- Check out the unique and sturdy flooring I put in the RV stairwell. It's a renovation using brown paper bags.

I did this technique years ago in my teenagers room. I added a small amount of water to the glue and used cheap foam brushes to paint the glue on the floor in small sections. Then I laid the torn paper on top and coated the edges with more glue to seal them flat. I used shoe polish to paint the brown color on the dried paper then sealed it with polyurethane. I came out with a similar result and it was surprisingly durable. Butcher paper also works in the place of paper bags. Ah !! memories.
RV Granny Awesome!
If you mix sand in your final coat it will make it non skid but it will dull the reflection of it somewhat
PNW Granny your paperbag flooring, - how many years has it been down now, and what does it look like now. If it has gone down hill, how many good years did you get? cathy
I did it in my teenage daughter's bedroom so it didn't get a lot of wear, but it lasted at least until she left home. I no longer live in that house so I don't know if it is still there, but it was pretty sturdy. BTW my teen is now a grandmother so it was quite a while ago.
Pippi Peterson you should have your own show on TV, you are a very likable person,i wish you all the best and may your work be rewarded, keep it up
+James sitati Thank you so much James. Apparently I need a higher following to be considered. ;)
I love how enthusiastic you got about each step of the project. Almost childlike and completely adorable.
+Rob Baker Haha, lot of fun things to do in life ;)
I love it. I'll bet both of your parents are excellent do it yourselfers. Also, if you ever get married whoever is lucky enough to be your spouse will have a treasure.
I just love how enthusiastic you are about all your planned jobs. It's really nice that you explain the good and the bad of a particular job. Thanks so much for sharing.
You bet, thanks for tuning in! :)
I love the fact that you are fearless when trying new things for renovation projects. You did a great job. I've been working with paper-skin, for over 30 years and it's incredible the things you can make and sculpt with it. If you want to re-do a table to look like leather, soak your paper bags for a few minutes in hot water, wring out the paper and hang it to dry. Then tear the dried paper into different size pieces and dip each piece into a glue and water mixture, 1/2 and 1/2 or less water, (whatever is your preference) then smooth onto the table surface etc. You don't have to stain it if you don't want to, but you can. Many coats of poly varathane or your favourite sealer.
Interesting, thanks for sharing!
I have a 93 bounder and it seems that most everything you've covered in your videos are issues I have had or am having and the timing is amazing :) Thank you for all of your help and ideas ,,,
Arkle Egner Good luck with those issues :)
Again I say......young lady you are a true inspiration of self reliance and ingenuity! Beautiful work!
TheFreebyrdie Thank you :D

Michael Turnage Thank you :)
You are so enjoyable to watch. I love your energy.
More & more beautiful every video..
If only the new millennial generation could have just half the character and wholesomeness of this beautiful young lady, this nation would be restored to its former greatness and decency. The young man who is blessed enough to win the heart of this treasure as a mate, will have hit heavens jackpot. God bless her.
Amazing what a few simple ingredients, a little work, and a dash of inspiration can turn into. Way to go!
Happy Trails

By God girl I love your attitude, and personality. A breath of fresh air on you tube.
Traveller Thank you :D
I remember an article in a decorating magazine in the 1980's where this was done. I've also seen it used on walls. They used larger pieces and wadded them up, then flattened them for added texture. It looked like leather.
Katrina Workman Oh awesome! I like the idea of wrinkling them up!
Great video. I like how your willing to say what you would have done different, we all have those thoughts. Cool dog too.
+Everything Real Thanks

+Paul Walker Thank you Paul
Another awesome DIY project. Interested to see how it wears, please update us. If the base of the stairs wears poorly, you could always use broken tiles as a mosaic with grout. The back face of the stairs would look awesome with the mixed media of the mosaic on the horizontal portion. Cheers to another great video.
Deb M-G If it wears poorly I can always just put something else over top but I hope not to have to. I can always hopefully reapply more polyurethane. Thanks!
That looked like fun. Now you have me wondering what you will come up with next! Good job and another great vid. Thanks.
darfirst Thanks you! :D

Very cool idea. Good job.
***** Thanks :)
I thought it was going to look ugly, but it really came out looking beautiful, I love the finished look!
Tomas Ortiz Jr. Thanks, I was a little apprehensive though I love it to this day!
Very beautiful.
I love your creative spirit. If you ever want a smoother surface simply sand the polyurethane surface with sandpaper and a wood block. Then add another coat of polyurethane. Always sand between coats of paint or polyurethane.
Maybe a multi purpose flooring glue and spreading it on the floor first with a trowel, then you have only to press paper into glue. multi purpose has a nice open air time to be able to work with.
very nice work,, always love to see you stoked!!!
Cool idea! If people don't want the look of the anti-slip strips, they can also mix sand into the polyurethane and then put another coat on the treads.
+Steve Beswick I was thinking that while I watched this. And if you used the same liquid glass type finish as she used on the kitchen counter top with a little sand on top it would wear well too. Just need to let the the liquid glass cure a little before adding sand.
OMG it came out so awesome. You are really creative and talented. When I started the video and I was curious. I had an idea of what you were doing but, I didn't think it would come out that nice.
+charles sim I felt the same way, :P
+charles sim I would have completely botched it all up.
Pippi that is pretty awesome, who would have thought. Its looks liked burled Walnut to me
Thanks :)
Pippi ROCKS!

WhyWeRV Awesome, thank you :)
I bet wallpaper paste would be good brush on adhesive. Looks great.
