almost see the different generations that lived in the house from all the little treasures you find. It would be cute if you could take a piece of that old wall paper and frame it to hang back in that room when it is done. (A clean piece of wall paper if there is any.)
That's a great idea!
I love that room. Will be beautiful when it's cleaned out & set up again. You're doing so well Robert, enjoy your out look.
I love your heart Robert ❣️
Your diligence and respect in rebuilding the OBF is to be admired and commended. You do you and don’t listen to the naysayers.
I believe that your grandma is looking down at you and saying I knew it would be Robert to step up and take care of my home and things!
I'm sure she would be proud of Robert, and happy with everything he's done. I have a feeling that was her room, and I can understand why it's hard for him to go through her things.
Man! The history of this house. If walls could talk! Love it
I agree with you. You can't just dump it all. You have to go through it.
That patch is from the 34th infantry division my grandpa was military police with that division that used that patch in Korea
Take care.
I hope u kept the blue bowl!!! I wish I could be there to show you what has value. In the past I have watched you throw things away in the kitchen!!!
"Wonderful things."
Some of that furniture might be real keepers.
Oh I love it! Looks like is was a very quaint room with the fireplace and wallpaper!
I would keep that bed.
Well Robert, there's really nothing for me to say that hasn't already been said. I know he emotions that surface when I go through family photos. It'll get easier the more you're in that room, the more you make it a room like YOU want it. It'll be your room in your home then. Take care.
For Pete sakes stop smelling that unknown liquid in the coffee jar. Lol
Good day to be inside. Enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work!
Love your attitude Robert - you just roll with it no matter what
I love history of my family I would also take it slow as to not miss something I would want to keep. Love the old bedframe
Take your time. Treasures are everywhere and they are yours 🌞
You are doing a great job Robert
I think the purging of this room will also be a cleansing of sorts for your mind
The feeling of lightness will be mixed with gratitude
😌
Anything worthwhile takes time. And I'm not the type to just scoop up piles of things and throw them away when I see that there are items with saving that tell a story or have a connection, so I get it. 🤗 It's a nice room and it definitely has an energy to it but not bad. A little melancholy maybe. Looking forward to more chapters on this project. 🌞
Lord I have enjoyed this so very much thank you I love this. God bless you 🙏❤️
Had the exact bed frame that my mom got after my grandmother passed away
♥♥♥ Keep at it, Robert. I understand how it can be a bit sensitive for you to go digging in to rooms like that. Do what you have to do, man.
That wasnt Raggedy Ann that was Andy 😉
Both that basket and the Raggedy Ann are collectible, hang on to those!
The "Raggedy Ann" might even more valuable because she is a he. That's a Raggedy Andy lamp. Maybe they are a set, a pair of Raggedy Ann and Andy lamps?
You are amazing. You keep plugging away but it is coming together!
Robert I get it! God bless you
I get it also. I am in no hurry if you are not.
It looks like your kin folk never threw away anything 😊
I loved Raggedy Ann and Andy when I was little. Take your time and let your heart guide your mind. My dad passed 20 years ago and my family still struggles.
Isn't the doll Robert found Raggedy Andy?
The house probably has a mourning room and it being a back bedroom makes sense to me. That would be creepy. Love the old house though.
Robert I respect the words u use when talking about the ppls clothes and things in the old Byrd farm.u r doing a great job bringing the old place back to life.u have a big heart full of respect.always keep that inside of u.Thank u for the videos.
This is a great video… so many people just toss everything they don’t want to look through. You’re doing a great job and may God bless you.❤❤❤
Well this video is like a movie that had it all- it made me laugh and it made me cry a bit. Like an idiot, I'm yelling at my TV, "Don't even THINK about putting that in your mouth!" and genuinely not being sure if you are going to do it or not! smh lol
That creepy old Barbie doll could be worth hundreds of dollars so have it evaluated Robert!!!
Totally get you Robert and I hope the atmosphere lifts in that room mate yes agree you gave to sort through this mess to save anything saveable
LOL
Good advice! Also you are correct about the Raggedy Andy. Maybe it was a set of lamps, Ann& Andy?
I feel like this is the beginning of an epic journey! The square patch with diagonal blue stripes is a WWII 3rd infantry division patch in the US Army. I did a little research.
I think the US button may be a Civil War Union uniform button. Robert needs to send Brandon Glass a picture of it and see what he thinks.
Confronting history can be challenging.it can invoke positive and negative feelings.but if it comes from a honest place in you. It still matters
The mantelpiece is beautiful and the jug on the left side of the mantelpiece is part of a wash set. It should have a basin that matches.
You are amazing! I like Your mining about all old thinks, about the history. Greetings from Poland.
It looks like there are neat pieces in the room
