The Duchess of Windsor had an incredible jewelry collection. Her collection rivaled any heiress or royal of the time. All of her jewels were bold and interesting. I like all of the pieces, but the Cartier flamingo brooch might be my favorite. How many women can say they have a Cartier flamingo brooch as adornment?
With the exception of Meghan Markle none of the women of the Royal Family would be caught dead wearing that tacky loud flamingo broach even as a joke.

Edward VIII did not have access to income from the Cornwall estate, that goes to the Price of Whales. As Duke of Windsor he did not manage his money particularly well! So he was not as rich as some think.
He was Prince of Wales (what is the price of whales these days?) for several decades and saved a large percentage of that annual income before he was King. After he abdicated, it was negotiated that his brother, George VI, would pay him an additional yearly income in return for handing over Sandringham and Balmoral, which he inherited as private property from George V. Some sources say that Elizabeth II continued the payments for the rest of Wallis's life, but that's unclear.

Remember, all the jewels you see on any Royal are not personally owned by them. They are owned by the Crown Jewler and loaned to them. Exceptions are for engagement rings, wedding rings, or gifts between spouses bought for or by them. What happened with the former King Edward VIII keeping the crown's revenue made him extremely rich, so he could lavish his wife Wallis Simpson with loads and loads of expensive jewels. When he died his wills was set that she was to keep a lifestyle she was acustom too. After her own death, everything was sent back to the Royal family of the UK.

@@huolalupin6008 Since you did not reply about why they were sent to the Bahamas. The UK Gov send them there to be the Governor to the Bahamas from Portugal where they were in sort of vacations. The reason they did this was because the Duke and Duchess were PRO-NAZI; they visited Hitler and were invited to his retreat in Bergof, in the town of Berchtesgaden. Hitler wanted to kidnap the Duke and Duchess to put them back on the Throne in the UK.
