    My first nail gun was an old Senco 1989 version. It was a good old gun but is heavy in relation to the new guns. I have gone through two Porter Cable guns since the Senco, but this gun looks impressive. Thanks for the video. Al from Maryland, Remodeling Contractor of 35 years.

    I think the problem with clipped head nails is that building codes in some areas don’t allow them.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder

    • @1988sureshot
      @1988sureshot Před 3 lety

      Florida doesnt allow clipped head for intance only full head. Winds too high they say wont hold up. I dont shoot em either way you are losing half of your hold on every nail on every piece of lumber. Only reason they are a thing is so they have higher capacity rungs. Load up your apron or make more trips. Dont sacrifice quality for speed.

    I picked this gun up last week and I like it. FYI I didn't see anyone else post this; I found there's a little orange adjuster by the tip that limits the depth of the nail. I can run this gun at 20psi and it'll drive nails in proper all day with it adjusted down. If I run at 80-90psi adjusted like that it'll bury the head about 1/2" in a 2x4. I don't know if that's bad for the tool to run that low psi though, I didn't see anything in the manual about it. It sure works though.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 5 lety

      Very interesting. Mine seems to need more psi to get it to drive a nail flush. 90psi is probably a decent amount for me.

    I have been interested in this nailer for a while now. I have always used Hitachi 3 1/4" nailer do to its speed and durability. I'm a framer and the go to gun for framing is Hitachi... do you recommend this gun for actual framing? I mean back to back firing every day?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 4 lety +1

      I've used a Senco framing nailer before this Ridgid one. The Ridgid is much lighter and has a few more features that I like better. It requires a little more psi to run it, but it's a great choice for daily use, in my opinion

  • @mcethos8678

    ? Why does it leave a few nails in the gun before it jambs. I have the same problem.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 9 měsíci

      If I understand your question correctly, it's a dry-fire lockout which is a common feature to help prevent damage to your nailer. I suppose over time, the firing/driving pin could get warped if it didn't have that.

    What size compressor do you recommend?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 5 lety

      That's a great question... I believe the range of the nail gun is 70psi-120psi. I'm hearing that most people run closer to 120psi for 3-1/2" nails. The minimum size I'd say is the 6 gallon Ridgid pancake compressor.

    • @interman7715

    i dropped my 24 year old mail gun today and bent the sleeve that holds the nails and went and looked at a few new ones today. and this ridged is one i looked at hard. then a friend called me and told me his old gun died and i can have the slid off his. so going to try and keep it another 24 years. but i don't do it for a living that's why its lasted so long and i oil the hell out of it everyday when i do use it. but when this one does die i will look at these again.
