Croeso i Gymru Matt! Been watching you for ages and can't believe that you were playing golf just down the road from me!! Your videos have helped me with my game so much and I wanted to say thanks! My swing still sucks, but my course management is so much better my scores are getting better and I'm on track to break 90 for the first time. So close, but I know it will happen soon!
Big difference seeing this round where you came in with a plan, focused, vs. the high score round where you didn't play your normal style of game and checked out mentally. My realization is that viewers (myself included) start to emulate the former, improve greatly after abandoning their tendencies to play like the latter. Thanks for showing us the differences so we can achieve better outcomes.
Senior Open was on there a while back, great course. I’m so happy for you that you played well, smell of the sand and sea in the morning on a links triggers happiness in my brain. Never cared how I played just always feels like a holiday
Enjoying these UK Vlogs Playa! If you can, play Kington Golf Course in Herefordshire on the border with wales. Its the highest golf course in England and plays like a links course inland! You also have views of 5 different counties from the highest point on the course. Green fee about £30, great value 🤝
Play Bovey Castle in Devon. It is right next to Dartmoor. The first 9 is in a river valley and is the pretties 9 holes I have ever seen -- also the most difficult I have every played. The second 9 is up out of the valley where you can see the moor. It is well worth a visit--like nothing else I have every seen in person or on video.
Just got back from a great Golf trip in North Wales. Nefyn Golf Club is a bucket list course, stunning, especially the old course. (Royal St David's also great)
Definitely have to hit the Edinburgh golf coast Matt: ‘North Berwick’, ‘Muirfield’, ‘Renaissance’ to name a few… purest links golf you can find in UK. Also in Scotland a hidden gem that doesn’t cost too much in the St Andrews area is ‘Elie’. If you make it down south to Devon the ‘Royal North Devon’ is the most fun you can have on a links course (also designed by Old Tom Morris
So glad you got to play a proper links while over here and a championship one to boot. I'll be here on tv in a few weeks playing the Senior Open..........
In England, we have a few fun ones. Try the Belfry, Brabazon for the history (masters is there currently) and the Forest of Arden is a good one too. nefyn is a must in wales as well as Celtic manor. Can get a good deal on Celtic, dependant on how long you’re here for!
After watching several of your videos I’ve gotta say that you have a knack for making more nonchalant, stress free, 5 ft putts than anyone I’ve ever seen
Welcome to this neck of the woods Matt, I’m in neighbouring Ireland. I’ve been looking forward to seeing you play some links, I’d say you’ll prove to be a cracking links player. I hope you play Lahinch, I think you’d love it.
Ah fantastic ❤ , it’s such a fun and spectacular course. Some unbelievably unique holes. And it’s in one of the best towns in the country for ‘the craic’. Played there 3 weeks ago for the first time and loved it.
Greetings Matty from the windy city and Humewood. Great test of a links you played and well done after your previous game. Thanks for the content. Have a great trip!
Finally got out yesterday for a round, shot very poorly but made 1 nice 18ish foot putt from off the green into the cup and that alone was enough to keep me coming back and I'm just grateful to be able to get out there in the middle of winter.
In terms of Other UK links courses. Princes is a Must Visit; An overnighted in the lodges a definite must do and if you can coupled with a day at Royal St.George’s next door. Then clearly Scotland take your pick, too many to mention but Spey Valley; Fortrose & Rosmarkie old school gem. Dundonald Links; Machrahanish Dunes also worth the pilgrimage.
Go Scotland my friend. Pick a couple of courses in Ayrshire. Ferry to Arran. Play Shiskine and Corrie. Ferry to Clonaig. Drive to Machrihanish. Play Mahcrihanish, Mach Dunes and Dunaverty. Drive to Glasgow, and head East to Fife or East Lothian.
Try North Oxford (one of the best public course I've found), Hinksey Heights (the only breathtaking view of Oxford University) while touring the city. Nice royal flush on the no.5 mate.
Very pretty and so different. I imagine the first golfers hitting out of natural bunkers where the sand blew over and pooled up in the grasses. Thanks for traveling and sharing.
Interesting to hear your thoughts on how to play this sort of course, it's similar to my local course where missing a fairway or green can often mean a lost ball. Totally different to this course is old thorns, it's really cool, lots of elevation changes, great greens. Tore me to pieces a couple weeks ago 😅
Great video and wonderful course. See if you can get to the Brabazon - following the British Masters it should be fantastic. Our group of Playas were there last month and it's amazing.
