For most of my life my family had white German Shepherds. A total of three (four if you count the stray we took care of until finding the owner) and they each lived well over a decade. Fantastic dogs, I super recommend it. Easy to train, loyal, great with kids (our second protected my kid brother from a diseased animal and didn't even get sick!) First one protected us from a home invader once. They're very smart, and very crafty when protecting the yard. The last one we had made it to 15 years old and would have lived longer if not for some kind of venomous evil little monster biting her. It got a family member, too, but he survived after about a month of treatment. She was protecting us and went out like a hero, but damn I miss her. That dog was downright WISE. Calm and collected, patient enough to be my pillow for a nap under the hedgerow one lazy summer day. It sounds like I'm BSing, but I kid you not there is something magical about white shepherds. They're not just good dogs. No, they're good family members. I miss them. A lot.

My whole family on my father's side does the leg shake (dad, brothers, sister, aunts, cousins, etc.). We call it the Mulvaney bounce and to this day, it annoys the hell out of my mother.
