Weird, I loved playing Baldurs Gate 3 but couldn't watch the vods, while I've never played HotS but have loved watching Pally play it since it launched. 🤷♂️
I just find watching stuff like BG3, DOS2 ect really unfun to watch playthroughs of. i always want to watch his group sessions of them but can never get into them. i wish i could figure out why those vids don't click for me since i normally like most his content but something about him CRPG's just feels off.
@@bloomleaf8310 Probably a mix of the heavily personalized choice-driven narrative experience and less chaotic experience of the structured turn-based RPG style. Pally thrives in reacting to the happy little accidents and goofiness that other players bring for multiplayer games like HotS, and he also grooves very well with pure chaos like Crab Champions showed. He's got that genuinely positive, humorous outlook on any crazy stuff that happens in real-time.
Games like BG3 are much more curated and slow by design, so there's less stuff for Pally to have to react to on the fly. The mechanics for those are literally "wait your turn to respond," after all!
I think he's a great comentator/narrator, he makes HotS Fun Just by talking, and i think It is because he's passionate about the game
I find that problem with pretty much any narrative heavy game that I want to play. In general, I think that I don't vibe with watching anyone's vidoes on those kind of games as much
never really liked watching games that is reliant on choices would rather do it myself same with mass effect and so on tho I love pally and i love bg3 but I dunno why games with heavy stories and choices just isn't the same when watching.
At 11:25 Pally is confusing Advancing Strikes with Critical Strikes. Advancing strikes is the passive aspect of Samuro's trait that gives him and his mirror images 25% increased movement speed for 2 seconds after they auto-attack a hero. So the 35 armor (and later on, the stacking basic attack speed increase) is gained for auto attacking heroes, not landing the W ability's critical strikes.
On a different note, I hope things go well with your grandmother, Walter. I'm sure we all appreciate the extra videos before you take off but please remember that your health and that of your family should always come before your CZcams community. When the deep dives are done, how about inviting Shack, Tim and Holy and do some faction teams?
Something like playing teams only with Horde heroes, same for Alliance, Terrans, Zergs, etc. Keeping scores between them and talking on whether they feel complete or if they lack a particular type of hero (or character).
Not sure how hard would be to do that, but it would be a great opportunity for jokes about lore and early development :)
Idk about its winrates, but the talent synergy is there for a Image/Clone focused build. It's really strong vs. a Garrosh, for example, or other single-target damage/cc heroes. Edit - also good vs spell damage, I think?

Samuro has slowly climbed my personnal ladder untill it's in my top 3 chars! What a fun char, elusive, complex, deadly. Little secret with Kawarimi : enter stealth while running in a direction, the image created will KEEP running in that same direction while you can run the other way. Such a nice escape trick. Be strong Pally, loving the content !

also found that really slippery characters like samuro and tracer people get more and more frustrated if you get away with really risky plays so they start hunting you down or use all their abillies way faster in hope you just die which samuro really can take advantage of.

Yeah man, the very first time I picked him up and was learning him after watching some videos ie I knew the concept well before hand, I had like an 86% win rate through 300 games played.
@@moarblood5120 I remember how ridiculously broken he was on release... and how easy he was to counter with Tracer with tracer rounds and her kiting not letting him get his movement speed.
It's a hero you need to be able to play. Not just anyone can pick up Samuro and kill stuff. People hating on Samuro always ignore his flaws and what a player needs to do to be a good Samuro.

For as long as I can remember the teleport on e at 13 was basically the only pick. How long has he had the talent you took? Having an extra clone seems so good in so many circumstances.

The only change they did to him for a while was make it so that you can't teleport to your clones from base anymore with Shift+D. They already despawned when you did that but didn't like him instantly getting health and back to lane, which was pretty OP, so I think they tweaked it that it debuffers specifically trying to use his trait in the home base or at least how I think they recoded it so that it works differently.

But it does have a high skill floor, so I guess I can understand why you're not showcasing it :-(
Samuros lvl 1 talent is so good that even though it was recently merged from 5 to 4% HP Regen it's still that good.
The HP regen is already part of Wind Walk. The Lvl 1 talent provides an instant, upfront heal of 4% upon casting Wind Walk, as well as additional Movement Speed upon entering or exiting Wind Walk's stealth effect.
Wouldn't have guessed Samuro, but then I remembered Samuro was one of those heroes Pally wanted to get good at once upon a time.
Does this mean we might see Lunara or Rexxar soon? 👀

There is actually more to deep dive with Samuro. The merciless strikes makes it so that most debuffs even slows make your hits do critical hit. So you need a teammate who can debuff the opponents constantly and it will crush. Jaina is one candidate but the most consistent way to do this is Abathur with those slowing spikes. It makes 100% of your hits crit and it slaps. Try it, you will love it. Be prepared to wipe the floor with the enemy team after lvl 16.
Another tip is that, most people take Shukuchi while to me Kawarimi is obviously the better choice.
Sure the teleport is useful for plenty of things but Kawarimi gives you extra body that you can use for constant poking and scouting. Shukuchi is usually used for chasing and escaping but Kawarimi can do both as well. It gives you more options for swap targets and you can send the Kawarimi towards direction you want. For chasing to get extra hit you can use Mirror Images to gain a bit more space. So there are ways to work around missing Shukuchi and you wont be missing much after you get used to it. The trade off is huge.
If you take the cooldown reduction at lvl 20 you can have unlimited amount of clones thrown at your enemies all the time when you time your abilities well. Just keep watching how the enemy reacts to your clones, eventually they will tire out killing them and that is when you swap places with the clone. Or maybe they keep killing them and you slow them down constantly at every turn, this depends on enemy personalities a lot.
You can disable abathur mines and junk rat traps with it. It is incredibly versatile. Many talents improve your clones so more of them the merrier. Shukuchi is only improved by the cooldown reduction.
Seriously. Kawarimi > Shukuchi 100%.

I'm a bit torn on Deflection you picked. In use it feels like you are more squishy with it and I think its because its "Physical Armor" and not "Armor" which probably means that it only removes auto attack damage. I usually pick one with the wind because then I know when I can activate tankiness against anything if I got the cooldown. Then again your images get the physical armor as well which probably makes them more annoying overall, so I'm not sure about that level pick. The mirror image one doesn't make much sense to me since you usually avoid most damage anyway when you activate it.
The auto attack speed buff press the attack is nice but rarely you get to veil into enemies so much. Harsh Winds allows you to make hit and run tactics by striking the weaklings and you can chase using bladestorm, increasing the damage of the blade storm as well, the damage increase is noticeable.
And of course Merciless attacks if you got appropriate teammates you play with. All great options for different situations so that talent level has some serious variety.

samuro is one of my main characters but i prefer the mirror image build just because you can reallllllyyyy mess with people and be nearly unkillable.
While it's usually okay to let the first objective go. I generally don't agree with that on this map, as the objective can damage so many structures at high distances. It's kind of like letting the objective go, and the enemy team gets a full Zerg wave, with no resistance from the team.
Watching a good Samuro play is the best/worst thing. Annoying as all get out to play against. Beautiful to watch when playing alongside. Great game.