If you're coming back to the UK - make sure to take a trip over to Ireland also. Some of the best courses in the world. If its links you want you wont find better - Lahinch, Tralee, Ballybunion, Carne, Royal Portrush, Royal County Down, Dooks - the list goes on and on. These are unrivalled links courses.
Beautiful landscape, a land of greens and browns and blue sea, furry greens, long grass hairs enveloping your ball. Tuba music on 16...that hole was your undoing in a way, but overall, all good! Surprised you used putter so often from greenside but it was the smart move until you get accustomed. May the Welsh Winds be with ye!😂
If you are still in the UK looking for courses , I would love to see royal port rush and royal County Down course played in nothern Ireland , two of the best courses in the world !
Agreed on the links courses - though I have to admit I haven´t played one yet. I still take a links course over those manicured coursed every time. By the way, do I spy cold weather gear with the "waddaplaya" logo on you? That would be a great addition for us European players. I´ll just take the plain pants and a rain vest. Something with a tuba on it would be great ;-)
Probably the favourite course I’ve played in the UK (not the best, but every hold is so so enjoyable!) Shame to see the round tail off, but some brilliant shots in there considering you were basically playing without your longest club
So, is that classed as a 3 putt on the 13th?!. Can't begin to imagine how hard this totally different golfing environment must be for you. You'll be a better player for it. Great to see you over here though. Enjoy your trip.
Hi! Been a subscriber for years now. I don't think I've seen a video on your putting. You seem so relaxed when putting and you're obviously good at it. Any playa putting tips?
Love watching your tubes matt . So insightful. I use your methods of thought and slowly but slowly see sights of improvement in my game. Keep rolling and scoring playa . 😊
Im glad to see this playa to see how the conditions are making you think i watch good good for exaple playing perfect conditions with a 20km breeze and always wonder how theyd do in Ireland with a 65km gust and rain belting into their faces
Great to see you in the UK Matt. Would be brilliant if we could see you play the Cavendish in Buxton. A McKenzie designed course that some say inspired Augusta.
I held about a nine to twelve handicap for several years. 79 was a decent score for me. A GREAT round for me would be no doubles, three birdies, and half pars, and half bogeys, for a 77-78.
stunningly beautiful course! you played it like Tiger Woods; staying short of the bunkers...ya just didn't have the matching iron, short or putting game that TW has in bag 😁...enjoy your time in the UK...it's great if you could stay away from the Open rota and focus on courses that we don't get to see on tv. ..enjoy the sausage rolls
Its always windy on links golf course's Matt, 😂 hopefully you're coming across the pond to Ireland, we have some if the best links courses in the world, im from county Donegal and majority of courses here are links. Nice front 9 playa fully expected an under par round there but +6 is still a good score.
If your still in wales check out celtic manor, The twenty ten is a great course but Id recommend the Montgomery , one of the most interesting course designs I've seen
I was suffering food coma when watching this video (not because it's boring, I just ate lunch lol).. but that toot toot on 7:00 mark woke my ass up. HAHAHAHAHA pperrrttt
Great video and love watching the links courses, suggest playing the East Lothian courses such as gullane which are great. But best value for money Scotland are the fife courses in my opinion, these include burnt island, kinghorn and aberdour. Would also be great seeing you play my home course prestonfield in Edinburgh.
I hear you on the scotch taped together front 9. Rarely lasts 18. Been getting me lately. Like game of thrones…the story of fire and ice 🤦♂️ What is it that holds the same game 1-18 🙌🏼
There are some lovely links courses in Cornwall - try that next time you're over mate. St Enodoc is the best one in my opinion, but there are a bunch more too.
"That could be in the hole!"
*20 yards deep in the rough*
Playa, I felt that one all the way in my soul
Mind-blowing to see you on a links course, playa. I agree, the most beautiful natural courses on earth. The 100 yard putt was incredible.
It was mind blowing to be there
7:00 love the addition of the ambient bird calls, really helps immersion
It makes me feel all peaceful
Playa, broke 80 for the first time this season. Recently refreshed myself on the way of the playa. One birdie, lots of pars, a few bogeys. Waddalife.
Get yourself over to the North of Ireland, Royal Portrush, Portstewart Strand & Royal County down, some incredible links up there
Croeso i Gymru Matt!
You can do it Mark!
My great pleasure playa. We gotta keep the spirits high
Your channel has quickly grown to become my favorite channels. Keep up the awesome work!
It’s my favorite too
Matty, you gotta play the Hotchkin course at woodhall spa in England. Top 100 course also but it's the hardest course in England. Beautiful course
Senior Open was on there a while back, great course. I’m so happy for you that you played well, smell of the sand and sea in the morning on a links triggers happiness in my brain. Never cared how I played just always feels like a holiday
The Seniors Open is there again in a couple of weeks.

