Being from Philly you did a great job. The one you liked the most is a new spot. We never like Genos, pats either. Max's was the spot back in the day but it looked the best out of all of them. Chubbys was right across from Delsandros, you should have went there. People never try the papi stores. Cheesesteak platter / fries , and drink, 6bucks. I haven't had one since last year from this store on Germantown Ave, down the street from hunting park going towards Wayne junction. Across the street is a halal place called Paprika, and a barbershop. Delicious 😋

Everybody raves about Dalessandro's but I agree with him, the steaks lack flavor. My favorite spot is Little Sicily 2 for an Indian-Style cheesesteak. I don't even eat regular cheesesteaks anymore.

Leo's Steaks in the County right outside of Southwest Philly going towards the airport. I lived in Philly for 6 years this spot is better than many places in the city PERFECT steaks, you won't regret.
You need to go to Jim’s on 4th & South in Philly.

Coming from Baltimore, Dalessandro's steak is perfect other than it certainly needs salt. Threw some Lawry's on it and its the best I ever had.
Gino’s was disgusting when I had it. The peppers saved them. I would drive all the way back up there from DC just for those peppers.

When I lived in Philly I found the cart vendors at Independence Mall made some awesome steaks. Plus there was a few places in Northeast Philly that had some great steaks.

Cleavers got the best cheesesteaks in downtown area of Philly I used to work right up the street from them.
I know about four Papi stores within walking distance that will put Geno and Pats to shame because ain’t nobody who’s truly from here going there. I only remember eating there once as a kid and went right to that park to play Yugioh 😅

Jim’s is nice. But unpopular opinion, Jersey ( and I mean south Jersey ) got some of the best cheesesteaks too. Cuz if we talking food in Philly you gotta go to reading Terminal market. Foodie heaven, I recommend Herschel’s Eastside deli, pastrami Ruben. Top 5 sandwich in Philly.

if you want the best Philly cheesesteak, go to a small corner store. idc which, but they will ALL be better than any popular spot. there was a place I used to get a footlong cheesesteak, WITH FRIES for 4.75. it was phenomenal tasting, every time.

Geno’s, and Pat’s are for tourist and people that live in walking distance since birth. Cleavers nah not a regular stop. Any native Philadelphian will tell you to go to Max’s, Jim’s or Ishkabibbles but you have to get a Gremlin if you got to Ishkabibbles.
I went to Philly one time. I are at the original Tony Luke’s. It was really good.
D’alessandros is by far the best. The meat is chopped up so good you don’t get the gross gristle and strings like other places. This Coming from a person who doesn’t eat meat any longer. Those hot cherry peppers on the side. Yum
