UPDATE: Since 14.1b, trailblazer is noticeably weaker and wouldn't rush it as much anymore. This pushes locket higher in prio, especially for champs who don't like Zekes. I also went a bit too hard on Celestial Opposition, that item feels like a solid option on certain champs (Thresh, Renata, Rakan, some engagers) and vs. burst too. Probably deserves decent over bait tier. I use splashable to mean the opposite of situational. Will monitor the meta and update this pinned message accordingly!
Can you explain why Celstial Opposition is good on Renata I can't get my head around it! I've been building sleigh in her is that a good option too?
@@samuelwhitby9457 In my experience it's mostly because Renata wants to be positioned a bit more aggressively than other enchanters. A lot of her "enchanting" power comes from her passive doing a lot of damage, so the more basic attacks you can land the better, and being a bit more durable enables that.
Her self-peel and survivability is also generally a bit more limited than most other enchanters and stuff like CO/Zhon/etc. can give a bit of that needed buffer.

You didn't touch on Kaenic Rookern at all which feels incredibly broken atm. While a bit expensive for supports (2900g) it's 80 MR, 400 HP and usually ~500 HP magic shield with a 12 second refresh. Combo'd with a cheap Frozen Heart for missing stats (armour, haste, mana) you feel unkillable at 2 items. You also skipped over the new imperial mandate in your item rundown. Imo the biggest difference is now that it deals %hp damage it makes for a much better 3rd/4th pickup than before, as the damage will scale much better into the game. There's a lot of champions that don't necessarily want to rush mandate, but grabbing it 3rd/4th on champions like Alistar once you've picked up some tank stats feels really nice for bursting targets on your engages and using the movespeed to reposition. Also, for Blitzcrank you recommended Solstice Sleigh, but I think Bloodsong is far superior on the champion. You apply the sheen effect easily with his E, and applying a 12% damage amp to whoever you hook into your team is very good.
EDIT: Another thing I forgot you didn't cover, Dawncore is an Ornn upgrade item, and the upgraded version gives 225% mana regen by itself, proccing it's passive 3x by itself when combined with the 75% from the support item. This means at one item it gives 75 AP, 30 Haste and 9% Heal and Shield Power for only 2700g. Ofc you wouldn't build it first, so this would only be higher as a 2nd or third item. Therefore I can see Dawncore being much higher priority in games where you have an Ornn.

I dig the shield variant on Rakan and Thresh as they aren’t as tanking as some of the other engage supports
17:19 Might still be a bait as a 5th or 6th item depending on how much AP it gives you from the passige. I advise checking your stats in pratice mode to see the final results kf dawn core.

I wanted to have your opinion on Winter's Approach.
Its price got reduced to 2400 golds and it gives a lot of Health and 15 AH.
The only pain point about this item is tear stacking.
However, it feels really good on Thresh and Tahm !
As a new player I had no idea what new items to build so this guide is a life saver. Thanks for always making great guides, I would be even worse at the game without them.

Staff of flowing water is pretty much like giving 1400g worth of stat to player you heal or shield and your self, which extremely strong that base stat of staff of flowing water already pretty far above 100% gold efficiency.
Chemtech Putrifier was been removed so it makes anti-heal a bit more complicated. I also think that some honorable tank support items are Kaenic Rookern for the INSANE shielding and MR stats, and Hollow Radiance (though this one is much more situational). Anathema’s is also an insane item for the cost and works really well into team comps that mainly output one kind of damage. I am able to solo carry games as a tank with this item, and have had it negate upwards of ~7000 damage.
pyke with celestial opposition and edge of night. it makes him actually unkillable and teams need to coordinate on how to punish you and you're just able to walk wherever you want

I was glad that you made that annotation about Bloodsong. The 150% AD Sheen Proc has some very degenerate interactions with a certain group of Champions (see: Senna), allowing them to deal more damage than the other Support Evolutions, in sheer quantity. Leona and Alistar are likely the greatest abusers of it, literally being able to ensure their sources of damage, like an Evenshroud.
I have a question: as an ADC, is it better to build around the Support's sources of pressure (Support Evolution), or should I play my own game, instead?

Senna and Bard are best abusers I would say! I'm not sure what building around support evolution would look like, and how that would influence your decisions. Support evolution only happens after laning phase anyway so I'd just stick to your own game and rely as little as possible on others.