I am hoping to play that this winter when I come back to visit ancestral lands
Great to see you on a links. Kind of surreal! Great stuff playa in chief.
Welcome to our shores. 😀😀
Thank you kindly!
Well I never thought I'd see my hometown in the background of a Golf Sidekick video! Hope you enjoyed your time down South Wales playa
Your final line in this video is my favourite thing you’ve said in any of your videos that I’ve seen. Bang on!
Play Bovey Castle in Devon. It is right next to Dartmoor. The first 9 is in a river valley and is the pretties 9 holes I have ever seen -- also the most difficult I have every played. Just got back from a great Golf trip in North Wales. Nefyn Golf Club is a bucket list course, stunning, especially the old course. (Royal St David's also great)
I love that you are getting out and enjoying yourself all over the world. But it’s not the same when you have pants on. 😂
But did you see the pullover he was wearing? All we need now is fleece lined, for us Northern Playas...
Much better with pants off for sure
I know had to wear pants so the English wouldn’t be jealous
Links Golf is the best!! Love it! Great to see you scrambling on such a great course!
Welcome to my neck of the woods! Hope you enjoyed the Welsh links experience👌 Great vid!
Definitely have to hit the Edinburgh golf coast Matt: ‘North Berwick’, ‘Muirfield’, ‘Renaissance’ to name a few… purest links golf you can find in UK. 3 putting from 105 yards away! 😂😂 fantastic. Links golf to perfection Matt
It’s the only way
In England, we have a few fun ones. Try the Belfry, Brabazon for the history (masters is there currently) and the Forest of Arden is a good one too. nefyn is a must in wales as well as Celtic manor. Can get a good deal on Celtic, dependant on how long you’re here for!

Thanks playa
Great video, enjoying it. Unquestionably the realest on YT, due to the focus on shot management. Helped my game.
Nice to see you playing a few courses in my home country.
Very unusual to have the wind in that direction at RP. 99/100 it’s straight into your face on the first tee blowing in off the sea! Stunning course.
Wow! What a beautiful course 😍
Your swing tempo is like Butta - smooth🙌🏼
My home club Machynys Peninsula in Llanelli, Wales - only 45 minutes away from Royal Porthcawl and just hosted the Clutch Pro Tour.
Happy to caddy 😁
Great. Let me check it out
Great watching you take on the different type of course. Excellent demonstration of being adaptable.
Finally got out yesterday for a round, shot very poorly but made 1 nice 18ish foot putt from off the green into the cup and that alone was enough to keep me coming back and I'm just grateful to be able to get out there in the middle of winter.
Some days you’re the pigeon some days you’re the statue

Glad to see you over on these fair shores playa and look forward to many more 👍
Seeing the shores again soon
Try North Oxford (one of the best public course I've found), Hinksey Heights (the only breathtaking view of Oxford University) while touring the city. Nice royal flush on the no.5 mate.
I'll check it out!

The power of the mental. You talked yourself into the approach on 3 with conviction - you didn't have a choice but to fire a dart!
Well played mate! I’m actually going to the Senior Open here at the end of month so it was cool seeing the course for the first time
Right!! I’ve watched you regular for like….forever, and I live up the road from porthcawl!!! That has freaked me out a smidge
Hah. Don’t be too freaked out playa
I broke 80 two days ago using your carefree wisdom. I’d like to see you play the Royal County Down!!
Great video and wonderful course. See if you can get to the Brabazon - following the British Masters it should be fantastic. Our group of Playas were there last month and it's amazing.

Sounds like a plan playa

FR links golf IS golf. Great to see you out there trying to keep it under the wind bro.
Making stingers
If you are still in the UK looking for courses , I would love to see royal port rush and royal County Down course played in nothern Ireland , two of the best courses in the world !
Royal County Down / Royal Portrush - Northern Ireland is amazing for golf
Agreed on the links courses - though I have to admit I haven´t played one yet. I still take a links course over those manicured coursed every time. If you come to London, come to bletchingley or Surrey national, they are just south of London in Surrey!
Great to see you playing some links courses Matty boy
Probably the favourite course I’ve played in the UK (not the best, but every hold is so so enjoyable!) Shame to see the round tail off, but some brilliant shots in there considering you were basically playing without your longest club
Welcome to the UK.
I would love to see how you would handle Fleetwood a true links course 😊
What a wonderful place it is - glad you enjoyed it playa!
The Welsh Wedge from 105! Waddastroke!
Appreciate all the great content Matty Boom Boom!
