I have my truthear novas now (first iem) and I really like them with the foam tips. The audio quality is honestly insane for the price. I definitely understand the problems with IEMs though, they lack the soundstage and impact that headphones have. They are more comfortable and portable than headphones though. I don't like having to charge wireless and fiddle with the case when im done using them. The sound quality on wireless is noticeably worse as well.

the reverberation thing might be because you're recording next to a wall. as for you needing to be close for high SNR, i guess thats one of the negatives of high sensitivity microphones as it also picks up noise around you, but higher sensitivity is technically higher fidelity - thats just the price you pay for high fidelity sound. also do keep in mind that the "noise" in this case is your room noise such as air conditioners and the likes, you should be able to treat it.

btw congrats for getting an omni mic man. it is definitely more realistic even when compared to something like the NT1, both EQed to flat, because it does not cut off any angles, the polar pattern is pretty much a giant bubble which is why when listening to an omni recording with neutral sounding transducers it sounds like ur essentially placed inside the recording room at the mic's position. i truly believe for true high fidelity recording you need an omni mic
the thing is that I need to be close to the mic otherwise the SNR is too poor and the recording becomes to reverberant
