    I have this plane, And ready to maiden mine as soon as the weather is good, I am using a SK3 5055 430Kv motor, Turnigy Plush-32 100Amp ESC, And I don't have any 6 cell Lipos, So I am using 2 Zippy 2650's 40C connected in parallel, A 15x8 APC prop, And 6in. Kaven tires. My build techniques are quite different then yours, But whatever works is great!, A little tip for those trying to install decals is i don't use Windex, I use a spray bottle with warm water and a drop or two of Dawn dish soap. ( I clean all areas for decal with Isopropyl alcohol first), Spray the area, apply your decal, The soap lets you slide and position the decal, When you get where you want it, Use a paper towel at a corner to hold it and squeegee the water out ( I use a old credit card), use another paper towel to just touch and dry any wet areas, let dry overnite, do not touch, Done! I know decals can be frustrating, going from good to bad in seconds, so I hope this helps someone.

    2 things... 1, lose the center prop bolt and nylon washer! The torque can easily kill both parts of that setup! The knurling of the prop hub needs to contact the spinner backplate, which has to contact the prop, to prevent spinning on the shaft. At best it only slips. At worst it can be dangerous by loosening and slinging a prop under power.
    2 Hint: get a connector to patch the lights to one cell of the lipo balance lead. Each light can have its own two pin connection to any random two balance wires. That’s 3.7-4.2 volts and I understand these lights work on a single cell lipo. The amp draw is minimal and will never be noticed.

    • @UngluedModeler
      @UngluedModeler  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks for tips! Yeah I am watching my prop setup closely. We did the taxi test, multiple full power pulls, and did the maiden the other day two full battery packs doing high speed passes and it did great. Didn’t budge one bit. We’re going to keep an eye on it. Thanks for the tip with the lights we don’t mind our setup. We have a mini switch inline it’s not bad to plug it all in while your down there doing the wing connectors.

    Mary @ 11:58, LOL! I made the same sound. Came out fine though. If you press the plastic down with a piece of plywood or a book it'll come out nice and smooth, not that it matters on the inside. I like the black spinner, goes well with the overall look. One sharp-looking plane.

    Building this plane now! I I installed a 20 cc Stinger gas engine on mine. Finished gluing all the horns on yesterday after I sprayed them with grey primer to match the color scheme. Great video's. I just finished an Extreme Flight 91" NG blue and white with a 76 cc Great Power engine. Do you fly any 3D planes? Also have you seen the new 100" bush plane by Extreme flight? It takes a 35 cc motor. I plan to buy it but need a new transmitter to operate it. Thanks for these videos, helps answer quick questions when needed!!

  • @g.meyers1008
    @g.meyers1008 Před 2 lety +1

    I bought this kit and the wrinkles and the mistakes made from the factory were terrible. All over the airplane the covering was cut short. Then tiny patches were coming off and sticking to my iron when I was ironing the covering. My kit was wrinkled 50% more than the one in the video. Attention to detail like pulling the covering tight on angles didn't happen. That caused the leading edge to not be stuck down at the wing tips. It's so loose the heat gun didn't help. It has sanding dust under the bottom of the wing covering. On the top of my wing there is pieces of balsa that is visible that they ironed over under the covering. The covering job was not sealed at all on the seams. When you try to get the seams sealed the other side will pull away because it was not stuck down. The flaps and ailerons were cut short on the ends, then patched over. Trying to get them to seal did not happen. I stripped the covering off of the ailerons and flaps and started over. My son does a better job covering and he is a kid. The wing not block sanded and bottom of the wing is uneven. The elevator has a big sander mark in two places. It is very visible. My kit must have been built on Friday LOL. Dear Horizon please sell this kit without covering. It would have been faster to cover it myself than try to fix this mess.

    • @UngluedModeler
      @UngluedModeler  Před 2 lety

      Wow!!! That’s crazy!! Very sorry to hear that. Sounds like you have it taken care of already but Horizon actually has wonderful customer service I bet they would have sent you a completely new plane. Pain in the butt I know to pack it all up but I’m sure they would have helped you get a new plane. Lots of times they even have you keep the old parts.

    • @UngluedModeler
      @UngluedModeler  Před 3 lety +1

      Couple of questions. What radio system are you using? Did you set up a new model when you set the bigfoot up? It sounds like you may have an inadvertent mix going on between the throttle and elevator channels.

      @@UngluedModeler I'm new to the rc plane scene. So I purchased some starter stuff to make sure it is something I will enjoy as much as my other rc products. The transmitter and receiver are flysky fs16x. Everything on the plane works as it should just not the throttle and elevator. I watched a few different videos on setting up the transmitter and it binds correctly but still the same issue. Wasn't sure if there is a way to set up what each stick does. The weird thing is that the elevator works normal going down on the stick but when I go up on the stick the elevator moves but the throttle revs with it

    • @UngluedModeler
      @UngluedModeler  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah that is very strange. Are use open TX on my Taranis but what happens when I set up a new model is it asks you what you want each channel to do. If I was you I would try setting up a brand new model from scratch and then triple checking that you have assigned each servo correctly to the appropriate channel. And somewhere in your menus you have An area for mixes. I would check to see that you do not have an elevator to throttle mix also. That is where I would start.
