    There are a lot of moving pieces on your motorcycle. To keep them moving properly, it’s important to ensure that they are correctly lubricated to handle the pivots, slides, and rolls that go along with their day-in and day-out performance.

    I mostly like to make sure the rider is fully lubed up and prepared for the intense experience ahead.

      GASLIGHT it’s also a safety feature if you’re not wearing gear. The body lubrication allows protection against asphalt during the event of a slide. If it’s raining, allow extra lubrication to compensate for the wet weather. Hope this helps!

    I lubed the throttle a tiny bit and should have done so a long time ago. Way more responsive and very quick to snap back now.

    Yeah it's quite easy to spot what should be lubricated (moving part), it would be useful to tell what kind of lubes will work (more than "lube your cable with some...cable lube") and which should be avoided for this purpose.

  • @michaelmaxwell568

    Modern cables are Teflon coated and don’t benefit from sliding oil down into them. Just makes a mess. Bikes made in the last 20 years have sealed bearings on the wheels and the swing arm. You’re not going to “grease” swing arm bearings frequently unless you’re willing to pull the bearing out and replace it with a new one. If you’re maintaining a 1975 CB something or other, by all means follow this video.

    In my experience, one of the most overlooked lubrication points is the steering stem bearings. Also, most manufacturers use grease sparingly when assembling so it doesn't hurt to go over and lubricate everything if you're on a new bike.

    • @ToAstYNaChO
      @ToAstYNaChO Před 6 lety +3

      Not even close. Cars still need oil changes, trans flushes, diff oil changes. CV joint, sway bar link, tie rod and ball joints all need to be greased regularly. There's so much more maintenance on a car that needs to be done, not many do it.
