Hello Ganesh Though I'm from a Muslim family n born as a Muslim, I like Brahmin style cooking. And my family (I mean myself, my husband and my children) are pure vegetarians. We don't even take egg. I'm very glad to watch n follow mami's recipes I mean ur videos. I do try most of mami's recipes. I was brought up among the Brahmin society. Whenever I c mami, I remember my favourite yedhirtha aathu Sarada Mami who is no more. Whatever she prepares at home she share with me. Even after marriage, whenever i visit my parents, until I was there she'll send something or the other for me especially. And I do call from my place to ask for recipes. I have witnessed many such paattis taking charge and providing directions, leading us in nurturing the tradition of our families. When we, the educated women lack confidence at some stage in life, these paattis are our inspirations.
மிக எளிய நல்ல விளக்கம்.பல பயனுள்ள செய்திகள், அரிய விஷயங்கள். இதில் சில சில மாறுதல்கள் சீமைக்குச் சீமை இருக்கும். அதே போல் குடும்ப சம்பிரதாயங்களும் மாறுபடும். இதெல்லாம் பெரிய விஷயமில்லை. நம் குடும்பத்துப் பெரியவர்களை நினைத்து, அவர்கள் ஆசீர்வாதத்தை வேண்டி , அவர்கள் நினைவாகவும் அவர்களுக்கு மரியாதை செய்யும் விதமாகவும் இந்த சடங்கை நடத்துகிறோம் என்பதுதான் முக்கியம். பல விஷயங்களில் எவ்வளவோ மாற்றங்கள் வந்துவிட்டாலும், இது நமது வீட்டோடு நடைபெறுவதால் இதைப் பின்பற்றுவதில் சிக்கல்,, சிரமம் இல்லை. சிரத்தை இருந்தால் போதும். எந்த விஷயத்தில் சந்தேகம் வந்தாலும் பெரியவர்கள் நடைமுறையை அனுசரிக்க வேண்டும் என்பது பொதுவான விதி. இங்கு நடைமுறை நன்கு விளக்கப்பட்டு விட்டது. மிகவும் சந்தோஷம். சுமங்கலிப் பிராத்தனைக்கு திங்கட்கிழமை உகந்தது என்று ஸ்ரீ சர்மா சாஸ்திரிகள் அவர் சேனலில் சொல்லியிருக்கிறார்.

I have been reading all the comments posted for this video on sumangali prarthanai. Many have posted negative messages and have expressed their anger without understanding the reason behind this pooja. Though it is called sumangali prarthanai.... It is a small pooja done at home in most of brahmin families who have the tradition of following this pooja. As I have mentioned it is a tradition and nothing religious about it. The basic concept of this pooja is to remember the women of the family who have passed away and to get their blessings. Girls of the ages 5 to 12 are an important part of this pooja. The daughter of the house definitely participates. All are Considered as goddess lakshmi and are given all the things considered to be shubam. I don't think that this practise requires such a furore. Anybody who feels that they don't believe in this custom can atleast take care not to hurt the sentiments of those who believe in it...This pooja is to evoke the blessings of the women in the family, a kind of remembrance and thanksgiving and we do it in our style. When traditional agrahara Recipes can be appreciated I don't see the reason for the furore over traditional brahmin practices. It is our way of life and we are proud of it

Absolutely 👍. Its really rude to be so dismissive, isn't it. I appreciate sumangali prarthanai, I want to live a long and happy life with my husband. We are all praying for a happy life. Nothing wrong in it. Of course, widows being excluded is all wrong, but so are the men, they can't perform or take part in any function Pooja without wife. Why only our religion gets so much criticism, karva chauth gets the same rap. It's sad.

Amma, I have 2 sons and both are married. I had already performed this Pooja before their marriage. My second son's wedding was in the year 2014. After this occasion, I have not performed this sumangali Pooja. I wish to perform this Pooja every year. Can I do this? Because both my Mother and Mother-in-law expired Sumangali.Kindly advise.

For any function, we must do pondugal. If it is girls marriage, should do before marriage. If it is boys marriage after marriage should be done.
