When you sat down on the throne at 8:21, I was reminded of the fact that on my version of Myst for Windows - German, from the Ages of Myst collection -, there's a mistake: When you sit down on this throne, you see a distorted picture - as if the pixels had been moved. For many years I thought that this was on purpose as I supposed the throne to be a torture chair and the distorted view should show the pain and the agony one would suffer from. Later I realized that the other versions (the inclu
We know the books were put in protection by Atrus just after the brothers burnt the library on Myst. He tells us so himself in the message he left in the dock forechamber. I presume it was directly after this he was made to... er... disappear by his sons (Trying to avoid spoilers here). As for the Red and Blue pages, it was always my assumption Atrus wrote them to scatter the pages automatically once someone became trapped in them.
the other way to find sirris'(s) secret panel is by finding achenar's which obviously has the yellow stripe on it so one would suspect sirrus'(s) room has one too,
When the snake lunged out of the jack-in-the-box, I expected you to quote Cedric from KQ5. Since it's a cobra, it is, after all, a POIIISONOUS snake! :)
... Later I realized that the other versions (the included Mac version, the masterpiece edition for Win and for Mac, german and english) show the picture normally. It is a strange bug though. I guess it only appeared on this CD, the german Ages of Myst version - but in this picture, nothing had to be converted/translated, so why would there be a reason to modify the corresponding file?
When I first played Myst it was on an Amiga. I had a rougher time with Selenetic and Mechanical ages because for some reason, I've no idea why, the directional sounds were not present! Don't know why they were omited, it couldn't have been due to hardware. Amiga's were quite capable of producing the sounds and all the rest of the sounds were there. But that made me struggle with these ages.
Maybe someone can help me understand how these pages got scattered and how the linking books themselves were protected? If Atrius and the two sons are locked up then how did those things happen? If someone can explain this to me that'd be great!
Maybe between finding his book burned and leaving again, Atrus decided it was time to up security and scattered them? The books missing pages could explain why Sirrus and Achnar are stuck in a staticy void, rather than fully in their prison ages. Then, when they are pushed fully into their ages, I guess by the books being burned, they... lost their memories of being trapped in the static void, explaining their journals in the forth game. Uh... Yeah, it’s a stretch, but it’s the best I can put together for some of the inconsistencies in the game XD
Aww. I was really hoping you wouldn't 'find' the hidden panel in Sirus' room until after visiting Achenar's room. Would have helped create the illusion that you were actually discovering the secrets as you played.
+homosapienssapiens19 Since this game is so old I think that spoilers are extremely forgivable... The comments help me look out for things in the videos that I may not notice or pay attention to. Everyone is different :-)
We have no obligation to remain spoiler free. It's comments. to the video. We're like, supposed to discuss the content of the video. I know you made this comment ages ago, but I sincerely hope you've changed your mind by now.

"You'll be walking around this age in despair rather a lot" pretty much sums up the entire game
This must be the best AND the funniest walkthrough ever!! Thanks for being so entertaining.

In your let's plays, you often act like one of the fair witnesses from stranger in a strange land, never making any assumptions. :P

the helmet in achenar's room looks like Bobba Fett's. You wonder if the pirates were mercenaries?? lol
@QUANTUMJOKER Some jokes are too obvious even for me. :P
With Sim Sim, you can create a simulated environment in which you can create any simulated environment you want!

The comments section almost always gives spoilers for the vids. :(

The power of the game programmer... Seriously though, there is no logical explanation for it. That I've heard at least.
Yus!
