    The last one-ball to keep it going took balls man. That was a masterful performance alright. I never heard of this guy before but I won't forget that name now. Well played! Nice to be able to see it. Even if the quality wasn't the greatest. But I guess that's because we're used to everything in HD now. Also - I completely agree with the commentators on alternate break. It's ruined the game. There's just something special about stringing break-and-runs like this that's so exciting. You just don't get that level of suspense building up with alternate break. =) I liked the comment about it being like the "everyone's a winner" idea. Hah! So true.

    only thing i can say is amazing ,,,,,,,, but i do wanna ask more of the old timers a question and something i struggle with ........... as far as modern equipment cloth and rails especially it seems to take far less pool stroke to go twice as far which seems to require a softer smoother easier stroke in general on the simonis cloth or other fast tables . i cant slow my stroke down without decellerating or punching the cueball and in the end i get so much cueball squirt that i miss way more balls than i care to admit ,,,,,,,, if i am playing 10 ball i may run 2 or 3 racks then miss 2 or 3 of the easiest shots from the cue ball wandering or over spinning from a long pool stroke from my young days . any help or drills would be appreciated

    • @simplyMarko
      @simplyMarko Před 5 lety +1

      riff724 riff724 good players adjust to equipment, great players adjust faster. Work on stroke drills and lagging the cue ball across the table, table and a half, and two times across the table until you can do it consistently. Shoot stop shots from different distances until you can control the slide of the cue ball and maintain accuracy. Those are the building blocks that every other shot is built upon. Good luck!

    • @diathekedriven
      @diathekedriven Před 5 lety +1

      I used to think this way as well. Until I started playing more and got much better and got familiar with much better talent. The odds of them missing those kinds of shots are so infinitesimally small that giving it to them is exactly the same as them shooting it. These guys are really that good and those shots are really that easy. It's like playing the lottery. Yeah, there's a chance you could win, but it's such a tiny possibility that you might as well not waste your time.
      And, like you say, if they get good shape on it, they'll give it to them. If they get tough on the 10 however, they'll make them shoot.

    • @whitelfner4582
      @whitelfner4582 Před 5 lety

      In some cases you don't want to allow players to get into a rhythm. When gambling it was common to give people 2-3 ball outs when they were sitting in the pockets just to keep the money running. Also if you are running ahead, it's a nice gesture and makes the other player think you respect their game, when you aren't allowing them to get into rhythm and keeping the money turning over.

    • @JeffKernsTheArtist

    He didn't run 72. In eight games he pocketed 17 on the break and Alex gave him the last ball each rack. So he really only made 55 shots in a row. Still extremely impressive being the game is Ten Ball. also, making it "loser breaks" would make it more of a chess match and not so one sided.

I'm sure someone will say that's a bad business model yada yada etc. but the truth is almost nobody will pay for pool streams, and nothing the streamers ever do is good enough. Even if it's free and high-def, someone will complain about something. I'm just glad they at least shared this on YT rather that hiding it in their PPV.

  • @someguywhocanfly

    Amazing pool, but the commentary about winner vs alternate breaks is stupid. That 5-0 scenario is much more hard fought and deserved if you're playing alternate, since you've won 2 or 3 of your opponent's breaks. So it makes sense that it would be harder to come back as well, you're only 5-0 because you've made mistakes.
    While watching an 8-rack like this is fun for the novelty, if every match panned out like this it would be boring as hell. Actual good, exciting matches are close, and you get that way more often with alternate, because it actually allows both players equal chances, and you have to "break serve" to get ahead, rather than just win one single lag.

    • @linnainh
      @linnainh Před 6 lety +1

      someguywhocanfly Agreed. It’s always the same for both, if the other guy can get 5-0 ahead in either format then the opponent can do it too. The difference is just that in winner breaks, it is easier to get to a flow state.
      How about if in this 8-0 situation, Alex would be given a chance to try to run 8 and catch up?

    • @someguywhocanfly
      @someguywhocanfly Před 6 lety +2

      I think the benefits of each just come down to the experience of playing it. If no-one had ever played winner breaks they'd probably hate the idea, but some people grow up with that and some grow up with alternate.
      Yeah, that idea is nice. I play alternate (UK pool tho) and apparently in some leagues if you dish (run a rack), your opponent gets a chance to counter-dish, and that can keep going until someone fails to get one. Supposedly it's gone up to 4 consecutive dishes in 8 ball for one frame haha.

    • @hang-the-93
      @hang-the-93 Před 6 lety

      There is no one good way to do the break, no matter which way you go it ends up losing something to gain something. Alternate break can be closer in score and more "fair" but then you don't get to see big comebacks or high runs. I would want to see how many racks a player can put together as much as seeing close matches.

    • @jlx_music4365
      @jlx_music4365 Před 5 lety

      Agree and disagree at the same time. Let me clarify: After the tournaments started with the alternative break, the better players started to loose more more often to weaker opponents, because they can’t be in the „zone“ anymore. This run by Kaci shows what it means to be in the zone. He could play another set and run. But with the a-break he can’t anymore. Couple of years ago I played against my couch. He run 15 9-Ball racks out, so 7:0, 7:0, 1:0 and then missed the first show. After racking up for more then an hour I couldn’t play anymore. He destroyed me that day, BUT that was just more fun watching this happen than playing saves every rack or so. If you ask professionals, nobody wants to play a-break. It’s just against the whole beauty of this game. Pool is not snooker. Imagine you run a rack of straight pool, and then your opponent has the next rack to play? Wouldn’t that be stupid??? Cheers ;)

NOBODY wants to sit and watch someone run rack after rack after rack, especially someone new to or unfamiliar with the sport. People will tune in to just about anything to watch professionals COMPETE, not sit on their asses. I dont have the answers but something needs to change to interest more people in the sport.
