Remember your enthusiasm when you are fumbling with a pile of step up rings on a shoot :-D. They are a money saver though! Fotga makes $20 variable NDs that perform similarly to Tiffen. I just have three of them in the major filter sizes. I'm one of the few you'll see suggesting Fotga, but when used properly (within limits) they are excellent.

Editing station is definitely important. If you're dealing with clients, having some sort of backup or redundancies in case of data loss is also a priority. As for the camera, I'd say best bang for buck doesn't always mean new, or latest. I just got an 80D, practically new, but "used", with 3 new lenses for just over $1k, and it only shoots up to 60p FHD, but it does everything I need it to do, and I've been enjoying filming with that. Plus, that sweet, sweet Canon Dual Pixel autofocus. Mmmmhmmmm.

Okay we have to address the cinematography of this video:
The very first time I saw you randomly turn to the side and talk to a new camera angle, it annoyed me greatly (not that that matters but just as a viewer, lol). It pulled me out and felt like the first time you had ever done it. But since then you have really grown it into a style and this is the absolute best I've seen so far. It flows fluidly, keeps it interesting, I feel like you have really forged this into an amazing style of your own!
Next, the intro: FANTASTIC as just a random thing to include! I have literally never seen that look and thought it was the perfect follow-drone on an ultra wide lens or something. So good!
This to me is where the inventiveness you've been going for with all those camera angles has really hit it's stride. And I say that as a viewer/student, not a teacher/critic. I have nowhere near your experience, I'm just impressed, that's all!
Finally, disclaimers included, thanks for actually giving your opinion on gear. I'm pretty sure most of us know before asking that "it depends" as to what camera to buy, and are just looking for a good workhorse camera. It's nice when someone with knowledge will actually share it.
Great video! Thank you!! - Winter!

During the part of storage lexar was mentioned as an advice. I work in a photography shop (video specialist) and I can tell you: do NOT buy lexar SD cards. These stupid things have a return rate of 50% in the first three years as far as I can tell. They usually become corrupt/ unreadable. This also goes for the 150+ ones. SanDisk Extreme Pro is my recommendation which are very reliable, the only problem I've seen were that they initially had problems with the a7 iii requiring a firmware update for the camera early in it's lifecycle. Sony card's are decent, and although the though series are externally very strong, for internal problems I've seen them have slightly higher return rates then SanDisk. Angelbird cards are another option when you look at cost versus speed for uhs-ii cards. This brand had a very wonky start with Panasonic cameras not working correctly with them. They seem to have fixed their problems last year and seem reliable but I can't give a final verdict over them since they don't sell enough to do a good statistical analysis.

Hey! I appreciate your suggestions and I follow most of your videos, but I disagree with most of you said. First for the camera I'd go with a cheaper dslr like the Rebel SL2, it has the same sensor as a 80D and canon's colors, dual pixel AF, flippy screen, mic input, I think it's about $500-600 (body only). I won't buy the sigma 18-35 if you are vlogging, it's too tigh and too expensive ($700), I'd start with a canon 10-18 which is about $270, then for a mic, I'd start with a rode videomicro instead of the video mic pro, ($50 vs $200). And then for the tripod, i'd go with a gorilla pod, those are expensive but the quality is much much better than the cheap ones (I bought 3 cheap ones before buying the gorilla pod and after a year it's still working perfectly fine). And ND filters .... I love them, I use them, but they are too expensive. I don't think it's something that should be so high in the list, I think ND filters are the last thing you should buy. If you don't have enough money, I'd use my phone as you suggested, and save for a cheap DSLR:
    My list would be:
    - Cheap Canon DSLR (APS-C) (Rebel SL2, 80D, M50)
    - 10-18 lens (and maybe a kit lens for sit down videos)
    - Rode VideoMicro for vlogging, lavallier mic for sitdown or interviews (there is a good one called Boya M1, is 16 bucks, great mic)
    - Gorilla pod (expensive but worth it)
Then after you have all of that, you can invest in:
    - Drone (Mavic Pro 2 it's a good one)
    - A nifty fifty for B-roll (or the sigma 18-35 you suggested)
    - A backup camera (small point and shoot like Canon G7x or Sony RX100 5)
    - A better microphone for vlogging, the Deity or the video mic pro are good choices
    - ND filters (yes, after all of the stuff before)
    - Gopro? (maybe)
    Then you can upgrade:
    - Full frame camera: I'd suggest a 6D mark 2 (or maybe a EOS R but there are no native lenses and the adapters IMO are not good)
    - Full frame lens: without a doubt a 16-35 f/2.8 (I'd say that you can do anything with a full frame camera and this lense, you don't need anything else)
    - LASTLY: A few more broll lenses
    This is all HYPOTHETICALLY ;)
I hope you see this Matti!
