When we brought home our 2 month old chin a few weeks ago, I think we hit the jackpot. She immediately climbed into our hands, and during time in our jet pet, she jumped all over us. I’m excited to keep solidifying our bond. Btw: your recommendation on the right playpen was awesome. We love it.

Great video! I have been getting discouraged with my second chin. We adopted her at 2 yrs old and it’s rough so far. We’ve had her for a couple months now and it seems like every step forward she takes steps back in trust. She knows her name now but hates being held or touched. This video makes me want to keep trying.

Thank you yr videos have helped me so much I just got mine yesterday. I got lucky she is bounding with me so fast. I did loose her for 3 minutes lol which got me to order the play pen quickly lol. Today I got the cage even though she likes the one now she is going to get bigger omg she is so much fun

I got the playpen, but my chin needs more room. If she is in it, her whole focus is escaping and man is she good at that. So, my bedroom is basically her's now. Definitely going to need to replace the baseboards, even though I'm right there to stop her, she is fast and has sharp lil teeth.

been following your vids here and there and theyre great! ive had pets all my life: hamsters, rabbits, birds, cats, dogs, horses, cows… however chinchillas are truly unique!
The play pen has been by far the best purchase ive made. Sitting in the play pen with my chinchilla has been super helpful. I also feel ive been a little lucky? first week she was hopping all over me, even fell asleep in one of my hoodie pockets. shes been so sweet. i dont know much about the breeding situation with these guys - i got her from Petco a couple days after she arrived to the store.
Any tips on training them (ex. litter training, social training) would be great! Thanks!
Random question: what do you think about “in cage wheels” and the “outta cage exercise balls” for chinchillas? my chinchilla doesnt seem to like the in cage wheel and so i removed it. she appears to like the exercise ball, however, i understand that too much of that can hurt their spine.
Another question i have: is it possible to guess their age? i was told by Petco that they typically get their chinchillas around 4 months. Alternative is to weigh them and guess off of that. Thoughts?

Do you recommend stacking this pen up so it is taller and would allow for a cat tower (or Chinchilla tower)? Also if my chin doesn’t like to be held, do you have a suggestion of how to attach the pen to the cage? He loves climbing to the top of the cage from the back, so keeping the door open isn’t really an option…

I’m only on day 5. I talk to my grey girl and sing to her. I also press my fingertips against her cage so she can smell them and nip them with her teeth.

One tip that I find really helpful is training them with oats, calling there name while giving a couple taps where you want them to go and rewarding them with a couple oats as treat. Really really helped my first chin and now she absolutely loves my wife and I.

My chinchilla interacts with me but is not exactly happy about it. He only make his mating noise never any other noise unless he's sleeping. He comes to me for oats. And he likes my head and feet. Why is he obsessed with my FEET!?!?