Ardent was placed in decent, I would put mandate there too. Situational and strong in their situations
Trailblazer is such a fun item on Bard. Basically what I wanted out of DP but better for him, often my first item with Bard
Thanks for the video, helps a lot! I love to play Janna, she feels really good right now and she is very flexible when it comes to build paths. So far I mainly build moonstone on her as 1st item. I had one locket game because we played against a Karthus and I also tried Shurelyas in a movement speed build.
Would you always prefer Moonstone on her or in which situations is Shurelyas the better option? I don’t like the HoB runes but do you think Bloodsong is viable on her just because it’s such a good item right now or is Solstice and Dream Maker just so much better on her?
Shurelya's would be better in faster paced games, where you're not getting multiple shields off in skirmishes but trying to get in / out of position. I haven't tried bloodsong, but if you want a roaming Janna I would consider bloodsong + glacial + relentless hunter, although bloodsong is getting nerfed soon so maybe not for long.
Otherwise you're probably still choosing between making your runes/items as much about scaling + grouping, or roaming, as possible!

At 30:02 you mention Font of Life to proc Helia. About midway through last season that interaction was removed due to champions like Singed building it and Rylai's. Was that change reverted?
I hope it was... I really enjoyed Grail (and Helia for the short time it existed before being patched) working with FoL, it enabled so many more support champs to be able to get value from it.
For Pyke celestial support item with umbral and edge of night feels amazing in games you can get oneshot really easily. You basically get 2 get out of jail free cards every time you go in
edit: not the strongest build for carrying obviously, more of something you build if you blindpick pyke and get countered
Agreed. Bloodsong for snowball, Celestial for survivability.
hi there i have a quick question im a big enjoyer of active items like shurelya, locket and randuins i almost go for them every game as a main rakan thresh and bard player i feel like i have way ore impact with shureyla and randuins than with just stat blocks is it fine to play with them or is it worse to go a building path like this? sorry for my spelling and typos im not an nativ english speaker.

By the way, since I've been toying with the occasional Ashe Support, what are your thoughts on Malignance on her?
Usually I'd build Umbral Glaive => Axiom Arc on her, but her R seems to synergize really well with the burning ground passive of the item

The better build would be HoB with lethality + maybe mandate, but you can try a more AP oriented build with comet and malignance it's not horrible!
Sitting on Verdant Barrier can be a situational item too. 1800 gold for a spell shield every 1 minute. Good Ap and MR. Not ideal stats but can be useful.
Have you tried Echoes of Helia on Milio? The item builds stacks whenever an Ally triggers his passive so you can proc it quite often
I have not, I'm not sure if nowadays is the best time to be trying to abuse that item but if it does work that's pretty cool!

I think Zilean is quite tricky to build now. Having no health on shurelyas leaves you super squishy and you can’t really use the extra ap that efficently in the mid game

that's fair, I think umbral is a first or never item and I still think it's strong on those champs. I can see youmuus rush though

In decent: strong when a champion can proc it easily but no health and limited champs abusing it makes it fall short of Powerul tier IMO.
Lathyrus said trailblazer is a bait on bard. Any thoughts on this? been having success with frozen heart rush since its so cheap, but I noticed everyone is building trail
it got nerfed in the 14.1-b hotfix patch too. almost immediately, since all engage/playmaker supps were buying and succeeding with it.
I think that it's a bad item but tank support itemization kinda sucks so it's thr only real choice
is a bait, is obvious, if someone says bard needs it or its good on bard, is because that person is not really good on bard. Literally bard kit already has all the passives of that item; you dont need it

Since soloQ is infested with carry players all over, I build Luden's into Stormsurge pretty much every game on Lux, but I would be interested in buying Malignance/Liandry's into Cryptbloom in games with more tanks
Malignance is strong on Swain - and Teemo^^. I think, on a lot of APs it is the best mana item.

I agree, there aren't many great options. It'll either be triumph + legend tenacity, or some movespeed from sorcery. All secondaries are bad on him atm really

Yeah I realized I made that mistake again oops, it was changed a while ago. Probably not worth considering then unless we're going sleigh, but bloodsong is too strong on Bard.
@@CoachCupcake yeah i actually had to look myself because i'd just love a good stat stick with synergies. However after the nerfs to trailblazer i actually consider a moonstone rush for being an excellent stat stick itself and to help out with extra power to the shrines in mid or bot lane into a redemption or locket second for the boost to the AoE effect.