Appreciate all your great comments
Love watching your tubes matt . So insightful. I use your methods of thought and slowly but slowly see sights of improvement in my game. Keep rolling and scoring playa . 😊
Keep going playa. We love success stories
“That’s a bonus 4 there…” 🎶 Claro que sí 🎶
Music editing 👌🏻
Thanks. I quite like it myself
Links golf best test of golf there is and love the 100 yd putt
Come to Ireland, it would be a good challenge for you
Im glad to see this playa to see how the conditions are making you think i watch good good for exaple playing perfect conditions with a 20km breeze and always wonder how theyd do in Ireland with a 65km gust and rain belting into their faces
I’d like to see it
Roman Road and Wenvoe Castle I would recommend in South Wales.
Morlais Castle is a gem of a course also.
I beg you to play lurgan golf club in northern Ireland, also while your there you could try royal county down, the world's #1 course
Subscribed. Studio looks outstanding! Something I wish I could have in my own home
tough to fit a links course in your house
Great to see you in the UK Matt. Would be brilliant if we could see you play the Cavendish in Buxton. A McKenzie designed course that some say inspired Augusta.
Will check it out playa
Let’s see Wentworth. Matty Boom boom with Hans and Franz.
What a day!
Over here in Suffolk area there's a good mix between parkland and links style. Sheringham, Royal Norwich, and Diss all come to mind.
Links golf is amazing. In wind, playing to your handicap, typically means you are playing about 5 under.
I held about a nine to twelve handicap for several years. 79 was a decent score for me. A GREAT round for me would be no doubles, three birdies, and half pars, and half bogeys, for a 77-78.
Waddaplaya
So relaxed swing!
stunningly beautiful course! you played it like Tiger Woods; staying short of the bunkers...ya just didn't have the matching iron, short or putting game that TW has in bag 😁...enjoy your time in the UK...it's great if you could stay away from the Open rota and focus on courses that we don't get to see on tv. ..enjoy the sausage rolls
Im also from port elizabeth and could never play Humewood so it took a while got too hit it straight an be good round the greens but what a coarse
This video makes me wanna book a month-long holiday to the UK now.
Llantrisant and pontyclun is a tough track just up the road from porthcawl very tight parkland course
Ur a links golfer matt the 7 iron on number 3 i think it was was proper. Also familiar with the punchy hook on 5 clubbing down 2 haha
Absolutely love links golf 😍
You need to play Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. The only course on the island to host The Open Championship.
Try Tenby golf course In Pembrokeshire. Oldest course in Wales…stunning views. Keeping same ball is a minor miracle.
A miracle I’d be willing to endure
Your vids have been game changing bud. Come across the water to Ireland, I'll take you out for a game.
Ok. Ireland will see me soon
Royal West Norfolk Golf Club! Amazing links course!
Welcome to Wales! Can highly recommend Royal St Davids, and Aberdovey as great links courses in Wales.
Its always windy on links golf course's Matt, 😂 hopefully you're coming across the pond to Ireland, we have some if the best links courses in the world, im from county Donegal and majority of courses here are links.
Nice front 9 playa fully expected an under par round there but +6 is still a good score.
The wind was not friends with my driver
Great job my man so weird to see you on a course like that made it happen big time brotha man haha
Keep planting
Thanks! Will do!
Some of the Clubs down in Dorset are absolutely stunning :)
Welcome to the UK Playa! Have fun and try some links courses in Scotland. Are you going to post some videos from Finland?
If your still in wales check out celtic manor, The twenty ten is a great course but Id recommend the Montgomery , one of the most interesting course designs I've seen
I was suffering food coma when watching this video (not because it's boring, I just ate lunch lol).. but that toot toot on 7:00 mark woke my ass up. HAHAHAHAHA pperrrttt
Glad you’re awake now playa
Great video and love watching the links courses, suggest playing the East Lothian courses such as gullane which are great. But best value for money Scotland are the fife courses in my opinion, these include burnt island, kinghorn and aberdour. Would also be great seeing you play my home course prestonfield in Edinburgh.
love the links - i hope you are enjoying them
I loved them. Coming back soon
I hear you on the scotch taped together front 9. Rarely lasts 18. Been getting me lately. Like game of thrones…the story of fire and ice 🤦♂️
What is it that holds the same game 1-18 🙌🏼
Would be good to see you play burnham and berrow, that's a tricky lynx course
That putt from 108 was so sick lol
There are some lovely links courses in Cornwall - try that next time you're over mate. St Enodoc is the best one in my opinion, but there are a bunch more too.
Will have a look playa
That tee shot at hole 18!!! What a view!
