Currently in Texas without power. Some of the homes around here have an indoor temperature of 40 degrees because power has been out almost 24 hours. Pipes are bursting all over the place so no power and no running water. It’s really bad.

Stay safe you guys, and remember, if your driving and your rear end starts sliding, steer the direction of your rear end until you're stable. Steer according to the severity of your sliding, then alternate if your rear starts going the other way and so on. Don't panic, and keep safe distance. If your car gets stuck, don't gun it to try to get out, try to clear the snow and use the "rocking" method instead. To help delay pipes bursting, try to let your faucets drip (this may include showers, shop sinks, etc). This doesn't prevent pipes freezing, but it helps as moving water freezes slower than stagnant water.

I don't know much about power grids, but you will have to work your gas stove and sleep and stay in the kitchen. Turn on the oven to 500°, open the oven door and just lay out some blankets and camp in front of it. I did it in my apartment to save money instead of using the wall heater. Stay safe and warm Texans!!❄😚🔥🔥

"Turn on the oven to 500°, open the oven door and just lay out some blankets and camp in front of it. "
If your oven is gas, that's a good way to die of carbon monoxide poisoning.
If your oven is electric, you should be using a space heater instead. Electric ovens are not designed to be used as a heater.

The problem is that most of Texas is on its own power grid, while Missouri to Maine share one and Kansas to California share. There is no way to divert excess power from other areas to Texas. And this is just a preview of what could happen if we don't update the easily hackable grids.