37:00 another disagree with the nautilus part ... trailblazer is so good, go into a practice tool and then look up nauti, he has 325 base ms the lowest in the fking game i hate riot for that... and trailblazer helps getting in range for R or Q picks and look the MS you are leaving behind, its rly op with blitzcrank W you give like 70-90 MS to allies which is like giga ghosted.. on nauti it will be lower but it still helps getting in range for picks, you are right tho that frozen heart knight vow is better if you stay your ground but trailblazer should be more than fine on him because vs good players you will never get a chance to engange if they arent 3 melees... its giga hard vs some comps

What about Horizon Focus on long range mage supports like Xerath or Vel'Koz? Seems pretty affordable and it has some extra utility with the AoE reveals.
Yeah sounds like a great option for Xerath/Velkoz at 3rd item if we don't need magic pen.
So what would your full build look like on Renata in this new season?
Celestial/sleigh/bubble, lucidity, maybe locket, redemption, situationals. Would've been worth mentioning mandate, she struggles with getting value out of a lot of items but this might be splashable enough.
Thanks, I have been having a hard time figuring out what to build as a third item locket plus redemption have felt good so far and adding madate has felt good as well. Having the tank stats to live to get 2 W and cast you ult in a fight has been great. Your build advice in this video helped me to start ingnoring the stat websites that said go full enchanter.@@CoachCupcake

7:24 supp main here, big disagree with ludens even tho i didnt play lux, xerath, zyra or the other ap bursters down there yet, but if you do the math, how is mandate not the better choice? for the first item you bring up that we are lacking HP and for luden its not relevant? like .. i know you get burst and everything but isnt mandate better in teamfight with a double zyra root or lux E and you hit multiple people and multi proc mandate?
Mandate does no damage by yourself. You need to be able to do damage alone IMO. A lot of making progress with mages is sitting in a bush and bursting, not just 5v5 teamfight.

ADCs can abuse bloodsong and share farm with supports, just need to understand how to do so. Maybe we can see some toplaners who avoid laning and perma roam like Janna again, we'll have to see!
What about Iceborne Gauntlet? I thought it might be a valid support item for heavy engage support, no critic just trynna understand why it didnt make the list
Champs that would make use of iceborn well would be building bloodsong, and their passives don't stack.

Crazy to me that you dont run opposition on ali for team fights it's fuckin nuts and ive had insane success with how tanky you become
Pyke main here. Havent played too much of pyke because he feels kinda weaker compared to alternatives and to last season. You havent mentioned gb rush, feels good in a snowbally games, umbral is 1st or never and it became much worse because it's 300g more for just 2 leth, thats why gb 1st statistically is better. Edge of night poorly mentioned, it's like probably 2nd/3rd item and its way better than opportunity. Opportunity feels like a bait item, it mostly worse than ghostblade. Bloodsong also weird, it's good in snowballing games but isnt good if you dont stomp your lane, celestial opposition feels baity but you dont have better alternatives, sleigh feels strange as pyke, havent played much with it. Frozen heart not mentioned here but pyke can utilyze it if you need extra armor. Cyclosword is a bait item. It kinda have good stat profile but it's active isnt good, it mostly useful as 1st item and even then it's kinda bad. Hubris is great in stomping lanes but other than that it's a bait item. Axiom arc is much better now because a lot of items lost ah, probably decent 3rd/4th item.

Quest items are the strongest items in the entire game. It's not close. Broken role in s14; I predict that the only thing stopping the top50 from being Support-dominated will be that the enemy team gets to have them, too.

Stormsurge is still rly overtuned tbh, if u play a mage that can use it i think its BiS atm across the board. The passive procc is rly easy to get off and for what it does its kinda insane, I think we will se similar patches to static shiv with nerf after nerf. I saw a 0/6 annie supp with Stormsurge + t2 boots kill a 2 levels up fed draven solo from full health with 1 RQW combo. That should never be possible.
i think you should've added more tiers... i agree with most of the list but judging by how you do it everything is decent lol, wtf ... which is untrue in the game imo

I haven't tried it yet and since 14.1b nerf I'm not sure I will. I can see that he could get some good value from it though. But I'm rushing zekes on Rakan

There's almost no way to reliably land autos that often. that's on top of the fact her playpattern has relatively high cooldowns, even if you could get in the autos you wouldn't have enough abilities for enough uptime
@@oxey_ Well her E cooldown is lower than Senna Q. The base ad % isn't very useful but thought it goes well with her passive and shield bash. Haven't tried it though, maybe other options are better + depends on matchup. What item do you think is the best for her?
There are several high elo Renata players in my SoS community and they didn't like bloodsong. I think she's a bit immobile to abuse it, and would probably prefer celestial/dream maker/sleigh. S14 items were not friendly to Renata unfortunately.
