    I just finished modifying and painting my 1:6 scale Jeep to have a working side mirror and wipers, working pivoting axe carrier and sheath, correct tail lights and trailer socket cover. I wish they'd had leaf springs on it as well as the toolboxes in the rear like this 1:12 does.
    As far as the lights on the 1:12 scale- the blackout light located on the fender shouldn't be a headlight but a narrow beam of light that comes out, and while the 'turn signals' are modeled correctly, they should be marker lights- small dimly lit lights that serve as indicators where the vehicle is on the road in blackout/low light situations. The tail lights should actually be just the one on the driver side, and act as a stop light, the other should also be a blackout stop indicator, with both having marker lights on the bottom as well.
    I realize I'm being nitpicky, but for the discerning jeep aficionado this is what we look for and notice.

      @Hjerte_Verke Před 2 lety

      I came here to say this. To reiterate, the turn signal lights are wrong--these jeeps did not have turn signals, but where Roc Hobby put turn signals on the model, they are in fact supposed to be blackout marker lights or "cat eyes" that work independently of the regular "service drive" headlights. Not amber light either, but small "pips" of dim white light. These tiny emissions of light were intended to minimize visibility by the enemy but still allow operation in darkness. I'm definitely modding mine {when I get it} to eliminate the turn signal lights and make the blackout drive light emit just a tiny sliver of light, and whatever else the model needs to look right.

    Looks great.
    They mixed features from both the Willys MB (front bumper has only 1 hole on the front face) and Ford GPW (ribbed tool box lids). Probably some other details, too, but that's what you might find in a motor pool after a couple of repairs.

    Nice jeep and nice video. No, the original WW2 jeep did not have "blinkers". Those lights were blackout driving marker lights. The one on the fender was also a black-out driving light. It is incorrectly all lit up like a fog light or something. The real light throws just a wee bit of light in front of the vehicle so that the driver can drive and not be seen by aircraft.

    The small lights under the headlights are not indicators. They are blackout marker lights,also for driving in convoy at night. They have distancing prisms inside that converge the lighting so the vehicle behind can judge the distance from the vehicle in front in the dark with no headlights on,..pretty scary in my opinion but that's the way it was done. Driving a jeep is great fun. Your spine pays for it though. The suspension is military grade,..rock hard !

    Hiya,..l own a 1944 Ford GPW jeep. It's virtually identical except to the Willys jeep. During the war, Willys and Ford produced the jeeps to keep up with the demand. Those model jeeps are very close to the real thing,especially the smaller scale vehicle.. The light on the left front guard is a blackout light for driving in convoys at night when the headlights were turned off.

      Isn't the limitation on the steering due to the front dogbone axles? I'm assuming it does not have the universal joint steering knuckles that the C34KM has {which provide an extreme turning angle}.

    Jestli si někdo myslí, že za tuhle cenu dostane perfektní model, tak já si to nemyslím. A také jsem se o tom přesvědčil: při pozorné prohlídce jsem zjistil že můj nový Willis 1/12 má několik defektů. Nejspíš byly způsobeny nekvalitním, asi rychlým sestavováním modelu v továrně. Obrátil jsem se přímo na výrobce, který se chlubí tím, jak podporuje své modely tak, že nahradí vadné části. Nebyla to ovšem pravda, výrobce mě stroze odmítl že defektní model se dá také používat. Mám jeho písemné vyjádření. Pro mě je to je nesolidní firma a na výrobky od ní bych si dal velký pozor.

  • @Hjerte_Verke
    @Hjerte_Verke Před 2 lety

    Your 1/6 MB driver has his helmet on backwards. You'll know it when you see it, because the front has more of a cap style visor molded into the "steel pot". But whatever, it's probably your personal preference. ...😜

  • @Hjerte_Verke
    @Hjerte_Verke Před 2 lety +1

    Is this proportional throttle and steering? I know the steering angle is so minimal that it's only good enough for changing lanes LOL, but from the way you were driving it it seemed to have only ON and OFF speed and full left and full right steering. I don't much like the way it comes to an immediate halt and doesn't coast, but maybe that's the drag brake?

  • @Unity_RC
    @Unity_RC Před 3 lety +1

    They did a whole lot better job on the small guy. The 1/6 is good but the regular crawler chassis takes the scale away, Atwell with all the smaller detail like the fuel tank, hood,leafs. Definitely getting one.
